    Thinking About Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Welcome Melissa Rose 24, think it is awesome you are talking to people before make decision too. It is a very personal one so comes down to what you want. You want to do it for yourself -nobody else. I had 2 miscarriages (my only 2 pregnancy but I was older at 39 & 40) & also gained weight after. I was 262 when started the program. I weighed around 252 when had surgery on 9/19/16. I am 194 today. It has been an adjustment for me to not drink with meals. I still do take a little sip or two sometimes but don't drink. Was big rea/water drinker before with meals. Other thing I have lost some of my hair -thinner now & this is a norm & people do get back to normal most I talked to but takes time. I had thick hair before. I know it may not be same when hair loss starts coming back. This is a norm for many to lose some from 3-5 months post-op. But for me really two biggest hurdles. For me the positives out way -I don't wake up with pain, I enjoy exercise - even walking feels so much better, so weird to hear from family & friends how different I look & really liking how I look for a long time, but looks is small for me compared to health benefits. Health has improved drastically. I get my labs later this month & very excited to see them. Good luck whatever you decide & God Bless. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi all, Did anyone have more than normal hair loss around 3 months post op? I heard does happen. If have, did your hair eventually change back to the way your hair was & if so about how long til you noticed you were losing hair as much? Anything help also? Thanks. 4. You look awesome. Mine was when I reached 262 remembering when I use to say not going to hit 200 & found myself saying that about 300. Also when I became pre-diabetic & other health issues becoming worse. Even walking was harder & woke up every morning with aches/pain. I had sleeve surgery on 09/19. Down to 19 - this morning, no pain in mornings. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App

Friday day of pre op diet. Already bummed

Agree -hang in there it will get better. This was the hardest part for me was the 2 wks prior to surgery. Stay focused each day. It is a very important part of the process & will be well worth it. Just stay focused thst this is for you & your surgery. I know from experience try to stay focused on your upcoming new beginning & not the food that you can't eat during the two weeks. On of the biggest things that helped me was the sugar free popsicles (but my surgeon told me that they had to be the 15 calorie ones -grape, orange & cherry box). It helped to be able to Bite into something & chew it -instead of just Soups, shakes, sugar free Jello & puddings. So if don't habe sugar free popsicles & can have them -try them -helps during these 2 wks. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App

    Getting support while being single

I am single after my surgery but pretty much did it alone before that. Wish you the best in upcoming surgery. Just take it one day at a time & focus on goals for that day. If there is any questions I can help you with going through it, let me know. It is harder not having support with you at home especially. I had my surgery on 09/19/16. Available if ever need to talk. You got this. I still feel it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App

  12. Sweetie, I am so encouraged and happy for your 50lb weight loss but I think the biggest weight that you lost was your husband. You seem to be doing so much better without him. Congratulations on your future endeavors. God Bless!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thank you. I am starting to heal & time is helping. I do feel a lot better. New body brings new partners -- many new partners

Hi, as someone who was cheated on by their husband with multiple people because he said being faithful isn't for him due to drug & sex addiction & couldn't be with one person -will tell you it hurts. I so wish he would never have went out with me & especially married me if he knew this. I do feel as others have suggested & that you may have just switched addictions. I am sure you are not alone in changing addictions but there is always help. At the least if don't want to get help you should divorce your husband & let anyone you are with that you do not want to be faithful to one person that way honest & not lying because lies hurt many. If want to seek help I suggest a good counselor also. The other additional help besides counseling can be a good support group. Just like drug & alcohol addictions the % of recovery is improved with faith based support groups such Celebrate Recovery. This group is for anyone that has hurts, habits or hangups. It is nationwide group. I go die to going through divorce. But others for drug, alcohol recovery, sex addiction, gambling. Divorce..... Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App

  22. Gucci, just said prayer all goes well for you. I am in PA so don't km now anyone had it done in Mexico but looks like many have which hope brings you comfort. Stay strong & if believe -you may be physically alone but God is always with us & also we are all will be thinking & praying for you. My soon to be ex husband was suppose to stay overnight with me while I was in overnight but left me & was never there when surgeon came to talk to me after when check on you post-op, or when I was doing my laps. Very important to get up & walk every 4 hrs like they will usually have you (helps with gas pain in shoulder that may be trapped in body some -usually left shoulder & walking helps prevent blood clots, if they put pressure pump devices on legs or stocking - accept th also -same thing as walking they are a blood clot prevention after inpatient surgeries. I have faith all will go well for you, please let us know how you are doing after & if ever want to talk -this is great place to do that. Just remember you will not be fully alone. Good luck -stay strong, YOU GOT THIS!!!! It is a new beginning like others have said to me & you & so,so true. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App
  23. I was sleeved on 09/19 & was 253 pre-surgery weight & just hit 198. Most recognize me but take longer look. I work in office & several have said wow I saw you walk by & had to take double look to figure out who it was cause they still remember when I was heavier. Best is people I see at church cause they only see me once a week & tell me how good looking. It is very nice & encouraging. Best part I think honestly is how I feel -just everything seems to have gotten easier with the weight loss. I love walking now & remember the days I had to push myself just from daily body aches from all the extra weight alone. I hardly have any pain now. Sent from my SM-S902L using the BariatricPal App
