Tomorrow is the day for me too! I find I'm not nervous about the surgery, I'm more nervous about all that comes after.
-
-
I don't have to stop taking anything except aspirin one week before and anti-inflammatories 48 hours before.
-
I will say my nut said that she's not sold on the Patches yet - she says the data just isn't in on their effectiveness yet.

@@TeresaD I have been on a modified diet since the 10th. I had to replace 2 meals each day with Protein shakes/soups, I could have low fat Snacks like a boiled egg or some sugar free Jello, and then a healthy meal with no carbs. As of today no more of that regular food. I have lost 11 pounds since the 10th.

We're the late January DSers

Mine is a few days before, on the 24th.

Want to know how to totally succeed on your first day of your pre-op diet? Get a REALLY nasty stomach bug! I recommend it for NO ONE. OMG I feel like I did a thousand crunches, but I also went from 314 to 306 in like 36 hours! Like I said, I don't recommend it. It was not fun.
I hope everyone else is doing good on their pre-op diets!

Good luck. My surgeon told me not to cheat on the pre-op diet at all. He said that the first 3-4 days will be rough, but after that, I shouldn't be hungry anymore. If I cheated, i would be hungry the whole time. It turned out to be true. So much so that the last day of clear liquids was a breeze.
This is great advice! Thank you so much

I start my pre-op diet Tuesday (surgery the 24th) - mine is one lean meat & veg meal and Meal Replacements the rest of the day. I'm also allowed up to one cup of fruit per day which I figure will make great Snacks for those time my body thinks it is starving. I was really afraid I was going to have to have a full liquid diet for two weeks, so this diet was both a relieve and seemed easy in comparison.
Good luck!

Awesome! Enjoy the holidays!

At work now but I'll look you up tomorrow from home!

Saw my surgeon and dietician yesterday. I have to be on a two week pre-op diet but it isn't horrible ... I get to have real food once a day. Thank goodness! I was dreading the possibility of all Protein Meal Replacements for two weeks.

Wow! That's so fast! Mine is as far out as it is to hopefully allow me to get a leave of absence from work. They're being difficult so we'll see.

I don't have a lot on mine, since I'm just getting started, but here's a link:

There are a few more that I follow, I'll keep an eye on this thread and if I don't see them I'll share. Or you can look and see who I'm subscribed to.

In my case it is the traditional DS.

@@Jonesy23 Congrats!
I got notified today that I have been approved as well. My surgery date is January 24

I'm in pre-op prep for a DS so thank you to everyone who is responding to this. It is helpful information.

Sorry for the double post - it is way too early for me!

Welcome I'm also pre-op and in Northern Virginia. You have a better idea when your surgery is than I do! Hopefully mine will be somewhere between mid-December and mid-January. As goofy as it sounds I like the idea of having it right around the new year - you know, new year new me. I'm working my way through all of the appointments and tests at this point. I'm also working on cutting out processed foods and reducing carbs as cbonet suggested.
Good luck!
Yes! Keep us posted about your surgery date. Loving all the suggestions from everyone. I'm in Winchester. Where are you?

I am in Manassas. I will update more about my surgery when I have more info. I don't think my doctor will discuss dates until the tests are done and insurance has approved. I guess this makes sense but right now I just want to be done with all of this and feel like I'm moving forward!

I am in Manassas. I will update once I've got more information from my doctors - but I think they don't even discuss dates until all the tests are done.

First off, congrats to both you and your husband! You're both doing awesome. Second, you are a real inspiration to me. I am 47 and am just starting this journey. Hearing stories like yours really helps.
Tomorrow is the day!

I am home and doing okay. My gas hasn't been fun but walking helps. Pain meds work well and I'm on the mend. Walk walk walk. Sip sip sip.
