    Need encouragement!

A lot of people feel that way about the gym and it's understandable. I used to hate the gym because 1) I felt like everyone was staring at the "fat girl", 2) I didn't know how to use the equipment, and 3) I love the outdoors, but then I got a personal trainer for a few weeks and my anxiety level dropped. First, he got me to realize that no one's really paying attention and if they were and I'm creeped out then tell the workers and they'll handle it. Secondly, he taught me how to use the equipment and developed me a workout routine which included some outdoor activities. Finally, he helped me determine the best time to hit the gym to avoid the crowd. LOL Not sure if any of my issues are the same for you but it's just a thought. As for what to do, the treadmill is a great choice because it gives you that cardio workout but weight lifting will be great to build the muscles and help with tightening/toning the skin some. I had a sleeve before my recent bypass so I had to conquer my gym issues a few years ago. :-)

    Pain three days out

So sorry you ended up back in the OR but I'm glad you are feeling much better and didn't try to tough it out like most of us would have. You know your body and this is a great example of that. Hope the rest of your recovery is eventful free.

    When does hair loss begin?

I was sleeved a few years ago and I honestly didn't notice any hair loss or thinning. I pray the same for you.

    Burping and feel no restriction

I felt the same way about not feeling no restriction but then I realized I am only drinking liquids so maybe that's why. LOL I'm so ready for tomorrow because I go for my 2 week follow-up and will be on soft foods!!! Hope I will notice a difference when I eat something with more consistency.

    Denial?! [emoji54][emoji24]

I have UHC as well and I'm wondering if it's the surgeon that's the issue. Is your surgeon's practice considered a "Bariactric Center of Excellence" because that was necessary for my insurance? I know each company has its own criteria but my UHC provider required my surgeon to be part of this and I had no issue with getting approved. Check and see if that's the issue.
  6. As stated by several others, you are absolutely beautiful and you are amazing at writing. I'm sorry you had to endure that on FB. Like you said some people are just clueless sometimes while others are just hateful and hurtful. I just had wls and already have 2 people in my life that I had to remove one being a "friend" of 33 years because the comments about me being skinny in the future and slick remarks about them going to gym and working hard was already too much. They are both obese as well and the thought of me someday being smaller than them is frightening I guess, but I don't need that mess in my life so if cutting them is what I need to ensure a healthier, happier me then I consider it a "great loss". Thank you for this post because I know one day I will encounter this ignorance and I need to be prepared. You keep working hard and letting your beauty and words inspire us. Don't allow anyone's ignorance put you back in the place you've fought so hard to come from.

    Post op in the hospital

I'm 6 days post op and I was given 30 oxycodones and have only used 3 and those used in the first days. I had a slight cold and the coughing caused much abdominal pain so that's the only reason I took something. However, I have a high threshold for pain and didn't use pain meds after my c-section either. I was given Toradol and Tylenol in the hospital and that kept me too sedated. I'm slowly tolerating Unjury now but most protein just doesn't agree with me now. My doctor is cool with this for these first weeks as long as I'm getting my fluids. I took a gown to the hospital but didn't use because they were doing too many checks and the drain was a mess. LOL Honestly, I only used my phone charger and toothbrush and toothpaste while there. I only stayed overnight and discharged late afternoon so keep that in mind.
  8. I only requested 4 weeks but my doctor recommend 6 weeks so my job just said for me to let them know in advance if I need the additional 2 weeks. My job also recommended I apply for STD and FMLA which were both approved so I'm happy about that. This first week has been interesting with today being the worse. I guess my body finally realized what happened and had a moment of spazzing out. LOL But I'm back to feeling good so I'm so thankful for that and these weeks off.
  9. Ladystorm you are so right! Getting creative with the tomato Soup and some spices made a world of difference for me. I just can't do chicken/beef broths and everything else just tastes too sweet.

    Sleeping position

I'm a side sleeper so I sleep on my right side with a wedge pillow on that side. I've been sleeping like that since I came home Wednesday (I had surgery Tuesday) and it's been wonderful! :-) I had bypass surgery.
  12. I refuse to weigh myself right now. I had surgery Tuesday (8/23) and that scale just looks like it will cause depression with all of the new changes going on with my body right now. LOL I will weigh myself this upcoming Tuesday and see where I'm at so I'm hoping all of the IV fluids and whatnot have exited my body. Congrats to you all wherever you are in your journey and it's great to read the comments on here for good advice and encouragement.

    My Gastric Bypass Story!

Congrats on the surgery! I have surgery this Tuesday (8/23) so I don't have any advice or a success story to share at the moment but I know you will do great. ????
  16. Thank you for the encouraging words. I'm trying to keep focus on the big picture and telling myself that it will take time to get this weight just like it took time to pack it all on. I will definitely keep you posted and continue to seek advice and tips from everyone on here. This site has really made getting ready for this surgery much easier to process.
  17. I love eggs and I'm not liking the thought of not being able to eat them for any amount of time but I'll survive. LOL
  18. @@fit2bme Thanks for saying no 2 journeys are the same because I see so many people comparing their weight loss to others and getting discouraged for not losing as much as fast as someone else. I have told myself daily even though I don't have my surgery until 8/23 because I know it will be easy to fall i to that trap. Congrats to both you anf @@Djmohr success so far!
