Finally broke the stall.......60 days to the day. Just stayed the course and did what I was supposed to do and waited, and waited, and waited and watched the scale and complained and ask my nut 100 questions too. But, I finally broke it!

No offense, but you know you're a newbie, also?
I don't care if you've done 50 years of research. Until you've actually had the surgery, what you think you know goes out the window.
It's kind of like the people who say they know all about how to be a parent because they're a nanny.
    I mean, I'm 16 months out and still don't know sh*t.

As a Newbie, I think your comment is quite harsh. I have not even had surgery yet, but looking at the forum so I know what to expect.
Please consider that Newbies are just that, NEW. Not everyone has the hang of this site yet, and searching is very very difficult on mobile. I've been watching this forum for a year, and have not even seen a section for stall.
Being rude, is not helpful to anyone.

connie6140 reacted to KristenLe in How much should I be able to eat
The average banana is over 4 ozs (peeled) - which at 2 weeks out my plan suggests 1-2 ozs of pureed foods at a meal. How much are you supposed to have? Mushed/pureed foods will quickly go through your sleeve and that's why it's so important to measure and stick to your guidelines. At 2 weeks - your nerves in your stomach are still not healed - so you won't necessarily know if you are full. I don't think the issue is your "pouch being too big" as much as it is you ate too much. Your sleeve isn't always going to stop you from overeating - we have to stop ourselves (stick to the suggested amounts and measure).
I believe in another post you called out someone for being rude indicating this was a "support group" - yet your replies to people trying to offer you guidance and answers were extremely rude. If you don't want honest responses - don't ask questions. We've lost too many experienced, successful folks on this forum because of these types of posts and that's not good for any of us.

@@KristenLe Thank you so much for the response! So what's a good PPI? Is there any over the counter or will I need to call my doctor! I think you are exactly right! The acid makes perfect sense! I've been eating Tums but it only helps for just a few short minutes!

obviously this is not enough calories to live on.
set a timer. prepackage Snacks to keep with you and work at it all day. clearly you can not rely on feeling hungry to trigger eating. either you will make it a priority to nourish your body now, or your body will make you pay for the neglect with poor health later.
what are your Protein and calories needed in order to maintain the weight you want to be?
and - if there is any fear of eating or fear of gaining weight get help to address that because you can't go on like this. avoiding food is as serious as overindulging.

Hi Jaysmm! I am 5'3" and weighed 188! I was sleeved on August 1st! Don't worry about anybody else approving or disapproving of you having surgery! It's not their life! The fact we chose early on to do something about our OBESE problem is a good thing as far as I am concerned! I personally did not want to wait until I had 100 lbs or more to lose and that was the best and right decision for my life! I had spent way too much money on failed diets and continued to gain it all back and then some! Yes, I had other issues BUT they were issues I was on medication for and had been for years and they were not the deciding factor for me opting to have the surgery! The fact that I was OBESE, no matter it was on the low side of obesity, was the deciding factor for me! I've lost 14 lbs. but it was what I lost prepping for surgery! I have stayed off the scales since my surgery and plan on doing that until all my swelling is gone! You do not have as much to lose so it will come off slower! Don't stress over or focus on trying to lose the weight overnight but focus on this being a tool to help you make healthier food choices and live a healthier life! Stick to the plan your doc and nutritionist gave you and the weight will come off! Good luck to you and good for you doing something early on and not waiting! I am very grateful I was blessed to be able to get this done before I was 200, 300 or even 400 lbs. heavier!!!

I still have swelling and sore around my incisions but I'm feeling like I am making progress every day! There is so much in the beginning that you are so focused on, like Protein intake and Fluid intake, medications that you kinda don't have much time to realize that a week has already passed! I had a horrible hiatal hernia that had to be repaired but the excitement of starting this new chapter in my life makes you forget the pain! It's like having a baby! Some people recoop sooner than others so on the first day they tell you to get so much liquid in.....do it! I didn't the first night and was back at the hospital for two bags of Fluid after being stuck 8 times, in places that were horrible just to find a vein. So I can say, the only thing I would do differently is that first night no matter how hard it is or how bad you feel, get your fluids in and you will do fine! When you start feeling unreal pain get up and walk and it helps! Everything your surgical team tells you is the best advice to live by during it all!! Until Saturday I thought I was never going to feel ok but when I was able to start with Protein it jump started my body and I started getting more energy and started feeling better! It's a serious surgery with pain but it's one I would do again knowing what I know now! I am excited for us all because we have been given an amazing tool and we don't ever have to be obese again

To pass the time, start practicing eating extremely slow. Sipping all day long! Wean yourself off caffeine and carbonated drinks! Also, rearrange your closet from biggest to smallest clothes so that as you lose you know what section of your closet and drawers to chose from! Rearrange your pantry and start stocking up on Water and things you will be using after your surgery! Start researching new ways to prepare your food and look up pureed food recipes! If you do all this and start making lists of things to get done and have done....your surgery will be here before you know it! It will also help prepare you mentally!!! Good luck guys!!!

I don't think YOUR goal weight has anything to do with whether or not this person needed the surgery. There are tons of other factors you know nothing about that could be at play here. A BMI over 30 is still obese.

I had all my testing before my pre op and at my pre op.....all questions were answered and I had my surgery one week later!!! I met with my nutritionist the same day I had my pre op because I was a little over an hour away. I was self pay so I only saw my doctor the first initial visit and wanted the surgery, then all the testing was up to me and I did it all quickly, then my pre op and surgery one week after! All this for me was June 27 (first visit) to August 1st surgery!! All went quickly! My nurse told me some people wait and they still need tests 4 to 5 months after their first visit! So if you are ready, get everything you can do yourself done and call them after and tell them you are ready! Good luck!

I started with a BMI of 32. My first appoitment to meet the doctor and committing to the surgery, I started PIGGING. I only had to be on the liquid diet 5 days prior to surgery. I was going from 183 to 188 then I started the liquid diet for the 5 days prior to surgery. The day of surgery...August 1st, I weighed 176. Two days ago I weighed 174.8 and today I am back up to 176! Having said all this was to say I have decided to let my body heal and stay off the scales. I still have so much swelling. The day after I was sleeved, I had to go back to the hospital and be given two bags of fluids for dehydration and had to come home with my drain tube because of bleeding. Finally got my drain tube out and am going to concentrate on healing and I will worry about weighing again in 3 or 4 weeks. For now, it's time to heal, sip and protein! I truly think starting with a lower BMI is going to mean losing at a slower pace but it's not about losing it overnight but more about a lifetime of better food choices Congrats on the weight you have already lost

I can't resist, but maybe it's because I haven't had enough newb outrage directed at me yet?
Not even taking into consideration the fact that it can impact healing and might be bad to do just from an overall "you just had surgery" standpoint, to me, this is the equivalent of saying "Well, I just had a few cupcakes and only one glass of pure sugar, and I didn't get sick, so I'm fine!"
Alcohol is empty, useless calories. You are not just risking your health, you are adding back in bad for you food/drink and risking your long term progress towards losing weight. Is this a habit that really needs to be reestablished so early?
One of the big things that WLS allows is the time needed to kick out all of your former habits and learn to eat and drink healthier, because you can't hold nearly as much as before AND you lose the tolerances for fatty, sugary foods and experience low hunger for some time. If you're not willing to wipe the slate clean and restart during this short time this happens, well, your body may lose weight in the first 6 months to a year just due to the sleeve restriction and shock of low calorie eating in the early days, but it will eventually stall out and then regain if you eat and drink the same way you did before surgery.
But I do agree: y'all doing all the drinking so early after surgery are adults, and if you're not willing to deny yourself things that you know aren't good for you even for a few months, that's your decision. Good luck with all that.
