You can find them on here which is where I saw them and asked my nurse about it. They are from PatchMD and my nurse raved about it. (She was even wearing one at the time). They love them because you get all the Vitamins you need and completely bypass the stomach. (<-- pun intended - haha). I was told to get the Multivitamin Plus patch, B12 Energy Plus Patch & the Anti-Aging Topical Patch. Through PatchMD I got a discount for autoship of 40% off (good through 12/31/16 on new orders) so what would normally cost me $60 a month costs me $36. I just read a thread over on the 'POST surgery' forum about POP. a newbie post related to drinking soda after surgery, a vet answered them and got herself torn sideways from the OP.
I feel bad because this person was QUITE obviously trying to only help, and give adequate information. For example, the OP carried on about their 'pouch' and stretching it.
The vet simply responded that a sleeve is not the same as a RNY pouch and that it really can't be stretched according to anatomical make up. Well, so much for trying to help! When I was a NOOB i was so happy to get good advice from the vets. in fact, that is how I learned the majority of the information that I needed pre-op. Obviously the other newbies couldn't give me advice based on experience, but the vets then were SO helpful (that includes many people on this forum).
So building off the other thread related to vets leaving, I look at this and totally understand why some vets have left....

I'm more than six years out. My sleeve is the same size it was a year out.
I've had a child (got pregnant two years post op) and I lost weight past my goal in my fifth year post op. The sleeve does not expire. I still have a huge amount of restriction.
For example, we had our rare junk food dinner last night and all I could eat was one taco. I'm still not hungry and I'm easily maintaining between 114-118 pounds when I started at 242 on surgery day.
The sleeve works. Don't panic, or listen to people that don't have one.

I was scheduled for RNY. When I woke from surgery I was told I was given the sleeve due to twisted intestines. I will have to work harder to lose the weight. It will also take longer to lose. However I have had no issues with the sleeve. It's definitely better than nothing!

As soon as I can I'll be in the pool every day. I told my NUT that I'll be doing laps telling myself "I don't want flabby arms"!
However, I also told myself when I decided to do this surgery that I was going all the way. Meaning nips, tucks, lifts whatever it takes at the end to get rid of any excess. I don't care how little excess skin I have it's going. Keeping it would disgust me more than being fat. So I'm opening a savings account to put money in every month that normally would go to an amazing holiday (I went to Australia & New Zealand right before surgery and spent over $5,000). So nothing more than 4 day weekend trips for me until I am where I want to be - health & body wise.

I know I am opting for plastic surgery after I reached my goal weight and have been stable for a few months. I'm glad I found this site because I will now donate any excess skin.

P.S. It's Donor not Doner. You don't want to be a kebab. Haha!

My nails have been growing as well. I hope they thicken up because they used to always break and so I would try to keep them short. (Also I'm an accountant so using a calculator with nails is a pain). However I'd be happy to take that pain for pretty nails.

Super excited to finally have fingernails that I can file and paint. All of the Protein I'm now consuming (instead of carbs) is really showing in my nails. I think I will schedule a manicure for just before Christmas. This is a nice side effect of my new healthier eating habits.

I had surgery to be pretty. I'm sure I am the only person that had surgery for vanity reasons... okay I mean, I was prediabetic and in a lot of pain and couldn't handle steps, yadda yadda. But me looking at myself in the mirror and hating what I saw was what pushed me over the edge. Being jealous of people who were living full and happy lives did it as well.
I worried some about hair loss and loose skin, because I'm a self pay patient. Skin removal is not always covered by insurance-- in most cases, in fact, I don't believe it is. So I would be looking at an additional expense if I went through with it.
So, yes... people will ask about loose skin because they're thinking ahead. Can I afford to have it removed? Do I want another surgery? Is this decision NOW worth what I will go through in a few years? i have a friend who had RNY who lost a ton of weight but can't afford skin removal, despite the fact that her pannus is beginning to be bothersome. It's a valid question that people ask, and asking here is research.
A little something to remember while you're judging people for looking at the whole picture.

I agree with the OP regarding the intent of this post. I have always said, I will take loose skin over my unhealthy morbidly obese body every single time. Those that whine about it, clearly don't get it and may be looking for excuses to keep their round plump selves. It might take them some time, but if the weight continues to creep on, their health will be the driver in the end. I know it was for me and my only regret is waiting too long to have the surgery before it damaged my body further.
That being said, removing the extra skin is not just about vanity. And she is right, plastics is a very serious high risk procedure that is absolutely barbaric and leaves you with very large scars. The scars are the trade off for the loose skin.
I will take the scars over the pain from dragging around all this low hanging skin anyday.
It hurts and pulls on my body. Having had 4lbs of skin removed from my arms has helped me with the pain in my neck. Yes, i did have my arms done because they were so big and embarrassing.
In January, I will have my tummy and breasts done not only to look and feel better but to tighten my core and support my back. I have a very bad back and this skin that drops lower as you lose weight pulls on your body.
At the end of the day, I agree......the extra skin is better than all that unhealthy fat, the scars are better than all that loose hanging skin.
I would do it all again in a heart beat. I am 47 days away from having my TT and breast lift with augmentation done. I am NOT looking forward to it. Plastics is way more painful than WLS but I am dreaming about have a nice tight core again and cannot wait to see if it helps my back.
Just sharing some before plastics and after so people get a sense for how loose hanging skin can effect you.

As a person that has lost over 170 lbs and has to deal with skin every day. You are really ignorant as to what living with excess skin is like.
My need to remove skin is not just vanity. The skin I have is painful. If I don't clean my belly button very carefully multiple times a day it gets infected.
Skin is something worth worry about. I spend a lot of money on Shapewear to hold it in so it doesn't hurt when I move. I have to be careful and spend a lot of $$$$ buying bras so they work with my skin issues. I have to deal with balancing wearing shapewear all the time and not ending up with constant yeast infections.
Vanity come dead last in my concerns about my skin. I wish I had thought about the skin issues and considered them long before I let myself sit at over 300 pounds for half my life but now I am paying the price.
It isn't a frivolous concern, the health benefits far out weigh the skin issues but there still are skin issues and they are serious issues.
Next time post your rants, in rants.

When I was preparing to have my sleeve surgery, I spent a lot of time on this forum. I found most of the people here to be very helpful. Even though there's every kind of personality here, we all have one thing in common: we wanted to lose weight and be healthier.
Approaching any surgery is scary. There are real risks, and real rewards when all goes well.
I have struggled with weight my whole life. Total sugar junkie. Used food to replace every unmet need I had, to repress every emotion for which I was unprepared to deal.
I gained and lost hundreds of pounds over the course of my life. Hundreds.
When my husband died eight years ago it broke me. I shattered, and it took me almost a decade to put myself back together. During that time, I lost everything: my beloved, my home, my income, even my sense of self. And I spent the next eight years eating to fill this giant empty void inside my being where someone who I thought of as the love of my life used to be.
I ballooned up bigger than I had ever been, surpassing my previous high weight and moving into the 320s.
I avoided social situations, and only left the house when necessary. I was afraid I would have to ask for a stronger chair when invited to sit down for dinner at somebody's home. I was afraid that I would need to sit down every 20 or 30 steps during a leisurely stroll through the mall with a friend. My body ached; sometimes the pain was so bad that I could scarcely move-even sitting still was painful.
    Life had become extremely small.
Deciding to get the surgery was surprisingly easy, but getting through the approval process and going through with the surgery summoned up terror in me that had been there since my first surgery when I was three years old.
I thought it would be a miracle if I were able to get the surgery, simply because my trauma was so severe for so many years that it seemed like an impossible feat to put myself in the hands of medical professionals, who I have never trusted all my life.
With lots of support from my mother, my sister who had already had the surgery, and my therapist, I was able to get the sleeve.
    And it changed my life!
I also decided that I was going to make up for lost time now that I was going to be able to physically get around again. I sold all my stuff, ditched my apartment, bought an RV and moved in! And it's wonderful! I could not have fit in here, nor could I do the things necessary when living in an RV, at my previous weight.
This surgery has allowed me an opportunity for a whole new lease on life. I am officially one year postop, and I am down about 130 pounds, with another 30 to go. It's amazing the difference a single year can make!
If you know that this is right for you, and the only thing giving you pause is fear that is not coming from your true intuition: there are many people on these forums who feel that this surgery has saved our lives.
I am one of those people. Here is a before and present a photo of me, in a year, this could be you!

Why do people have the need to not be truthful about the surgery. I had been morbidly obese my whole life if I could lose almost a hundred pound in 6 months it would have been done. When I started my Journey 3 years ago 12/9/2013 I was 400lbs and asking people how they lost the wait and they told me that lie but after I had the surgery they confessed. Remember you may inspire others to get healthy. Remember this a tool to lose the weight but it's a life time of work.
