I wouldn't worry as much about stretching as I would about damaging your healing sleeve. Everyone's plan is different, and I would definitely suggest you stick to your surgeon's plan.
Having said that, my plan allowed for *some* soft foods immediately after surgery. Things that could easily slide through a funnel such as broth (obviously), perhaps sugar free Jello or popsicles, and a bite of yogurt or some runny scrambled egg, but only a bite or two is what we were told and you must chew it extremely well....but again, that was MY plan. You should really check with your NUT/Surgeon before going off of your plan. Most of the hunger you experience at this point is nothing more than "head hunger" because your body is so used to receiving food on a regular basis....it will pass. For me, Water and chicken broth really helped, and if I felt super-hungry, I would make my Protein shakes a bit thicker (less Water or almond milk) than normal so it felt more substantial.
    Best of luck!

I did it too. I am not suggesting that it was the right thing to do, but I did it. i did not stretch my sleeve nor did any damage occur. 3 years later the sleeve works great. I never had a single bad consequence.

I'm the exact same way I'm a week post op and I'm so damn hungry I ate a salad, but I really wanted chick-Fil-a. It's hard, just keep the faith

Ok. So I know that by posting this, I'm opening myself up to lots of backlash and criticism... But i will still go ahead with this post because I really do need words of advice, wisdom...
I am 2 weeks out from surgery. I knew very clearly that surgery will not be the magic pill. I knew I would have to work very hard making good food choices, eating slowly, and eating the right amount. But... I have frequently been making bad food choices and forgetting to eat slowly. Each time this happens I deal with lots of pain and sometimes vomit. I feel that there is a disconnect between my brain and my mouth. I know what I'm supposed to be doing. I know this is the only way to succeed post vsg , but I am still having a hard time putting it into practice...

Just get back on track and don't have anything off-plan again. The pre-op diet is important to shrink your liver - making for a safer surgery. It's also a good time to learn how to deal with cravings and emotional eating - as you can't go off plan post-op or you will risk significant complications. Be sure to have your food options handy and prepare for days at work, etc. If you feel like you want to cheat - go for a walk, find a distraction, read a book, color, etc.
    Stay strong!!!
