    Still thinking

No regrets at all. Sleeved 8/31/16. HW 310 SW 278.4 CW 234.4 Down a total of 75.6 pounds since I started this joust (44 post op 2- months). I have energy, my joints don't hurt any more, my BP is down, I don't huff and puff when I walk, I sleep better, I CAN PLAY WITH MY GRAND BABIES, and I'm not hungry. My only gripe is constipation -but that is it. I'm just beginning my journey. My only regret is I wish I had done it sooner. Good luck to you on your decision! 2. I will honestly miss, the small sum of money I spent yearly on clothes since I HATED clothes shopping. It was so depressing to see myself in all those mirrors in clothes that were as big as tents. Now that the lard is shedding, my pocket book is shrinking with all the clothes and shoe shopping replacements. On the other hand, I've learned I rather like clothes and shoe shopping - plus, I really take in the steps going from store to store! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Too much Constipation

I'm exactly 2 months out today. I've had the same exact problem with constipation this whole time. Milk of Mag did finally work, but I had to take it twice a day, 3 days in a row. Now, I take two stool softeners every morning and I drink Miralax every morning, to try to keep myself more regular. I also purchased a squatty potty from BBB, and that has also helped. I wish I could say that I don't have any more probs with constipation, but I still do. Note: everything I'm currently using, is at the suggestion of my surgeon and the PA. 13. I was sleeved on 08/31/16, and have had a relatively smooth recovery. A few bouts of constipation and fear that there wasn't enough of my stomach removed since I have not felt any restriction, but nonetheless, an uneventful time. I had my follow up appointment with my surgeon on Friday and he said a couple of things (which I now have in writing), that really bothered me. First, when I told him that I did not feel any restriction, he told me that "the staple line affects about 2/3 of the stomach and the remaining "untouched" part of the stomach, is about the size of a fist. 5-6 cm wide. In every single patient. Every time." Really? I never learned this in my Options class, in my Bariatric Support meetings, or just in general doing the research I did before having the surgery. I originally wanted the RNY, but because I have a huge hernia, my surgeon said the risks outweighed the benefits and he would only do the sleeve. I really have no complaints about the sleeve - I've already lost 36 pounds which is pretty significant, but I'm scared that I don't feel a restriction. I'm weighing and measuring all my food to ensure I don't over eat, but it's still a concern I have. I didn't get severely morbidly obese overnight, and I didn't take this surgery lightly. I'm so scared that when my hunger finally comes back, the lack of restriction is going to make it easy to overeat. I never want to overeat again. Second, I asked him what his goal weight is for me since it's something that was never discussed. He told me that he will be satisfied if I lose 50-70% of my excess body weight. He said that anything more than that is a "bonus." I told him that I wanted to lose 100% of my excess body weight and get to a normal BMI (50-70% doesn't even get me close to it). His excact words are, "Losing 100% of your excess body weight is unrealistic and not a healthy goal, mentally." I feel rather discouraged right now. I am very greatul that I had the surgery and for the ease of my healing, but I'm concerned now that I went into this with unrealistic expectations. I feel no restriction, apparently 1/3 of my stomach remains untouched, and apparently, a goal of losing 100% of my excess weight is unrealistic...Booo!!!!!!

    Walking post op.

I did all of my normal routines the day after I left the hospital - which included grocery shopping, and taking my grandkids to the park. I did nap quite a bit the first few days, but I honestly felt great! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    f**king freezing

I live in the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs area) - hot desert. I've been freezing when the temp goes below 76. It was overcast and started raining today (very rarely rains). I'm in flannels, socks, and a heavy comforter - still cold. This winter when it really gets cold, is going to suck. On the positive - glad my insulation is going away! Looking for August sleevers

I had my surgery on 8/31/16. You can email me, if you like. So far, everything has been pretty amazing. I didn't have any complications from surgery - except constipation which seems to visit me on a weekly basis. That's my only "complaint" - constipation. I anticipate when I can start adding more Fiber to my diet, things will move easier . The weight loss has been going well... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
