    What's the skinny on coffee?

I had to quit caffeine 2 months prior to surgery. Kaiser in So Cal (including my surgeon), say that caffeine can trigger the hunger hormone and ulcers, so it's not recommended at all. Not having my coffee, was the toughest part before and after surgery but I'm going to follow their recommendation because I don't want to cause myself ulcers or hunger. 3. What I wanted to say with the above quote @ alwtg, is that's amazing! Congrats on a job well done! I'm 3.5 weeks post op and started this journey in Feb at a 57 BMI, I'm now at a 44 BMI and I'm feeling better everyday. Seeing all of your successes, is very inspirational! Thank you all for sharing. 7. After going to urgent care this evening to help remove an impact (there was no bowel prep prior to my surgery 2/12 weeks ago), I'm now waiting in the ER since the urgent care didn't have a "vacuum." No more pride...this is crap. Literally!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hiatal hernia

Mine would have been one night, but it turned to two because I threw up a few times. It was likely from the antibiotic they were giving me. As soon as they removed the antibiotic IV, I was fine and was discharged later that day. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Looking for a Sleeve Buddy!

Hi All, it will be two weeks tomorrow since we were sleeved on 8/31! I'm doing great and see my doctor today. My scale says I'm down 22 pounds since 8/31, and I lost 32 pounds prior to surgery. I'm having some pain under my left ribs and I'm getting pretty fatigued by the afternoon, but overall, I'm doing well! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Good luck to both of you! You got this!

Good luck, today! You got this. Here's to a quick recovery!
  15. I was at home getting my 8 year old ready for school. We had the "Today Show" on and we're watching all of the terrible things happening on the East coast. I had just started law school two weeks earlier and all I could think of, is I can't believe I'm going to school when all of these innocent people have lost their lives. 16. I'm having pain in a similar area, but it's more underneath the left side of my ribs. I'm two weeks out on Weds and see my surgeon tomorrow so will follow up with him then... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Non supportive spouse

Geez - I feel really bad for you! I thought my husband was bad for driving me to the hospital, and practically shoving me out onto the curb while I tried to stay in the car having "second thoughts." Anyway, I honestly didn't need his help (other than driving me back for the hospital and carrying groceries). I was taking care of him and the grand babies the day I returned from the hospital on 9/2. Good luck to you!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I think it's normal to second guess whether or not to have WLS. You've lost 40 pounds without WLS, and that is really awesome! I'm not sure what your weight is or how much you have to lose. I don't know if you're close to a normal BMI or if your BMI is in the severely morbidly obese range. I can tell you that if you've only got a little bit of weight to lose (and I'm not going to pretend that I know what that is because my "little" might be your huge), then maybe you shouldn't do the WLS. But let me only tell you about my experience, which is only two weeks out on Wednesday. I lost 34 pounds before surgery and I busted my butt doing it. I worked out, logged my food, gave up carbs, and ate 1,400 calories a day. It took me 4 months to get that 34 pounds off. Since my surgery almost two weeks ago, I've lost an additional 22 pounds. That's right - 22 pounds. I have done nothing more than follow my NUT and doctor's orders. But it's a whole heck of a lot easier to do, because I'm not hungry. Not at all. Not even a little bit. There's no cheating on this. There's no "I will do better tomorrow." This is balls to the wall time. I honestly reconsidered having surgery but I'm so very glad I didn't talk myself out of it. I have failed so many times in the past and this time, I want to see those pounds gone forever. Whatever decision you make, make it the decision you can live with. Good luck to you!!! I'm dying inside!

You've lost 30 pounds in less than 2 months! That's great! I'm new to this - I was sleeved on 8/31. I know everyone is different and we all lose at a different pace. I also know from reading other posts, you are not alone. There are people out there who have felt or feel the same way that you do. Have you talked to your NUT? Are you getting your recommended Protein in and your fluids?
  20. I love garlic, but maybe some of the pain is from the garlic Water??? I'm not sure, but your tummy might be sensitive to it right now. Just a guess. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

4 days post op and I'm worried

I haven't had any problems either. I'm just a week ahead of you, and was easily able to meet my liquid and Protein goals without a hitch. I was and am, also scared like you. Fortunately, there were some vets that read my post and said that it's normal. I just tried to remind myself of that - I'm normal . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I'm 5 days post-op and have been doing very well getting my liquids in (or at least I think so). Yesterday, I added a scoop of Isopure to my Soup, and I was able to gag it down okay. I don't like luke warm soup and I definetly am not a fan of clumps of powder in my soup. Today, I had the bright idea of cooking it into the soup. What a disaster. Most of it burned to the bottom of the pan and what remained that I tried to consume, had chunks of Protein clumps. After a few sips and a very terrible pain my chest, I gave up. I really don't like drinkng the sweet stuff. I'm drinking the Premier Protein shakes (2 a day) and I also have the flavored ISOPURE Fruit drinks. They are all so sweet, I can't stand them. Any suggestions on adding the mix to either soup or something non-sweet???? My surgeon wants me getting at least 80 g of protein in a day.... Thank you for your help! Sincerely, Naomi
