    1 year anniversary today

Wow congrats! I had my one year anniversary a few days ago! I am down 61 pounds- would like to lose about 5-10 more. It's great isn't it!

    Gastric Sleeve - BMI 31

My BMI was 36 and I weighed 212 at surgery time. I weigh about 151 right now. I am one year and one week out . It's been very successful to me. I am not that interested in food which is pretty magical. People told me - well you only have 50-70 pounds to lose you can do it- and I tried- for almost 30 years ( I am 40) - and it didn't work. I am very happy I did it . I have about 1200 calories a day and work out at least four times a week.

The last few are a struggle.

I started at 212 and am at 150 right now. One year out today. I have to lose 9 more pounds to be a normal weight according to BMI. I eat about 1200 calories a day and work out a lot. I have a lot more muscle than I used too that's for sure. I am not sure I will lose the rest. But here's hoping. This was not really helpful to youA but our stats were so similar i just wanted to chime in. Great luck to you

    Needing help!

Wow! Why do you have to lose 40 pounds? This might be a dumb question - sorry-

    Swallowing pills?

I swallow two at a time now- ( year out) but I have never tried to swallow more than that ever - so not sure
  7. It took about 50 pounds for anyone to notice me--- yes I find it uncomfortable- I usually change the subject very fast- ask a question about them- people - usually- love to talk about themselves [emoji23]

    1.5 weeks out

That is pretty uncommon - I could barely have a sip of water at that point. Congrats on the weight loss!

    Complications

Ugh I am so sorry. I really struggled with nausea for about 4-5 months. No meds worked. It will get better. I often was shocked that I was still upright as little as I ate and drank!

    Hair loss without Weight loss

I am pretty convinced it's all just a crap shoot- I was too nauseous to eat until like month 5-6- I never ever got enough protein and def not enough calories. I didn't lose any hair. Good news is I think it always starts growing back. I know it must be so hard To be patient though!!

When will this nausea go away.... vent

Well mine lasted for 3-4 months -- for awhile the dr said it was normal until finally he admitted it was really abnormal. No medicine made me feel better. It was terrible. I was terrified it was never going away. But it did. I know this is not very good news- but it did go away eventually. One day at a time. It WILL get better .

Invited to wedding 3 weeks after surgery

I was eating nothing at three weeks that wasn't liquid and had zero zero appetite- besides that seemed normal- go! Have fun

    VSG after childbirth - breastfeeding

I would def ask your doc. I couldn't eat hardly at all for like 6-7 months .
  14. That is more than a pound a day. I am not sure why you would not be happy with that .
  15. I would have your sleeve checked if you can eat a cup of food. I am 10 months out and I recently started maybe being able to eat a cup- def not if I eat protein . I am not trying to discourage you AT ALL. I just don't think that sounds normal. But I will say o was super sick with mine in the beginning and he dr thinks I can eat less than normal people now due to that?? Who know. It does hurt to check Also I promise you it will all get better. It took me 5-6 months to be glad I did it .

    Stall at 8 months WTH

I am ten months out and eat about 1200 calories a day--/ I have been at 151-154 for a few months. I think you def need more calories?? I am no expert though- I have not been doing protein first so I need to change that for sure

    Chicken wings and worry

I had chicken wings about 6 months after surgery and two was pretty painful - everyone is different

    Decision between sleeve and bypass??

Exactly what he said [emoji1312][emoji1312][emoji1312] The doctor that did mine rarely does bypasses anymore . Unless foe special cases of reflux issues, he said he thought sleeves were more effective- less changing of your body .

    Food Does Not Taste Good

It gets so much better I promise. In the beginning I could smell people's breath in a waiting room- and a refrigerator almost made me puke with all of those smells ! I still don't crave stuff and nothing sounds super awesome to eat- ( almost one year out ) but I mean I guess that's a little of the point- I am never craving something to eat really

    Grilled shrimp

I would say three - five months out- I couldn't eat most protein for a very long time

    Depression and regret after WLS

I have been overweight my entire life. I had a few weeks of being like- " what the he** did I do" but it passed. I couldn't be happier.
  22. I am 5'4 and 212 when I had my surgery. I think my BMI was 36... anyway I got lots of the same- of you shouldn't do it- not big enough etc--- when my dr said- I think that's a great idea ( to do the sleeve) that's what pushed me. I am now down to 152 and still need to lose a little more- wouldn't change it for anything- my obsession with food is gone. That is the nicest part. It just doesn't control me anymore
  23. I am seven months out and I did not lose any hair... I think I am in the clear?? If I am then I totally think it is a crap shoot to if you lose it or not. I did not hit my protein goals for a few months after surgery- i was pretty sick for about 6 weeks and didn't eat hardly anything- and my dr is very laid back about Protein goals in the beginning. anyway/ I did take biotin a month before surgery and every day since but besides that I have not been a model patient. All that to just say- I think it's all a crap shoot on hair loss.
  24. tenseintexas

    Didn't lose any hair!

I did in the beginning- I was freaked out because I never had before!!! I was convinced I was going to have to change to a bypass- or get throat cancer ( I am dramatic) it wasn't waking me up at night or choking me like some People but it was lots of Bubbles in my throat and burping and burning a little at night- went away about 6 months!!!
