  1. I was worrying it was only me that felt like I was failing! All good intentions, but appetite as big as ever! 1st fill in a couple of weeks,I cant wait.
  2. Hi,I was banded on 1st March 08,and my doc does 1st fill at around 6-8 weeks.I have no restriction at all at the mo,and its just like I have never had surgery(apart from my scars) I cat wait for my fill,I feel like I am failing at the mo as Im not losing any weight and still over-eating.
  3. Congrats to all the other ex-addicts! I cant stand the smell of smoke now..or smokers lol To think I must have smelled that bad to all the non-smokers when I was 20+ a day! Not on patches now,but I still find my food cravings harder to beat. Feel so much better for it-and I find if I tell myself its not that hard to give up,it somehow makes it easier. I do not want to smoke again ever!
  4. Just an update...still no smoking! Waiting for my 1st band fill.
  5. I didnt get YES as an answer from the NHS. Had to fund op myself or wait untill my BMI got above 50. I would love to have gone with the NHS and spent my £8000 on something else!
  6. My GP helped as much as she could with my weight problem,I had been on all the usual diet pills etc,she tried to refer me for NHS banding, with no luck.I didnt have enough weight related problems to be considered even though my BMI was 46. She said she would keep refering me to different health authorities, but I told her I would rather just go ahead and self pay...at least I would get the help I needed faster! And,money talks doesnt it.. 2 weeks later I had my band fitted!! My GP has been wonderful, she supported me 110% and if it had been down to her I would have got helped by the NHS.I was lucky,I had sold my house and moved in with parents,so I had enough money put by to afford banding.
  7. Well done to you as well! Im finding food is more of a challenge than the smoking! Just think how healthy we will feel in a few months. Thankyou for all the positive words. :biggrin2:
  8. I have smoked for about 18 years, tried and failed to give up (or gave up and put on another 40+ lbs so restarted) Anyway..before I went for my banding they advised for me to cut down(I was on 15-20 a day) and I found it impossible.I was on 2 week pre-op liquids and found giving up 1 addiction ie. food was hard enough, and didnt do very well cutting smoking down. I had to stay in hospital overnight for banding,so there was no way I could smoke.I was really worried how I would cope, but the night before my banding 1st March,I put on a patch. I havent smoked since, and dont ever want to smoke again! The banding will give me a new lease of life in more than one way now....I will lose the lbs and I am also free of smoking too!! I thought I want to reap the benefits of feeling healthy, and I am suprised how easy its going! I have also lost my need for caffine too as I dont want tea of coffee either.
  9. I dont think it is a selfish thing to do.My son is 12 and he has had a mom that was too tired to do anything! I would love to go bike riding, swimming and do fun things he wanted to-but my weight was always stopping me! I had no energy, and he was missing out. I had my band done 1st March, and in the process of pre-op diet and after band,I am nearly 2 stones lighter and already I have get up and go! I just want to be more and more active now. I think it is a personal decision, and will be the best one you can make! Good luck.

  24. Hi there,Im being banded in 7 days time.My pre-op arms are 17 inches. Will keep you updated on any shrinkage!
  25. I have been sticking to my pre-op diet of 3 pints of semi-skimmed milk,2 low fat yoghurts and 1 stock cube a day! Im on day 4,have 7 more days to go.Day 2 was the worst so far, headaches from hell. I am so worried of doing something that would prevent my banding to go ahead, that Im sticking to it 100%!!
