    Hospital stay after surgery....

I had surgery on a Wednesday at 10am. I didn't have any pain meds or anything during surgery so they pumped me full of them at the end. Took about 18 hours for me to come out of anesthesia. Got a really good nap in :-) I would have gone home Friday, but I had a UTI, so I got iv antibiotics, and was cleared to go home Saturday. I would ask your surgeon what the average time is, and then prepare for an extra day or two for anything unseen happening. Good luck!
  2. I've been on my puréed diet for 1 week. The 2 weeks of liquids went well. The first couple days of puréed went well. A couple days ago I got a cold (or allergies or something) and now the only thing I can keep down is sugar free Powerade and Water. The sight and smell of food makes me nauseous. If I take 1 bite of anything I get extremely sick and it's very hard to keep it down. I talked to my surgeon day 1 of my cold and he told me what I could take for it and what I couldn't. Claritin dissolve tabs are good, robitussin makes me sick. Has anyone else had any issues like this? Do they pass? Do I need to go to ER for fluids?

    Stomach Binder

I had issues with my lungs after surgery. I had little pockets of mucus so I had some bad coughs. My doc heard me and prescribed a binder. That was a life saver. It hurt so bad to cough I tried not to, which is bad. With the binder I could cough, and even get out of bed without help those first few days. I would say try it and see if it helps you. You don't have to wear it if it doesn't.
