    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Well, I was banded yesterday and everything went fine. I am in a fair amount of pain, even the hydrocodone rx is not keeping it completely at bay. The shoulder pain is horrible, but I only have it when I'm sitting or standing. When I'm lying down it goes completely away. I've had nausea pretty much since surgery yesterday, doc said I could take phenergan which I already have at home, so that's working. I'm getting my protein by mixing the unflavored Unjury with crystal light, which is not half bad. Other than that I'm just nursing a glass of water all day and night, sucking down SF jello and SF popsicles when I feel like I need some flavor in my mouth. Glad to hear all my fellow 3/26ers are doing well too, and good luck to those who are still waiting for surgery in these last few days of the month. Meds are kicking in, gonna go lie down now.

I have ordered from them for years. I can only speak to the Wonder Slim Protein shakes and bars, but I can honestly say they taste wonderful! My most successful attempts at weight loss in the past have been using these products as part of a modified fast (drink shakes for Breakfast & lunch, one lean/green meal at night). I have literally survived on these shakes and bars for months on end (several times), which I could never have done if they tasted nasty. I actually just got a new order in the other day to get ready for my full liquid stage post-op (being banded on Wednesday). My favorite flavors in the shakes are chocolate & mocha, but I also like the chocolate mint pretty well. The vanilla and the strawberry are great too, I just don't reach for those flavors as often because they're not my favorites. The Protein Bars are excellent too, my favorites right now are the oatmeal cinnamon raisin, chocolate chip cookie dough, double chocolate, and chocolate mint. They really do taste like candy bars! I have actually used them as a "treat" before instead of a candy bar and they are quite satisfying to the sweet tooth. I'm not going to list all the nutritional facts here, because you can see them on their website, but they are high protein, low fat, low calorie, good choices. And no, I'm not affiliated with them at all, just a happy customer! HTH!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Thanks, Carol- it helps to hear people talk about it like it's no big deal. Realistically, I know it's not; people are put under general anesthesia every day, but not ever having done it myself, it's still a little scary to give up control like that. My pre-op diet is actually going great- I'm drinking Protein shakes to replace two meals a day and then having a lean/green meal for dinner. Today, however, is my birthday, and I can't say I won't miss the big dinner we would normally eat out tonight and the nice red wine I would normally drink, not to mention the birthday cake that I'll be skipping this year! We are still going out to eat, but I'll just have a chicken breast and steamed vegetables, I suppose. But it's okay, because I know it's going to be worth it. Have you started a pre-op diet? One thing I dread is the magnesium citrate I have to drink the day before surgery. Does anyone know how long that stuff takes to do its thing? Like, after how many hours can I expect the 'effects' to be over? They told me to drink it between 1-2 pm the day before, but I pick up my son from school at 2, so I think I'll wait until after then to drink it so I can be home for the duration. Then we are leaving that night for Memphis (about an hour drive) since I have to be at the hospital at 5:00am the next day. So the whole mag citrate business needs to be over with before I get in the car, if you know what I mean! Good luck on your pre-op tests tomorrow Carol!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi Shamrocks! Just a quick post to introduce myself. I was just given a surgery date yesterday and it's all happening next Wednesday, 3/26. I am so excited and nervous at the same time! I've never been sedated, so I'm a little apprehensive about that- I just feel like as long as I wake up, the rest will be a piece of cake. I've had two c-sections and recovered quickly from them, so I don't think this will be so bad. I'm just nervous about letting them knock me out. I'm going to ask for 'something to take the edge off' beforehand and maybe then I won't care that they're knocking me out. I tend to be more of a lurker on message boards, so you may not hear from me on a regular basis, but I've been here, reading post after post after post since about the end of January. I will try to share my experiences and say hello every now and then, though. It has been great to hear what everyone else is going through; I really appreciate the detail some of you are sharing with the rest of us! It really helps when you're still on the "unbanded" side of this whole affair. Good luck to everyone still waiting for surgery, and happy healing to those already on the other side!
