  1. Yep! Me too...I recommend the blood tests too...I just had mine taken on Friday, waiting for results. Hopefully something not to serious is found so I can get some energy back!!
  2. I should've added that I have been sticking to 1200 calories per day as suggested by my lapband doc. Thanks for ur input
  3. Hiya, so it's been a while since I've been on again. I had my fill reduced to 5.5ml (can basically eat anything) in January, due to having severe reflux etc and I don't go back until June 16. In the last few months, I've written down EVERYTHING i've been eating (Snacks and all) and exercising...but to no avail...I think I've lost maybe 1kg if that....sooo...I had my details printed out and sent to me from my lapband doc and took them to my gp, along with my food diary and to cut a long story short, he's given me 2 scripts for duromine, I'm getting bloodtests done (to check thyroid and for diabetes etc) to be thorough...he also gave me a referall to a dietician and a referral to see a psychologist re: depression about LACK of weightloss. So my question is...has anyone else used Duromine whilst they've had the band in? Did it work for you or did you think it was a waste of time?I'm hoping it will give my metabolism the kick start it needs to get back on the weightloss wagon...especially when I get my band filled back up again when I go back in June. I'm really hoping all of the above will help me out...I haven't stopped trying to lose weight seriously since 7 May 2009 when I had the band put in (yes it's almost exactly 2 yrs!)....or for that matter, my entire life! So *fingers crossed* all of the above help! oh. ps. Has anyone else hit their 2yr mark and can't get past a plateau?? I feel like I'm the only one this has ever happened too (although I know I'm not!)..would be good to know how you got past it and if you continued to lose weight?
  4. PS! Jachut is always full of wise words regarding the lap band and I definately use her for inspirtation. She said this is another post discussion and thought I'd share with you guys (once you've read it - feel free to throw me some ideas on high Protein foods/snacks!!): Jachut, on 22 February 2011 - 02:22 PM, said: I just said to myself - 3 small meals a day NO Snacks. Not ever. Its worked. You can blame winter, you can think certain "diets" such as Protein shakes will do the job, you can come at it from any angle and basically what it boils down to is that you have to just eat small and sensible and exercise every day. Its really simple, hard to do, but really simple. You can do it ladies - consistency over the long haul is always going to show results more so than desperate measures. The trick is not panicking. So, you slipped up, you're only human but you CAN get back on the wagon. My response: To be honest with you, this IS the hardest part for me!! Trying to stick to 3 small meals a day when I'm hungry all day!! (Even though I do realise that some of this is "head hunger".) I think I am at a good level with my fill atm as I can only eat a small portion of food, but it doesn't stop me getting hungry 1hr,2hrs later. I really do need to work at this. Can I ask what sort of protein foods you eat during the day? And if you ever do snack, do you snack on protein and if so, what?? Ps, your sooo right about the panicking part. I do panic about it!

  6. Rsilversea - your right about getting back on here, I find I always come back when I'm in need of some motivation and guidance if not to just feel "normal" and that I'm not the only one struggling with this Thanks! True. I also blame the fact that when I was unfilled and "on holiday" I ate "regular foods" such as a sandwhich (bread), Pasta and potatos all of which I cant eat when my band is filled. I'm feeling for you with u'r 3yr plateau...it's soo hard!! Lets hope we can both break out of it soon!! Mimilou2004 - Thanks, you too Amazing how your story sounds a lot similar to mine, makes me feel much better so thankyou! Update: Well I stood on the scales this morning and after working my arse off at the gym for weeks now, still no weight loss, in fact I was up a kg...BUT I'm trying to think positively - It has to be doing something, at least making my insides healthier right??...so I'm gonna keep going and hopefully eventually I'll see some results soon
  7. Sooo...I posted this in response to someone else's post but thought I'd share on my own and hopefully find that I'm not the only one who is currently struggling, depressed and exhausted at this whole lap band thing! I would have been banded for 2yrs this coming May and I haven't lost any decent weight since the first year. I lost over 32 kgs, then went on holiday + oesophigits and had an unfill which resulted in my gaining 11kgs back so now I'm just 20-21 kgs down from my pre-band weight which is soooooo depressing. I've been counting my calories for the last 2 months (started at 1500cal per day) but due to still having reflux at night, at my last appointment 3 weeks ago he unfilled me some more so im currently at 5.5ml in a 10ml band. Since my appointment I've been counting my calories daily (now down to 1200cal per day) and I've started back at the gym doing 1hr Mon,Wed,Fri and 1hr walk Tue,Thurs and guess what....still no weight loss!!! I'm extremely depressed about it, and embarrased! In my "ideal world" I would have already been at my goal weight by now. I can't believe I had weight loss surgery and I'm still not losing I'm just really really hoping that if I keep up with the exercise it will start to drop again...all I want is another 20kgs down by the end of this year and then I would consider myself a success. After all said and done, I do know that without having made the decision to have the band put in, I would never have been able to lose that 20kgs myself and keep it off, so I am thankful for that, but I just want more... Anyone else feel the same??? How did you kick start your weight loss again?? Did this happen to you? (Lose, gain then lose again for good). I need some motivation, inspiration, advice...anything!! Thanks in advance!!

  9. Excellent. Sounds awesome. I'm definately keen
  10. I always gain around 3-5kgs the week of my period!! it is fluid retention.
  11. Thanks for that I've been putting it down to extra fluid but just wasn't sure if it was normal for it to affect the band.
  12. Yep I was banded by Kevin on 7 May 2009. My recovery was quick and apart from the usual fill/unfill merry-go-round etc I haven't had any major problems.
  13. Hiya I was banded 7 May 2009 by Kevin Dolan in Joondalup. I still go there for my checkups, but would love to have a regular catch up for coffee with some other local bandsters (I live in Warnbro). Anyone keen??
  14. Am I the only one who has a considerable difference in band tightness during a period??
  15. Hiya, I made a thread a couple of weeks ago about how I've recently started having reflux during the night and/or first thing in the morning (it's like I forget to swallow or something and then all of a sudden I get woken with an acidy vomit taste in my throat). I only had it a couple of nights in a row and decided it must've been due to eating food to close to bed time as it dissapeared for a good week or so. However, it happened again last night. I don't PB often...probably about once a month...if that, and only if I've eaten too fast, and usually its on something that I know doesn't go down (steak or bread) well at the best of times. I don't vomit and apart from this reflux happening, I feel as though I am at a good point with my band as I still get full on smaller amounts but am able to eat what I need to. If anything I would think that perhaps I need a little more in as I'm still hungry pretty much all the time, its just that I get full faster and off smaller amounts (which to me was the main purpose of the band - so I'm happy with that). So my question is....does anyone have problems with reflux and yet they KNOW its not due to their band? Do you take anything to help with it?? NB: I recently had an abdominal ultrasound done and the tech asked me if I've been having reflux to which I answered yes - however I haven't heard anything back from my doc so I'm assuming it's not band related. Any ideas???Suggestions??? THANKS in advance!!

  17. Yep I can feel it too sometimes. Like when I'm stuck and all of a sudden I feel it go down and I feel better again.
  18. Thanks guys, I made sure I didn't eat anything too close to bedtime last night and tried drinking more water during the day..and I had no problems. It isn't a regular occurrence so I'm thinking that may be the problem. Will definitely be keeping an eye on the times/nights/days etc that it happens and if I get too concerned, I will be making an appointment to be checked out. Thanks again!
  19. Hiya, just wondering if anyone else has experienced or have been experiencing reflux since being banded. I've only recently started having it during the night (usually first thing in the morning - it's what wakes me up!) but once I'm up, I'm fine again. I don't think my band is too tight, I haven't had a fill in about 2 months. I have been trying to think of what may be causing it and am thinking that it could perhaps be because I haven't been drinking enough Water?? Has anyone else had any problems with this and how do you stop it?
  20. YES!!! It was my 1 year bandiversary on the 7th May 2010 and I have been absolutely struggling with losing weight for the last couple of months. One week I will lose 1-2kgs, the next week they are back on again. I go to the gym 3 times a week, I walk my son from school 2 days a week, I've been trying to be careful with what I'm eating and yet I'm still struggling. It's hard to not become discouraged by it and I'm petrified that I'm going to get too much put in on Wednesday (when I have my next appointment) because of not losing enough weight. About 8 weeks ago I was upto 6ml (I have a 10ml band) but I was barely able to drink Water so he took .5 ml out. I was then able to eat some dinner but couldn't eat anything for Breakfast or lunch and at my appointment I had GAINED 1kg. So then he reduced it again back down to an even 5ml (which I am at now). It is extremely frustrating but at least I haven't gained weight this time so I'm trying to keep going....I'm sure one of these days my body will give me a break and eventually let me break this 3 month plateau !!
  21. I haven't had any of my fills done with flouro.
  22. I have been too tight twice since being banded. The first time I only lasted 3 days before I went back (I had lost 3kgs in that 3 days) because I couldnt even get liquids down. This last time I had .3ml put in last wednesday and was only able to drink liquids - very very slowly for a WEEK! I was having reflux at night and would bring up anything "solid" i tried to eat. I went back yesterday (so 7 days) and had .5ml taken out. I can now eat small breaky, lunch and dinner with no problems. I feel sooo much better. Go and get some out!! :bored:
