  1. By the time you see this, your surgery will be over and you will be on a path to a better, happier, healthier way of life. Being nervous is normal, but focus on being excited and ready. It won't always be easy-but it WILL BE OK and well worth it! Praying for you and all taking this life changing journey. At age 63 I'm 3 months post op, 50lbs lighter and thankful I made this decision. Keep us posted on progress ????

  2. Hi, I was sleeved on 6/30. I just went for my post op visit today and only got my 'ok' for yogurt, pudding, milk and Protein shakes today.

I think you added things too soon-clear liquids and Jello for a whole week is the norm. I did get the 'ok' however to do this: I tried the unflavored Protein Powder in MIO-yuck???? so I tried it in broth(broth can't be too hot and you do have to really stir it in to mix), and It's pretty tolerable! 1/2 pk or 1/2 scoop(10g Protein ) in 8oz broth. Four times a day I had 4oz. See if that helps w energy and hunger. Gradually add the shakes and yogurt back into your diet. Good luck!

  3. Or in this case, it floats up to my window! It's the smoke and smells from our annual block party. Grills are lit left and right. Funny, it smells pretty good-but it doesn't bother me or make me feel hungry. I was sleeved on 6/30. Came home Friday. I have to admit, at 63, I had some concerns but really it was no ways near as 'bad' as I thought. It felt good to hear the nurses say they wished they had an entire floor full of patients like me.

I feel like the biggest hurdles are behind me( say that now, wait till I get to food that's not pureed!).

    Let's keep encouraging each other!

  4. Hi, actually I'm doing ok. I've walked down the hal twice(with walker) and am sitting in the chair for second time today. Pain is dull right now. Earlier it was there but I had to remind myself to use the pump. BTW the surgeon was going to remove my gall bladder if time allowed, but he didn't-instead he repaired a hernia that I didn't even know I had!!

    Thanks for your support????

  5. Have to be at hospital at 6 am. Basically I feel a little nervous but excited too. Want to start my new healthy life.

It's only been a few days since I joined the forum, and I must say the support and encouragement is awesome!

I'm blessed with friends who are supportive also. Just wish family was that way. Oh, I know it's because they worry or believe there ate other safer ways to lose weight-but it would help to have them fully 'in my corner'

  6. Sorry, slip of the finger. I have Cigna, but through Medicare. My process took about 3 months(classes, appts with surgeon, cardiologist, a psychiatrist, lung specialist and sleep test). Of course it depends on individual, surgeon and how fast claims are processed. I did a lot of research on my own also. I'm sure you will be able to get it all done before the end of year.
