That's why my shake has all my Vitamins (: I can have anything liquid, though. Stage 2 diet, basically.

I've been drinking Vega One. It tastes terrible, but I feel like a million bucks after one, plus 6 servings of greens, and most of the Vitamins and minerals for the day. It tastes so much better with some sugar-free Torani. I usually do shakes in the morning, it's the rest of the day that'll be difficult. Plus we're building a retaining wall today...eep!

@@Jay Mack RNY is the bypass. @@bellalulu you don't have to quote each person, but sometimes it is helpful when posting on a larger thread to figure out to whom you are responding.

Ditto on that. Poor guy, I feel for both of them (my husband included). Also, just to be sure, you guys are getting the sleeve right? It's posted in bypass but said sleeve...

I have a feeling I will be quite unpleasant this week. I've a touch of hypoglycemia, and tend to get rather cranky when I'm hungry. So not looking forward to it.

I say "I'm sorry, did YOU have the surgery? Oh, no? Then how the hell would you know? " but I'm known for being a rather blunt person...

No, mine is covered 100%. But again, it's through the hospital on base. Side note- plastics is also offered for a copay 18 months after the surgery.

I had the Mirena on for 3 months and in that time I gained 40 lbs and never took it off. I also had terrible cystic acne along my jawline. The Mirena was horrible for me. In fact, up until I had the Mirena placed I had been losing weight at a fairly constant rate. Suffice it to say I had it taken out and the weight gain stopped, the acne cleared up, and I began to normalize. I also happen to be sensitive to estrogen, so that could be part of my issue.

I have TriWest, I'm in California. All I did was meet with my PCP and let her know my failed attempts and asked for a referral. I had zero issues and did not have to prove anything. I am going through the surgery center on base, but the docs seem extremely competent.

Did you have to show proof of monthly weigh ins with your pcp?I have tricare prime and had surgery 2 mths ago. However, I had mine at MTF so my program covered everything. Only thing not offered there was psych eval and Tricare prime covered that with no hesitation. Since I did it at mtf, I did not have to wait 3-6 mths that Tricare make some wait. My Dr. referred me for sleeve and I was sleeved 2 mths later. I had no complications what-so-ever and was referred with 35 bmi.

Thank you (: that's why I've been working with my counselor for over a year. The issues are settled, and I'm just ready to get started. Thank you for the recommendation; I'll get to reading it!

I'm new here! I have been considering vsg for about a year now. My husband is active duty military, so I'll be going through the local MTF. I'm a full time student, so I'm hoping to have the surgery in August, so I'm fully adjusted when I go back for my senior year.
I've worked with my counselor for over a year on several failed diets and the resulting depression. Over the last year I've gained over 50 lbs :-/ I've taken a nutrition class through my college, and browsed this forum for a few months.
This site has been super informative and I can't wait to start the journey. My appointment with my PCP is Wednesday and I'm hoping for a quick referral to the bariatric unit in the hospital. If anybody has any advice I would really appreciate it!

Lean Protein is great- just stay away from fatty foods for a bit, it'll take your system quite a while before it can handle those.
