Extended hospital stay considerations

I use relpax, it is a prescription rescue medication There is also Imitrex, maxalt and Botox for chronic migraine. If your migraines are that bad your dr can put you on a daily preventative medication- I actually take 2 preventatives topamax and verapamil because mine are so bad. My dr said no to any NSAIDs as they could cause ulcers with the sleeve. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

No offense meant but, true friends will stick by you thru thick and thin whether they agree or not. Know that this journey is not easy, you are going to need people by you who will support you, if she is your friend you need to tell her you are doing this for you and if she cant be positive she needs to keep negativity to herself. I've not had had issues due to this surgery, but I have had 5 iron infusions in the past year. Had no side effects other than bad taste in my mouthing the beginning. They monitor you closely to make sure you have no reaction for about 1-2 hours after the infusion. For your levels to be dropping like that it would seem to me that you are losing blood somewhere. Have you noticed any dark colored, tarry colored or coffee ground like stools?

My pain was all on right side as well. Dr told me it was normal and not to be worried. Definitely worse if I was bending down. It went away after 2-3 weeks. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Winded more easily after anesthesia?
Daja replied to MissJDVSG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Any shortness of breath after a surgery shouldn't be ignored and you should call your surgeon. While anesthesia can stay in your system after surgery even up to a week (depending on the type used), you don't want to play around this kind of an issue. Also make sure you are using your incentive spirometer (they should have given you one at the hospital). This will help to prevent pneumonia Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

What Bariatric Vitamins Do I Need?
Daja replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Unfortunately my surgeon said absolutely no Flintstones or gummies so I am choking down other chewables. They taste horrible; I've tried 3 different brands so far... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
If I read your post correctly, it looks like you are looking for a diet until you get to the liver shrinking phase. When I was at that stage my nutritionist suggested a high Protein, low carb diet rich in vegetables. Start weaning yourself off fast food(if that is an issue for you) and soda-even diet. It really doesn't have much nutritional value. Also I was told to read labels and stick to correct portion sizes. I hope this helps. Best wishes on your journey. What is wrong with literal overly sensitive assholes?
Daja replied to xoxococojay's topic in Rants & Raves
Not harsh at all, very informative. They obviously were overly sensitive Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
This is a forever thing. If you have questions about this you should speak with your dr or nutritionist. My surgeon ( and I'm only speaking for me) said it is ok to drink up to your meal, however absolutely not during or 30 minutes after. His reasons: as others have said it will push soft food through but more importantly, if you have a Protein dense food like chicken, the Water will sit on top of it, instead of pushing it down it will soak into the protein dense food and cause the upper part of the sleeve, which can stretch, to "outpouch". If this happens enough the outpouching will become permanent and you will be able to eat more food. This, of course, is the opposite of what we want. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, I was sleeved on December 30th and I've been doing fine. Meeting all my Fluid goals, walking, no real pain to speak of. But yesterday I started to get a pain in my upper right quadrant of my abdomen where I do not have an incision. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting a little nervous about it now. Thanks Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I also was sleeved on December 30th. My dr came in after the surgery and acknowledged I would have feelings of "oh my gosh-what did I do to myself?" He said don't worry they will pass. He was right. Remember you did this for yourself. I had 7 co-morbidities. Every time I wonder if I made the right decision I think of those co-morbidities and know that I have. Leave the room if their food makes you nauseated. Right now you have to put yourself first. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
