  1. Congrats! Today is my one year bandiversary as well and I'm 75 lbs down and feeling great! I hope to be OVER 100 lbd down by my husbands 30th Bday (which is Aug 3). And I agree with all the advice you've given! I allow myself to eat chocolate and goodies if I want to- the difference now is I eat a couple bites instead of a couple slices/pieces/servings! I just got into my green zone last month (I think I'm up to 8 cc in an 11 cc band) and I've had a few plateaus here and there but my doc is still pleased with my progress! Before I got my surgery my doc told me he was very confident in my ability to lose weight with the band bc I already knew what to do and I was motivated to exercise (granted that was harder to get into than I wanted) and I didn't wan to let him down! Im so glad that I haven't!
  2. Congrats! Getting to the halfway point always makes your goals feel so much more attainable!
  3. I'm 5'5" started out at 295 squeezing into a 28 pant. Currently, I'm at 220 and a size 20 in some pants! I think technically a size 21 (yay for being in between sizes! Not!) right now. When I weighed 180 I was a size 16 and hoping I will be again! My goal is 160 lbs so we'll see how it goes!
  4. Hey May bandsters! I had my surgery May 4th last year and I'm 75 lbs down! Its going to be a long road and it won't always go as smoothly as you want it too! Just stay focused and positive and you will achieve! I can't stress enough on focusing on chewing and portion sizes, especially once you start getting fills and EXERCISE!!! Every little bit helps! Just keep that in mind! Good luck and feel free to ask me any questions or check out my blog for all my experiences!
  5. I was fairly shy when I met my husband 7 years ago, but since we have been married (and since shortly after we started dating) I was never afraid tell him/do to him what I wanted no matter how dirty it was! I really think it just has to do with how comfortable the woman is around the people she is with. If we just talked dirty all the time to whomever, we would give the appearance that we were easy or slutty. If I'm around my friends on the other hand, I'll tell them every naughty detail!
  6. Hello everyone! I've finally gotten off my ass and started my new NerdFitness-based workout routine! I've only worked out twice so far but I'm feeling good! I've decided to suck it up and start working out before work and I'm really enjoying it! I'm hoping to stick to this routine MWF every week! Here is what I'm doing: Walking intervals 15 mins Planks 30 seconds (right now it's only 15!) Bench press 10 lbs 10 reps Squats 10 reps Overhead press 10lbs 10 reps Deadllift 6 lb bar 10 reps (still practicing my form before I do real weight on this) Repeat 3-4 times (right now I can only do 2 sets!) I'm doing my measurements tomorrow and I will try to keep everyone updated as time goes on!
  7. I started out at 295. I had my surgery last May! One month out I think I was 15-20 lb out. 6 months out I was around 40 lbs down. Today (10 months out) I am 63 lbs down I did a lot of lose 20 lbs then plateau until I got another fill , etc. I currently need another but I'm not going back til April!
  8. Just be on top! I had no issues with that and I think I had sex 2-3 days after my surgery.
  9. Yes you should put that business on HOLD! If you are TTC and you just got your surgery, most doctors suggest waiting at least 18-24 months before TTC. Some people just wait a year or so though. I want to at least reach 100 lbs lost OR my goal (130 lbs) before TTC. Losing weight can only HELP you conceive in the long run! You should probably consider some form of birth control before then because most people are very fertle after the surgery due to hormonal changes in your body due to fast weight loss. Good Luck!
  10. you can add me too! erinistehawesome
  11. Has anyone seen or visited nerdfitness.com? I found it last week and it's a great website! It's very inspiring and focuses on the Paleo diet (back to basics, all natural, organic meats, fruits, veggies, nuts, etc) and strength training! This guy is really motivating and inspiring! I highly suggest you check it out. I plan on looking into strength training today at my gym! I never really thought about doing it until I did some research and seems like the best way to lose weight and keep strong muscles! I'm hoping it will help tone up my flab before it gets too bad! I'll update everyone on what I find out at my gym!
  12. I would highly suggest you seek out any local WLS support groups as well! they are a great help even if not everyone has lap band! Good luck! And I hope your husband stays safe where ever he is going!
  13. You have every right to be upset because that wasn't your husband's secret to tell and he may need to be reminded that this is your decision, not his. I, however, have told everyone and anyone that asks! I haven't gotten any negative comments since my surgery. Some of my friends were against it when I was first talking seriously about getting it, but they have since moved to being supportive and happy for me. IF there ever was anyone that didn't agree with my decision and they voiced it, I would probably politely tell them to eff off and mind their own business. If someone doesn't like it, then they should be happy that they aren't the ones in that situation! Good luck!
  14. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work the following Monday! I have a sit down, office job as well.
  15. Just remember it's called bandster hell for a reason! The physical and mental hunger you feel WILL go away! It's a real struggle in the beginning, especially when family members don't always take your feelings in to account (my husband got mad at ME for guilt-tripping him for eating in front of me!) Just remember it will pass and you will eat again, even if it seems to take forever!
  16. My doctor chose the realize band for me because he likes the website better for patent interaction. I would agree! I also like the lower profile port
  17. Every WLS requires will power, honey! If you don't have/learn the willpower needed to not overeat, you will suffer (literally) the consiquences. Getting stuck is the band's way of saying "DONT DO THAT!" If you don't learn, you will undoubtly and/or eventually hurt yourself or the band. So just keep that in mind! And please remember there will be times when you are MISERABLE. Bandster hell is real and it sucks! But once you're past it, it's totally worth it My willpower is not wanting to mess anything inside of me up! I don't want to have to have a revision, especially if it is something I could have prevented! Good luck!
  18. Prime is excellent! Don't worry! Just get a letter of necessity from your PCP and you shouldn't have any problems! I was approved in about 3-4 weeks with no issues and I had tricare RS
  19. What kind of tricare do you have? And with your BMI you should have no problems getting approved. As far as dieting, last year tricare didn't require 6 months of dieting beforehand. Of course, the policy could change since it's the new year! Good luck!
  20. Taken! Good luck on your dissertation!
  21. Poo makes a difference too! If you aren't regular then your weight WILL go back up before it goes down! This is a major issue with me! I will lose 5 lbs and then gain back 2-3 a day to 2 later, and then I have to up my water and fiber before I go back down to where I was! It can be frustrating but now I just don't weight myself if I haven't been regular in a while. TMI? Maybe. But so true.
  22. I have a friend looking into lap band surgery but she told me she had bulimia in the past (20+ years ago for 5 years). I asked if she thought that would be a problem after being banded and she said definitely no. What I'm wondering is, do you think the pysch eval will be affected by this information? Is there anyone out there with a history of an eating disorder who got approved? Do you think she should even mention it since it was so long ago? Thanks for any input! Erin
  23. A lot of women with PCOS have gotten the lap band specifically to lose weight and get pregnant! there is a smaller section on the website for pregnancy with the lapband and they talk about it a bit there! otherwise, you could also look on pregnancy and baby websites for other bansters with PCOS TTC! Congrats! and good luck!
  24. You cam trend me too! My name on there is erinistehawesome!
