  1. I'm sure she will be fine! She is very adaptable and gets along with everyone! She is also crazy smart and will undoubtedly pick up the language in no time! My husband and I hope to plan a trip out there before she leaves to go visit. The thought is a bit overwhelming because I know it will be expensive but I have never been to Germany (I went to France in high school) and would love to visit!

Also, I think that gentleman I told you about also had Prime...I would bet you won't have any problems with that! :)

  2. I call my Tricare lady quite a bit too! I called them twice in a row before they called me back and the nice woman gave me her direct line. I'm sure if I don't get an answer soon she will regret it, lol. She was very nice and apologetic and reassuring though. NOW I'm hoping they cover as much as they have for other people! There was a gentleman in a support group meeting I went to and he said he only had to pay $50 and that was because he had to stay an extra day in the hospital!

That would be AMAZING for me, lol. (Although, I am SO not that lucky...ever)

My friend literally just got to Germany last week. She said they got a place already but their stuff hasn't arrived yet! How long have you been over there? Do you like it?

  3. I'm waiting patiently to hear from Tricare too! I only have Tricare RS in the North region and they are not as fast as some others with Tricare have seemed to have had. They also said my file was misfiled somewhere else and that's why it took so long! I've already waited 2.5 weeks and HOPE to get an answer by the beginning of the work week! I'm hoping to get banded BEFORE April or a the very beginning. I was wanted to get banded before my bday, which is April 8. :)

I also have a friend who just moved over to Germany with the Army! She is in Stuttgart...where are you located?

    Good luck on your journey!

  4. It occurred to me that I'm a person who basically works on different motivators. So, I decided to share what my current goals and rewards are and to see what yours are. Maybe you have have a better motivator and reward system and I just didn't think of it. Let's share how you reward yourself for doing great on your journey. Can't wait to see what you say!!

I'll start, my husband I decided on the following rewards for the following goals:

    1. When I hit an additional 20 pounds (for a total loss of 53 pounds) - a night at Tropicana in Atlantic City

    2. When I hit 30 pounds (for a total loss of 63 pounds) - getting my hair done (the works!) and a nice date

    3. When I hit 40 pounds (for a total loss of 73 pounds) - a new outfit and a nice date

    4. When I hit 50 pounds (for a total loss of 83 pounds) - a trip to Florida

I have 11 more pounds until I hit goal number 1! Can't wait...

These are great ideas! I'll have to have my husband help me write up some of these for me for when I get my surgery!!

  5. Hello all!

These stories are very awesome to hear! I am in the process of getting lap band now (just had my psych eval, doc's office is turning it into ins next week!) and its partially to hopefully jump start my ovaries so my DH and I can get pg.

I haven't had a period in over a year and a half but I have no cysts on my ovaries! I don't know if I have PCOS or I have been told it could possibly be a type of endometriosis. I couldn't afford the exploratory surgery to check my ovaries up close so I decided now that I have insurance again I would just try to lose weight and see if that helped (losing weight in general is good for you anyway).

Anyway! I love hearing other people's success stories..makes me feel like I'm not alone :)

  6. I keep telling my husband I'll just get more flexible as I lose. He's worried he may not find me attractive if I 'get skinny' (a fear we both have)

I totally have this fear too! My husband doesn't seem as concerned but it worries me from time to time! The way I figure - you can always unfill or just work on maintenance if you get 'too skinny'! Another reason I love the lapband over the other options. I haven't gotten the surgery yet, but this has definitely been a fear of mine!

  7. Hello All,

My name is Erin and I'm 23 years old. I'm currently almost 300lbs and I'm 5'5" ... About 2 years ago I was 180 lbs (after losing about 50 lbs through diet and exersize) then I met my soon to be husband...got married... and gained all my weight back, plus more! I've been considering weight-loss sugery for a long time, but I never thought anyone would take me seriously, or they would look at me as if I hadn't tried.

I don't want to lie... I do not get to exersize but once a week anymore, nor do I eat as healthy as I used to. However, I am newly married, broke as a joke (healthy food is expensive!) and I was working 40 hours a week and going to school. Now, I have graduated from school and I just recently lost the best job I have ever had (and my insurance).

My husband and I are wanting to have a child soon, but I just can't see myself getting pregnant and gaining MORE weight than I am already carrying. It makes me a little sick just thinking about it! I also have very abnormal periods so I don't even know if I can have kids right now because of my weight! (Although, they were just as abnormal when I was down to 180lbs.)

    My Question:

I was wondering if anyone had any insite on how I could go about affording weight-loss surgery. I will probably try to get on my husband's Tri-Care (Military) insurance if I do not find a new job soon, but I am afraid they will not cover it because I may be overweight but I have no serious medical issues (so far) because of it. Or I would try for his current job's insurance (he's in the National Guard) but I do not want to take anymore money out of his paycheck then we already have to. We are also in the process of filing for bankruptcy ... so I can't do much about it just yet. But I want to get as much information as possible while I have the free time.

Thanks for any replies in advance!

    Erin
