    Any May 2011 Banders?

Exciting!! How long did it all take for you?
  4. OMG you poor dear! I can barely stand bleeding for a week let alone 7 months! I don't have periods but once a year (if that) unless i'm on the pill. I, too, am hoping the band will make my cycles normal so my hubby and I can conceive and be healthy too! Getting diagnosed with PCOS when trying to concieve is the WORST feeling ever! I totally feel for you. I feel broken a lot as well, but I am hoping the band will help cure it, or at least make it better. My biggest fear is losing all the weight and still not being able to get pregnant afterwards! good luck! Feel free to contact me if you need to chat! Don't forget to look around the boards ladies! There are topics on Pregnancy and the band and PCOS and the band if you go down far enough. Remember, you are not alone in these struggles!!!

    Any May 2011 Banders?

Hello all! i got my surgery date on Wednesday!!! May 4!!! I'm soooo excited it's finally happening! It took 2.5 weeks for my insurance approval and 3.5 weeks just to get a surgery date! I'm getting my band done at St. Vincent's Bariatic Center of Excellence in Carmel, IN by Dr. David Diaz! I go in for my nutrition class on 4/21 and my pre-op testing the next day (7:45 am...ick)!! I have to get the usual - blood work, EKG, PFT, chest x-ray, and an upper GI. I'm choosing to get these at my surgeon's hospital (45 mins away in Indy) instead of at my office (I work at a specialty clinic) for fear of them not getting me in as soon as I need and the possibility of them not getting the results in as soon as they need to be. Any thoughts on this decision? Reasonable? Or a waste of another day off work? I'm kind of torn about it because I don't want to miss any more work than I have to (no on else can do most of my work, so it just piles up) but I also don't want there to be any room for mistakes by letting someone else do it! Oi! Anyway!! I'm super stoked and can't wait to get banded!
  6. It's finally happening! Got my date today! May 4th!!! YAY

    Pregnant and Confused

I'm not as educated as most people here but I would think that even with the band being totally empty you will still have SOME type of restriction, even if its very small. The band is still there and around your stomach, ya know? It sounds like maybe you are just getting lap band stuck/stick when eating pork chops. I could be totally wrong though. Good luck!
  8. Here's hoping its just allergies! Good luck tomorrow!
  9. ps, my bday is on Friday and I would like a surgery date for my present!

    Waiting for Approlval

I know the process is crazy annoying but you just have to be persistent and stay with it! I know it will be well worth the wait!

post your before & during/after pictures

Great pics!!! You are right where I am and where I want to be! Makes me feel good! Do you do anything EXTRA good (eat certain things, strict diet, exercise forever) to get where you are now?
  12. I have RS too and I was told my surgery will be 20% after deductible and $25 max for the hospital stay. Sadly, its not as good as Prime, but it's pretty darn close! I am not far enough along to know about any other possible charges.
  13. Also, I'm not sure about docs in the Terre Haute area, but I would suggest a bariatric center of excellence just because they know more about the before and afters of surgery better and are more likely to offer support! I am going to St. Vincent's in Carmel but I live in Muncie so it's not terribly far for me. (About 45 minute drive)
  14. My doctor's office finally got my approval letter! They said I have to wait 2-3 weeks until I get my surgery date! (Yay but boo!)

  15. Still waiting patiently for my approval letter to find it's way to the doc's office (or my house! Whichever comes first!)

    Waiting for Approlval

Well I don't have any comorbidities but my BMI is around 46-48%. I don't know if it contributed but I also did WW for about 6 months at the beginning of last year. The only doctor visits I did were: 1. Consultation/First meet with surgeon 2. Psych Eval 3. Primary doc visit with letter of medical necessity/approval from doc stating lapband was a good idea 4. I also got a physical and a lady exam that next week with some general blood work since I hadn't been to the doctor in so long (about 2-3 years) After all that they submitted and 2 weeks after that I called to see what the holdup was (they said to wait 10 business days...and I did) and they said my file had been misfiled and it was a good thing that I called! That was a Wednesday and by Friday evening I was approved! I'm currently waiting for my doc's office to receive the approval letter from tricare (it was supposedly faxed but I haven't heard from the doc's office yet) if they don't receive it by next week, I will just fax them a copy of my approval letter ....if I ever get it! lol

    Waiting for Approlval

I have TriCare North RS and I was approved after 2.5 weeks! You did more testing than I did so I would think you wouldn't have any issues. What is your BMI and do you have any comorbs? After 2 weeks I started calling them and bugging them It really helps!

Me too! Well...I would prefer tomorrow, but early April works too
  19. Just wanted to say hey to a fellow Hoosier! enjoying the lovely weather today? (finally!)

  20. Thanks for the info! I need to start testing out protein drinks too!
  21. My BMI is 46 and I have no comorbities and I was approved with no issues (thankfully). I have Tricare RS. I made sure before I submitted to insurance that I got blood work, lady exam, and doctor recommendation before hand. Good luck!

One year out movie I made...

Haha yay! I definitely see a trend in people that have lost a considerable amount of weight in a year. It's always exercise and Protein, lol. I will definitely keep that in mind! I know my biggest problem will be Water and maybe exercise but my husband just got a membership at a gym and I will probably get on that as well. We just bought a car and my husband is going to school full time so I definitely understand being flat broke! So I guess when I get my surgery I will remember protein first, exercise, water! (Along with low carb and food journals!) Thanks for the advice!

One year out movie I made...

Of course! When you go to the area (like the fast reply area) to change your signature there is a button next to the smileys button that looks like a chain with green box on it (I can't see it very well on my netbook) and that is the link button! It's very simple from there! Just copy and paste the link and type in the title you want below that Now, can you tell ME how you lost so much weight in only a year??? How often did you exercise? How strict was your diet and food portions? Do you have a fast metabolism anyway? The newbie would love to know your techniques!
