I personally have always taken Bariatric Vitamins, I tried the chewables even Flintstones YUK YUK!!! I buy Celebrate Capsules for $15.00 for 90 capsules. I buy 4 at a time so I don't have to pay S/H. I was told that you can open them and add them to food if you can't swallow them. I was told from the beginning that I needed to take a Bariatric Vit. I know that Dr.'s don't always agree. But I figured I would rather be safe than sorry. Thats just me tho.

I am over 3 years post-op RNY gastric bypass surgery. Because of this type of surgery, I take many more Vitamins than a patient that has undergone sleeve surgery.
After surgery I found that I could no longer swallow large pills. This made taking Vitamins a difficult challenge. This condition lasted about 2 months and then I was able to swallow again.
Vitamins should not all be taken at once. They need to be spaced out throughout the day otherwise they are not absorbed properly. There should also be a time separation of at least 2 hours between Iron supplements (as found in multivitamins) and Calcium supplements. They should not be taken together. I do not swallow all my vitamins at once. I do not fill my mouth with 3 vitamins and then drink Water. I do these one at a time.
In my case because I have so many to take, I use the following approach. I place all my calciums in a small glass bowl each morning. These I take throughout the day a couple hours apart. All the other vitamins I divide into two weekly pill containers. One for the early morning and one for the late evening just before bedtime. Since these are weekly containers (14 small compartments), the fill covers a two week period for each container.

PatchMD is a life saver for me! Hate taking anything, the doctor told me to try them. I have been on them for a year now and my blood work is perfect.

Bariatric fusion has multi Vitamin stick packs that remind me of Crystal Light. You dissolve in Water.
    Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Have you tried the Patches from PatchMD?
I only take Calcium orally, and only because I am not sure calcium will absorb thru the skin like other do,

You can take a look at several "bariatric vitamins", e. g. Celebrate or FitForMe.
There are chewables and pills available and you don't need to take a whole heap of them. They are usually taken two times a day.

When I first looked into the gastric sleeve a few years back, I wasn't sure at the time if I was ready. I limited my thoughts with my sister and two of my closest friends.
We know who "our people" are and should only tell what we want to who we want...those we trust and feel comfortable with. What I learned this time around, as I'm unwavering about my decision, is that I will need the support from my family, close friends and select co-workers and clients who fall into my "circle of trust."
I've been fortunate that I've received nothing but positive support and excitement from everyone. They know how long I've struggled...and even a client shared her private lap band snafu and inquired about my surgeon for a consult herself.
After the procedure is done, it will be pretty obvious that I'm losing weight. Now...when asked? I can say that I've had had plastic surgery, dysentery or WLS lol...I'm going with WLS Should there be any haters? I will just shut them down gently with a smile...because negative energy is their choice. I've made mine!
Don't let a negative opinion take root...good luck moving forward!

Can it really be 5 days since I got sleeved? Well, I'm counting the days until I meet with the doctor and get cleared to eat pureed food. I must say that considering I am on liquids, I really am not hungry. I just want something to chew! Soreness is going away. No real pain. I never got my Rx filled as I decided to tough it out. Swallowing is still a chore. I certainly know when my sip is too big because my stomach retaliates. The easiest thing to go down are the sugar-free Luigi's ices since they just melt and slide down on their own. Hope everyone else is getting along well.

Was in the hospital gown the entire time, so nightgown/pjs not needed. Wouldn't let me shower, so shampoo/body wash etc, not needed. Didn't need baby spoons, they provided spoons, but believe me, you really won't want to eat. Water was my only friend. Biotene helped since I couldn't drink anything the day of surgery. Headphones/earbuds definitely helped since I had a snoring roommate. My hospital gave me a pillow with the sleeve procedure diagram on it - it was an autograph pillow, so my nurses and doctors signed it...lol.

I'm officially sleeved! I had my surgery on 7/19 and all seemed to have gone well. I wasn't in too much pain that first day, but the following day when they took away my Happy Button a/k/a morphine, some pain kicked in. I would walk a few laps from my room to the nurses station only to get a little nauseous and headed back to my room. Could not sleep well at night since I had a 97-year old roommate with a hip fracture and alzheimer's that snored ALL night. The clear diet they gave in the hospital was not working, so I just drank the Water. I came home yesterday and am trying my best to get the liquids down. Does anyone else hear a gurgling in their throats as the liquids settle in the stomach?

Yes, it almost feels like when I take a sip it sits at the top of a funnel and then five seconds later I feel it go through to stomach with funny noises. I wonder if that has to do with the hiatal hernia I had repaired. It doesn't hurt but is definitely uncomfortable

Day 6 post op (sleeved 7 11) I'm feeling pretty good. I have actually been cooking for my family and I'm still not hungry. My big incision is still very painful when I over do it. Doing a lot of walking. Which help with the gas pain and stiffness. I can't believe I'm not hungry! But I'm glad I'm not!

Just got home from being sleeved on July 15th. The day after is painful and you will be uncomfortable. It is very hard at first to put anything in your mouth. Day two you should start sipping as much as you can and walk to help with the gas pain. Don't fool yourself...this is a major surgery and you'll feel it. Just keep your sights on the goal and you'll be fine. The only thing I remember the day of is kissing family members an being rolled into the OR. I didn't even know they had already given me the meds to put me out. The next thing I know was waking up in recovery groggy and not knowing where I was. Soon after that I was reunited with family and told it was a four hour procedure and I was going to be very sore. Just trying to find a liquid I can actually tolerate. Best of luck to those going soon and know that everything gets better each day.

I just wanted to wish everyone who are having the sleeve done GOOD LUCK. I just had my on the 15th and I already know that this is one of the best decision that I have made for myself. Let me be quite honest the first day after surgery is a rough one, but by the 2nd day it gets better, and by the 3rd well your headed home. Just remember why you choose to do this, to begin with that helped me a lot . Any questions I'm here and will share what I have been through thus far .
