  1. I was in a lot of pain under one of my incisions at that point. So much so that I was in tears the night before I went back to work because I didn't know how I was going to do it.

Honestly in retrospect I wonder if I was babying it too much because within a day or two I was so much better. By day three - no pain at all - and I have a super active job.

So in my case - I think that actually moving helped to speed along the healing.

That said - it's always a good idea - especially that soon after surgery - to give the office a call and see what they say.

  2. Ok. If you continue bleeding I would def ask him about a sonogram. The pressing down and not feeling anything doesn't particularly impress me -

Glad he is doing lab work though.

Are you feeling more at ease since you saw him?

Just please continue to advocate for yourself - remember - no one knows your body better than you do.

I'll keep you in my thoughts

  3. Go see your gyn.

I can relate - after surgery my periods went crazy - every two weeks and heavy. Then I started bleeding in November and didn't stop.

Turns out that my hormones had caused my fibroids and polyps (preexisting) to grow and they were irritating my uterus causing the excessive bleeding.

1 quick surgical procedure to clean it all out January 11 and I'm good to go.

Threw in an endometrial ablation on top of it and hopefully I won't have to deal with the periods anymore.

    Good luck to you -

  4. Good Morning everyone!

184.8 this morning - down from 185.8 last week with a goal of 163

The thing that I have been struggling with - since the holidays - is the realization that I still want to eat the things that made me obese in the first place and that - since I refuse to make others responsible for my choices - I'm still going to be surrounded by the foods I love in large quantities.

So even though my sleeve is a wonderful tool - the majority of the work still needs to be done between my ears.

So right now I am focusing on knowing my plan ahead of time - that way I'm not making decisions about food on the fly

And focusing on a. Getting to the gym and b. Making my workouts meaningful

I am having surgery tomorrow for some non sleeve related uterine issues. And I am really nervous - I don't really know why I'm so anxious but I am.

I was originally supposed to have my 4 month weigh in on Thursday but I was advised to change it because of the possibility of Fluid retention.

Anyhow. I hope everyone has a great week - be kind to yourselves.

  5. Ok. Started today at 185.8.

Even though I'm relatively new to this life - I am struggling to keep my head in the game -

The mental aspects of dealing with socializing and food are kicking my ass.

I'm stocking up today on my staples...

    Crab cakes (4carbs, 13 protein)

    Meatballs (4.8 carbs, 12 protein)

Premier Protein (one a day with my morning decaf)

And string cheese (1carb, 7 protein)

That is my usual base then I plan meals to fill out my dinners.

I know tonight is sausage and peppers. (Mr Mean One had them out defrosting when I woke up)

My husband is planning to go low carb so that should help

But I think that I was foolish to think that I could do this without therapy so I think I seriously need to look into that.

  6. Hi. I had my surgery 2 weeks before the start of school this year - I'm a pre k teacher in the Bronx. Besides needing help to set up my classroom I was fine.

I imagine at this point of the year you know your kids pretty well and know whether you need to be concerned about anyone acting out.

Otherwise, assuming you have a 'normal' surgery with no complications I think you should be fine.

  7. I know this is a mid week weigh-in....and I've already weighed in this week....

And I've learned not to question anything my body decides to do anymore - cause it's def calling the shots.

But I just got on the scale and weighed in at 185.8.

Not only below my challenge goal but the most I've lost in any time period since surgery.

    WTF and whoooop!

And I fit comfortably in the rides at Hersheypark yesterday (seriously who does Hersheypark in 30 degree weather - I'm still frozen)

    So.....that's all....

    Have a great Thursday everyone!

  8. I haven't changed my goals at all and I am keeping myself in check.

But I definitely have a plan every time I know I'm going to be in a position where there is going to be food.

For my potlucks I am bringing amazing - but Bariatric friendly - dishes so I know I have something to eat. Otherwise I am the cook for holiday meals so it's easy enough to plan.

For parties I've been asking about the menu ahead of time "so I can bring the right wine"

Today was my birthday and I planned to have a tiny (1 inch) piece of tiramisu. That was the plan - I stuck to it - and the leftovers went in the garbage as soon as the company left.

I feel satisfied - both with my treat and with how I handled it.
