    Plan, Prepare, and Persevere!
    Plan - Know everything that you're going to eat today before Breakfast is over. Write it down. Use an App like myfitnesspal and put the stuff in BEFORE you eat it, not after.
    Prepare - Shop like youre going to war, because making good choices everyday as someone with a food addiction IS a battle. Identify where youre weak and make plans to help you win that battle. Bad decisions are usually the result of not having good decisions among your options. Stash shakes and bars (and cottage cheese/greek yogurt, cheese sticks, whatever you love) in the places where you suffer temptation and commonly fail. At work, in your car, by your PC at home, or near the TV. You can win these wars if you're prepared. Corollary: Dont allow bad decisions to be in your house! You dont have to allow Cookies or chips to exist in your space.
    Persevere - you're going to put the wrong things in your mouth from time to time. Don't beat yourself up, but dont let it continue! Fail Forward Fast. Dont wallow and self medicate with bad calories. Do the next right thing, and the next one after that. Forgive yourself and refocus daily. It helps if you have the reasons you chose to have the surgery written down and displayed somewhere (like on the fridge).
    Head hunger will talk to you, when it does, talk back. "Hello, old foe. So we meet again. You want me to believe that I need food now? I just talked to Stomach and he says I just ate 40 min ago and there's no way I've digested even half of that chicken. So I'm going to listen to him and just have something to drink. Better luck next time!"
    When all else fails, get back to basics. Protein first, eat slow, separate eating and drinking, and dont skip your supplements (getting too low on Vit D or B12 makes me feel like CRAP)!

    @kimberb
    The moisture content of food really matters. if it has a lot of sauce and a thin crust, it is basically a puree once you chew and pretty easy to eat a whole pizza.
    Not to mention anyone can eat a whole pizza with enough time.
    It is really a lot easier than people think.

    I seriously just wrote a post almost identical to this a couple weeks ago. I also had no restriction from the carbs and just kept eating like it was nothing. Lesson was learned and I've moved on.

    Carbs do NOT fill up the tummy like Protein and you can just eat, and eat, and eat with little problem. In the end, I realize I have to make better choices and plan my meals every single minute to avoid overeating. I'm also 3.5 months out and thought my restriction would help more but it didn't. I thought I was over the binging but I guess I may struggle with that forever. Just don't get too discouraged. I moved on from the day and I've lost 9 lbs since then. Just do better each day, that's all we can do! Good luck to you!

    You are not a lone. Whether you ate a whole pizza, or someone else ate a whole piece of cake, two glasses of wine - a lot of us come from a background of overeating and binging, followed by shame. It's okay that you are a work of progress - you are in a transition period. You are trying to change who you are as a person - which is NOT easy. The small size of our stomachs make it a little easier to change, kind of forces us to eat less and less. I'm about a month out and finally getting out of a Huge depression state. I used to find joy and solace in eating. But at the end of the day, it's your mind that makes the decision to eat. If you decide to pick something up and swallow, your stomach doesn't really have a choice. Think about your goals. Make a dream board on Pinterest of healthy bodies, motivational phrases, vsg recipes, at home exercises. Remind yourself of what you want - what you were willing to deal with the insurance company for, the hospital stay for, the possible family and friends that didn't understand your decision. You did it for YOU.

    As a side note, a psychologist has really helped me. You can fix a fridge or a car, but you cannot fix a person - a person has to want to fix them self. Stay strong!

    You don't need us to tell you that you made a mistake. You knew before you started this thread. Don't beat yourself up anymore. That episode is over. It's done. It's in the past. What matters now is what you do next. You already know what to do. Good luck!

    How? That's simple. You chose to eat the pizza. You chose to eat piece after piece knowing that every bite was a bad idea, yet doing it anyways.
    Totally lost your journey? I don't even know what that means, but drop the melodrama. Wallowing in useless emotion does no good. You made a mistake. Own it. Make a decision now; will you take the surgery seriously from now on or will you let the desire for simple food rule your life at the expense of your health.
    The surgery is only a tool. How you choose to use that tool will determine how successful you will be after the honeymoon phase.
