  1. I'm kinda bad about it too.

    What I take daily are:

    Biotin 5,000 iu
    D3 10,000 iu. (I'm very low on vit D)
    Calcium Citrate 600
OTC Iron pill every other day
2 Flintstones Complete Vitamins (these are what I hate. Any chewables really).

    I was sleeved 2/8/17.

i was sleeved 5 days after you. how much have you lost since surgery? i feel like i'm super slow- which is fine. i'm glad it's going in the right direction !! also, have you started to notice you can eat more now. i am surprised at myself lately.

  2. don't drag me for this!! but i am now six months out & haven't been regularly taking my Vitamins. actually i haven't been taking my vitamins 🤦🏻‍♀️ but i know how important it is now! i have already been lectured. & i want what's best for my HEALTH. this is not just about the weight loss anymore. i lost the weight (80 so far) & now i want & need to be HEALTHY.

Can you please remind me of what i need so i can go grab it today?? such as multivitamin- how many mcg of etc do i need again?? or tell me which one you use & how many of them i need a day? how much Vitamin D do i need? & whatever else i need please let me know. thank you sooo much i really appreciate it pals!

  3. Have you ever seen Finding Nemo? Remember the scene with "fish are friends, not food!" Well, right now, fish are your friends, AND food. tuna fish is great, it's filling, and has ZERO fat and ZERO carbs (get the stuff in Water, not oil). For dinner tonight - 0 carbs, 0 fat, 26 Protein, and only 120 calories! I added some lite mayo, 1 carb, 3.5 fat, 0 Protein, 35 calories. Also put 1 oz of shredded cheese on top just for taste, 1 carb, 9 fat, 6 protein, 110 calories. Healthy, protein-rich, low carb, low fat, low cal, and I was stuffed at the end. Very filling.

If you're craving bread, I've heard good things about a cauliflower crust pizza - just make the base and don't put any toppings on if you don't want, and you've got a bread-like snack that's much healthier.

For several days in a row I had homemade chicken salad. I put 4 chicken breasts in a crockpot with some low sodium chicken broth and a little barbecue sauce for taste. Next morning they were really soft. Ground them up in the food processor, add some some lite mayo, sweet relish and mustard, and it's great! One 4.5 oz serving (are you ready for this?) - 0.5 carbs, 3.1 fat, 39 (!) protein, and 196 calories. That's half your protein in one meal. And it's filling too.

Just plan ahead, I know it's a cliche but if you don't plan to succeed you're planning to fail.

One last suggestion, I've been eating Shelly's Ricotta Bake almost every day (it's amazing) - one serving is 6.8 carbs, 12.5 fat, 16.3 protein, and 206 calories.

You can do it, just remember why you got the surgery in the first place. Nothing worthwhile is easy, just tell yourself that you WILL do it.

    awesome info!!! thanks!

  4. maybe you are stretching it. you said you feel the need to eat until stuffed. well, that could potentially be a problem. also i think you should avoid carbs more. less than 50g should be your goal! i think you should start by making sure you're tracking EVERYTHING. you say you are- but like realllly track EVERYTHING. and then make sure youre hitting your Protein goal and under your carb goals for the day. losing 2lb in 3 months... yeah somethings really off & makes no sense. that's also messed up about your dietician and surgeon lacking support/communication with you. smh :/

  5. so i had to do 6 months supervised diet.. which was a monthly visit to my nutritionist. i was just put on a lowcarb diet and told to track my meals on myfitnesspal. i would see her every month and weigh in. she would document my progress. your surgeon will have his requirements (maybe lose a set amount of weight and complete various labs) and the insurance has its own requirements (for example: bmi over 35 with health issues or over 40 with no issues).

You will have an orientation with the surgeons office which will explain everything to you and how the process works.

  6. thanks everyone for the responses! so i went in for my final nutrition weigh-in and she was still very happy for me. she was very encouraging and commended me on my lifestyle change. (which is true). i have totally changed the way i think about food and have adapted better habits. i am proud of myself regardless. luckily for me, my surgeon is super nice! the amount of weight he set for me to lose was not a REQUIREMENT by him nor the insurance. he just wanted to see some effort. so now.. i wait. she said it could take 2-4 weeks for approval. is this true? how long did it take you to hear back? lol the anticipation is killing meee. im super excited and anxious & grateful!! i cant believe im finally here at this point. seemed so far away when i first made the decision to ask my PCP for a referral.

  8. Hello Pals!

Today is my LAST nutrition visit. I have been struggling with losing weight this whole time. My weight has fluctuated up & down but I am 7 pounds down from my initial consultation. honestly, I feel like a failure. I tried REALLY hard but only got 7 pounds down in the end?? smh. Nervous if they will still approve me. Idk what to even say when I step into her office today lol. I guess it is what it is! & proof that I really do need this tool. The struggle is real.

How much did your surgeon require you to lose? How much did you end up losing by your last nutrition visit. Thanks for any responses! I will update this thread later with what happened at the last visit.. & if they approve me or not. STAY TUNED!

oh gotcha!! you will do great & the 6 months really fly by. my piece of advice is- do not over indulge from the moment u meet that surgeon! or you will be like me... struggling towards the deadline! I need to lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks smh. thinking about liquids after thanksgiving. but once u see that surgeon & nutritionist... be on your best behavior! lol. get all your goodies in NOW if u must.

  11. Is that to see if you loose weight before surgery?

Sent from my LGMS631 using the BariatricPal App

so they set a goal for me to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery and the nutritionist helps you stay on track by telling u a little bit of what's good and not good for you to eat during this time . she also gives u tips on things to start trying (like sipping Water, smaller portions, etc). from my understanding.. you need to try your damn hardest to lose the weight they set for you . or atleast not GAIN ANY. when do you see your nutritionist? have u had the consult yet?
