  4. Hello Pals! Today is my LAST nutrition visit. I have been struggling with losing weight this whole time. My weight has fluctuated up & down but I am 7 pounds down from my initial consultation. honestly, I feel like a failure. I tried REALLY hard but only got 7 pounds down in the end?? smh. Nervous if they will still approve me. Idk what to even say when I step into her office today lol. I guess it is what it is! & proof that I really do need this tool. The struggle is real. How much did your surgeon require you to lose? How much did you end up losing by your last nutrition visit. Thanks for any responses! I will update this thread later with what happened at the last visit.. & if they approve me or not. STAY TUNED!

The need to eat until stuffed

maybe you are stretching it. you said you feel the need to eat until stuffed. well, that could potentially be a problem. also i think you should avoid carbs more. less than 50g should be your goal! i think you should start by making sure you're tracking EVERYTHING. you say you are- but like realllly track EVERYTHING. and then make sure youre hitting your Protein goal and under your carb goals for the day. losing 2lb in 3 months... yeah somethings really off & makes no sense. that's also messed up about your dietician and surgeon lacking support/communication with you. smh :/

    Requirements before surgery

so i had to do 6 months supervised diet.. which was a monthly visit to my nutritionist. i was just put on a lowcarb diet and told to track my meals on myfitnesspal. i would see her every month and weigh in. she would document my progress. your surgeon will have his requirements (maybe lose a set amount of weight and complete various labs) and the insurance has its own requirements (for example: bmi over 35 with health issues or over 40 with no issues). You will have an orientation with the surgeons office which will explain everything to you and how the process works.
  17. loll. okay. you know i will !!

    This is it

i had my last nutrition visit yesterday! im waiting too. ahhh!!! congrats! we made it!
  20. thanks everyone for the responses! so i went in for my final nutrition weigh-in and she was still very happy for me. she was very encouraging and commended me on my lifestyle change. (which is true). i have totally changed the way i think about food and have adapted better habits. i am proud of myself regardless. luckily for me, my surgeon is super nice! the amount of weight he set for me to lose was not a REQUIREMENT by him nor the insurance. he just wanted to see some effort. so now.. i wait. she said it could take 2-4 weeks for approval. is this true? how long did it take you to hear back? lol the anticipation is killing meee. im super excited and anxious & grateful!! i cant believe im finally here at this point. seemed so far away when i first made the decision to ask my PCP for a referral.

  22. oh gotcha!! you will do great & the 6 months really fly by. my piece of advice is- do not over indulge from the moment u meet that surgeon! or you will be like me... struggling towards the deadline! I need to lose 10 pounds in 4 weeks smh. thinking about liquids after thanksgiving. but once u see that surgeon & nutritionist... be on your best behavior! lol. get all your goodies in NOW if u must.
  23. so they set a goal for me to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery and the nutritionist helps you stay on track by telling u a little bit of what's good and not good for you to eat during this time . she also gives u tips on things to start trying (like sipping Water, smaller portions, etc). from my understanding.. you need to try your damn hardest to lose the weight they set for you . or atleast not GAIN ANY. when do you see your nutritionist? have u had the consult yet?
