    Band Revision Patients?

Had band removed Dec 2016 and revised to RNY at the end of Feb 2017. Not to be too dramatic but I was given my life back and a better one at that... the band had made me so sick and I was throwing up after everything I ate, horrid reflux, and in constant pain where the port was pulling... and the worst miserable part was I was back up to over 330 pounds. My highest was close to 400 pounds and the lowest with the band was maybe 270’s which for me was still such an improvement. Today I am down over 135 pounds since Revision and have another 20 pounds or more of lose skin I need removed. I am off all Meds other than vitamins. I went from a tight women’s 26/28 to now a 12/14 and L/XL. I am smaller than I was in 5th grade. I am careful with portions and sugar - otherwise I get sick if it is too much. And the only thing other than sugar is iceburg lettuce that I do not tolerate lol. The only down side and I was prepared for it - being a slower loser since this was not my first WLS. I just tried not to compare myself to others and Just really stuck with the program and overall down 190 pounds from my highest since being banded. The sleeve was not an option for me since I was already suffereing from reflux so much and had been morbidly obese all my life I felt I needed the malabsorption as well. My biggest regret was waiting so long to seek help and getting the revision. I suffered a long time thinking I had failed yet again with it... but RNY is awesome and the best thing to ever happen to me! I wish you ALL the best!!!

    Band Revision Patients?

Just had my lapband removed 12/15...was hoping to convert to RNY at the same time, but my stomach was too beat up getting it out to continue (band in 7 years and had erosion). So looking forward to the second surgery in Feb or March now. I feel so much better already! It is almost hard to explain. I am a little sad that I have to do everything over again like the preop tests, insurance, incisions, and preop diet... but I am so happy to have it out and looking forward to the revision. I originally needed/wanted the RNY but insurance would not cover any WLS at the time...so the Band was it for cost and less downtime. I had hoped it would be my forever tool, but it was causing pain and damage, with a not so pretty helping of weight gain. I wish I had not been so stubborn, tired, and honestly scared to start the revision process sooner! The process has taken over 8 months but definitely worth it. I wish you the best of luck! 3. I am also with Peachtree Bariatrics and Dr Tuggle is great! I was supposed to be a band to bypass revision on 12/15, but only could get the band out... second surgery in another 6 to 8 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    CIGNA Insurance

I have Cigna and had to have 3 visits with the NUT. I had to show a change in my lifestyle like more protein, less carbs, and added exercise for example. The change in habits led to the weight loss for me. I could not have a net gain, but the NUT said basically insurance wants to see the adoption of healthy habits. Each visit we went over in detail what I was eating and drinking. I was approved for band to bypass revision. Cigna took about a week to approve once everything was submitted. I was never given an amount to lose... just guidelines to adopt the new habits I would need post op. Best of luck! Hope all works out! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I have a date!

I am December 15th! I normally procrastinate on Christmas shopping, so I now plan to get a jump on the Holidays early! That and to concentrate on the good habits I have adopted over the last few months in prep for surgery and life after. Congrats and best of luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My Hair is falling :(

I am anticipating surgery in Oct and have started pounding silica, Biotin, zinc, and some Iron. I just bought a hair Regrowth system at Ulta today. I already have thin/thinning hair and can't afford too lose much more... I figure if I can try to get it as full as I can now, maybe it won't be as bad post op. Ulta also had this product called hair building fibers (Toppik) that I may experiment with. They had a trail size in different hair shades. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I had heard about Dr Duncan doing the revisions, so I was looking for any experiences with the other Doctors. I was confident when I met him about his abilities, and was very happy that they attempt to do the band removal and GB in one surgery. Congrats and best of luck! I finish my 3 diet supervised visits beginning of Sept and hope to get scheduled soon after that for surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. Anyone had surgery with Dr. Urrego at Peachtree Bariatrics? Any feedback you can share? I have just started my 3 month supervised diet and hope to have surgery by 10/16. I am revising from band to bypass. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
