  4. I originally wanted gastric sleeve. My Mayo primary care Dr. Suggested I have gastric by-pass. I had consultation with bariatric Dr. & he also suggested by-pass. My first nutritional class at Mayo was excellent. She went in detail all the options. Gastric by-pass is the most successful, you lose approximately 70% of your body went. Studies show after 5 years the average weight gain is 20% of weight lost. So if you lost 100 lbs most gained back was 20lbs. That's manageable to lose. Suffice to say I chose by-pass, surgery Nov 28.   6. Excellent!! I'm so happy for you. Wow I hate the gym so I hope I get as much energy as you do that I want to go to gym!!! Again, congrats a job well done???????????????????? I'm scheduled Nov 28, start my liquid diet Nov 13.
  7. Mayo, Jacksonville, where I am having my bypass requires 2 weeks of Optifast powder, Choc>Van< Straw> prior to surgery. Its expensive at Mayo pharmacy but I found on Ebay. They also gave us several different recipies. I need to drink 5 per day. Also instructed to drink warm Water & bullion cube if I get dizy. 17 days begins my new life!
  8. Hang in there! Your almost thru the pain part. I have had numerous surgeries and the first couple of days are the worst. Try and sip on your water & keep your mouth moist with the swabs.... rest, rest and ask for more pain meds. They do not want your suffer. Check in tomorrow & let me know how you are doing ❤️
  9. You are correct, they do it so you will get used to a liquid diet & also shrinks the liver. I had 2 months classes, nutrition & psychology. Had every medical & lab test possible. It was a lot of preparation. I even found out I had sleep apnea!
  10. I cannot wait to go in regular sizes. I shop with my sister & she is a 3-4!!!!! If i lose what they tell me I should be ble to get into 10-12 which make me very happy!

  16. My gastric by-pass is scheduled for Nov 28. My last appt before preop is with the pharmacist. My medications all need to be changed to liquid or chewable. Has anyone been thru this process? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
