  1. Trust you'll look back after you've lost your first 50lbs & you I'll be very very happy... just rest now, & get well.... ???
  2. One of the Baractric Dr.s talked o me for a good 45 mins a month after surgery when I was having trouble eating. He said it's going to take a good 6+ months to totally heal & feel like yourself mentally & physically. He said we cut & transferred our intestines! Your new stomach needs to adjust to all new food which takes time. He stressed to me o be diligent with my diet, only eat what my program says... he made do much sense to me & I have adhered to his advise! Exceot for yesterday, I had a Michelob Ultra...bad but it was awesome!
  3. I didn't have any drains. I had Robotic, no big abdominal incision. I had 5 holes which only took a couple of stitches.. I would say 3-4 to heal enough to walk a little. It's funny I really do not remember much about the actual surgery. I went home the next day.
  4. Is the pain diminishing?? Try & get off pain pills s soon as you can. They will delay your bowel movements!! Are you able to drink your shakes? Feel better & Happy Mothers' Day????
  5. 28lbs in 3 weeks is a lot! Only weigh yourself once a week on same day... you'll be fine, hang in there!!
  6. OMG Nana, poor thing, I'm so sorry? don't regret, your pain will pass.. what r they doing for you? Just pain meds?
  7. OMG Nana, poor thing, I'm so sorry? What do u mean, "retreating?"
  8. Hey Nana how are you feeling??
  9. My surgeon gave me a goal weight of 138! Last time I was close to that weight was when I got married 42 years ago!! I'm sure I can lose another 24lbs, already lost 54 in 6 months! You will be fine, get help if you think you are out of control! Keep on this site for support!! I'm 66 so if I can cope anyone can!!!!
  10. It was about 2-3 weeks not long! Start walking immediately, at first just walk up & down your driveway a few times a day, every week walk a litter further, it really helps!
  11. I had Robotic Gastric By-pass & healed pretty fast. I went home the next day after the surgery. After few days had bowel movement. i had a hard time eating & drinking the requirement intake. The first 3 months were difficult for me. Eating, exercise & mental state took this time to adjust. It was weird, at 3 1/2 months it was like a light bulb went off, everything started working together!! You'll do great Nana!
  12. snimmon Wow I'd say you are doing great!!!
  13. Taylor this too will pass believe me! I don't believe I've ever even depressed BUT the 2nd month after surgery I was depressed.... I didn't eat I cried ver nothing & all I wanted to do was sleep. Finally at 3rd month I forced myself to get up & move & it was alight bulb went on, started feeling better the shadow lifted.. my surgeon told me it would pass & it did! Hang in there IT WILL GET BETTER I promise!
  14. I felt the same after surgery & not to discourage you but I also felt like crap for a good 3 months. I didn't like anything, all food tasted terrible. I ended up at Mayo ER once because I was so sick. One of team Bariactric surgeons sat with me for over an hour which was so helpful. He explained that my intestines were cut & swithched & my new stomach needs to get used to the introduction of new foods. Also said my taste buds would return. After all the tests, X'rays he determined I ate & drank too fast!! That has been an issue with me, slowing down!! Trust me I do it now although difficult. Also not drinking 1/2 before & after meals is also a challenge for me but getting better!! After 3 months it was like a switch went off, everything falling into place, much easier. I go to gym 3 times a week. I've lost 58lbs since Nov 28, 2017 & very happy with results. Not happy with excess skin on my arms but working on them! I'll wait a year before I decide what to do about the excess skin. Don't worry about what people say, only surround yourself with positive people. I've had several people tell me they didn't think I needed surgery I just shrug off & do not answer... hang in there your doing great!!
  15. I'm 66, had my surgery Nov 28, 2016. I've list 56 lbs, I'm losing 1-2 lbs week now which is fine by me. Looking at the whole picture I'm very happy with 56lbs in 6 months. Only have 22 too! Just keep following the plan, don't focus on lbs because it will happen! I'd say if you do not lose any weight for2 weeks you should call your Dr.
  16. I had my surgery @ Mayo, Jacksonville. I had several Nutrition/Pysch classes 3 months before. My surgery date (mandatory). I loved them, so much info it has helped me. I love Tuffs Medical Center (originally from Maine) I've had several knee urgencies there. I find their booklet very helpful, I use https://www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/~/media/Brochures/TuftsMC/Patient Care Services/Departments and Services/Weight and Wellness Center/GBP Diet Manual12611.ashx as a guide all the time. Ask for help it's too much to do on your own!!
