  1. My insurance required 6 months of supervised medical weight loss diet before they would approve surgery.
  2. I started my journey at 540 in October of 2015. At surgery in May of 2016 I was 480. I am now 8 1/2 months out and am now at 319 pounds! My surgeon is very happy with my weight loss and yelled at me when I said I was worried I hadn't lost enough. :-P My surgeon never gave me a weight loss goal.
  3. Thanks! Haha! Boy do I wish I would ever look that good!
  4. @_Kate_ Thanks for your reply! What procedures did you have done? I usually have trouble after surgery. I was on 4mg of Dilaudid every 4-6 hours for 3 weeks after my sleeve surgery.
  5. @Stella S Thanks! My surgeon's office did tell me I could get a consultation at a PS office to see what they say. I have one set up I was just curious if anyone else had it done in between! I'm also worried the pain will be so bad I won't want to get it again!
  6. @jellybean12 Is this your weigh in for 2/10?
  7. @one year post op Is this your weigh in for 2/10?
  8. I had the sleeve surgery May 29, 2016. I had not gotten my period for about 5 years before surgery. After surgery I started getting it about every 2 weeks and it would last between 3-5 days. I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome though. I have been on the same BC the entire time. Since I had to stop BC for a month before and after surgery I started growing cysts again. My GYN thinks this may have something to do with my abnormal periods. They are just now starting to even out.
  9. Hello, I had my sleeve surgery on May 29, 2016. I started at a high weight of 540 pounds and am currently at 319. Here are my questions: 1. I already have a lot of hanging skin, did anyone get a surgery in between the end surgery to get rid of hanging skin? It's already giving me trouble on my stomach. 2. How long did you wait to get plastic surgery? 3. Did anyone lose the amount of weight I have to lose (over 300 pounds)? What was your skin situation like? 4. Has anyone had to date before having this extra skin removed? Did it make it harder? I am 30 and am trying to date but it is hard, I am very embarrassed with my body. It's odd, I felt more confident in my body while dating when I was heavier than I do now... Thanks for any responses!
  10. I had surgery on May 29, 2016. I has my first sip of alcohol on November 20, 2016. I only had a very small amount of wine (1/8 of a glass at a restaurant) and I was pretty tipsy. Everyone has different tolerances. Before I had surgery I was able to drink a lot (like one time I had 3 large rum and cokes, 4 shots of fireball, and 4 large Malibu bay breezes) without feeling much. I suggest trying alcohol at home first for sure!
  11. That is the BEST feeling!! Congrats on your success!!

  17. There are a couple things that could be going on. Worst case scenario you have an impaction in your bowels not allowing the stool to get through. When you have an impaction liquid stool can still get through. Is your stomach swollen or painful at all? If it is I would go to the ER or call your on call surgeon. My doctor had told me since we are eating less we will have less bowel movements but when I told them I was having them once a week they became concerned. I ended up being dehydrated and a bit impacted. I ended up taking 3 dulcolax pills, drinking smooth move tea, and drinking a bottle of magnesium citrate. Even all of that didn't help. In the end I had to give myself a fleet enema. That was what finally got things moving. Make sure you are drinking enough but I would call your surgeon because impaction is very serious. 19. Here's the thing....You are an adult. You have no responsibility to tell him. You can tell only the people you want to. Also, it is really NO ONE'S business!! I understand family is important but if you do this surgery you do this for YOU not anyone else and you need NO ONE else's approval. Even if they notice the rapid weight loss you don't need to tell them you had surgery. That is a personal decision you made. If someone asks how you are losing weight so fast (which they really shouldn't but everyone feels they have a right to comment on other's looks) you don't have to tell them. You can just say you have been working out and watching what you eat. You owe them nothing. You owe it to yourself to only give out that information to those you want to if you feel someone will break you down mentally if they knew. This si the time to focus on yourself and buckle down! YOU CAN DO THIS!!
  20. SLEEVE 100%!! I had the band in 2008. I had soooo many complications and so do many many other people. It has not been as successful as they hoped. My surgeon doesn't even put the band in anymore but they take out about 20 a year. I suggest you DO NOT get the band. The sleeve has been amazing for me. Even though I had some complications in the first 6 months (I am 8 months out now) I am so thankful for this surgery. It has saved my life!!
  21. They make this show to be entertaining. If they only showed stories of patients who had no issues and were very successful they would have no ratings. People watch it for the dramatic stories. Please take these stories with a grain of salt. If you are not close to that weight range you have a much lower chance of complications (though there is always a risk, this is a serious surgery that should not be taken lightly). I started at 540 and did have some complications after surgery, I am now 8 months out and would do this surgery again in a heartbeat because it game me my life back! Starting weight (10/29/15): 540 Surgery Weight (5/29/16): 480 Current Weight (2/1/17): 325
  22. Once you start eating foods with actual substance you will start to notice the restriction. With just liquids you won't feel the same fullness as you will with solids.
