My hubby has said the same thing.... don't lose anymore please! Then he stops himself and says you know what-- Do what you feel is best for your body. He tells me he thinks I look great-- and that he just doesn't want me to lose the stuff he likes... I had friends 30 lbs ago tell me to stop right there. Don't sweat it. We're here to maximize this tool to the best of our abilities. If you want to work out, get fit, toned keep your heart strong and such go for it!!! Your body will let you know when you're there.

Candygyrl got a reaction from Dashofpixiedust8 in Question about expected percentage lost
I'm currently 9 months out. My starting weight was about 256-257 lbs. I'm not sure how they determine how much of that is excess weight I did do a body scan but never received my results. I'll ask for them at my next follow up 4/1. I was on a site recently http://www.obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/gastric-bypass/how-much-can-i-expect-to-lose it gave me a starting point and some examples were listed. In the example provided they determined the patients excess body weight not based on the BMI but based on "their ideal weight".
    Me
Ideal weight 145 lbs. Starting weight 257. Excess weight= 112 lbs.
Weight lost so far 98lbs ( I would just round up to 100 but whatever)
98/112= 87.5% of my excess body weight lost.
If I make it to goal...
112/112= 100% of my excess body weight lost. I have no doubt I will get there.

If I were to go by BMI Calculator
Ideal weight per BMI 125 (high school weight)
    257-125= 132lbs excess weight.
If I were to get to goal of 145 by my surgiversary That would put me at 110 lbs lost
110/132= 83% of excess body weight lost.

In 1-2 lbs I will have lost 100 lbs total. All of it was lost Post op. I lost no weight pre op... I DID but gained it back. By surgery day I was back to my weight when I walked through the door.
I've been trying to maintain here because I like my weight where it is... I actually preferred my weight at 175 but we're here to maximize this tool as much as possible. I don't plan to gain 30 lbs 4-5-10 years out but if I do, I know 175 wouldn't be such a bad place to be! I have slowed my weight loss by allowing complex carbs more often with meals (sweet potatoes, brown rice, whole wheat/multigrain breads) WHO slows their weight loss???? ME!!!-- Things were moving to fast and I was losing at a rapid rate of speed. I would have been below goal by month 7 or 8 if I didn't. I wanted to give my body time to adjust to minimize skin sagging which I have a little bit of but nothing to cry or hide my body over. However I find that Carbs can drive my hunger so I tread lightly. Going on a cruise MAY 5th. So the next 6 weeks will be dedicated to constructing this Bikini ready body. Ready for short shorts, sun dresses, tank tops etc... This will be my celebratory cruise and it also happens to be my 20th class reunion

When you buy Jeans from fashion nova in a size 13 (juniors) and they are a little loose so you buy another pair in an 11 and when they arrive you realize you could have gone down 1 more size
When you don't have to try on your clothes anymore when shopping. You can pretty much eyeball it.

too bad this thread is no longer active I would like to discuss our new shopping habits. I'm not bypassing my bills to shop but I am receiving frequent packages from online stores that I love. I love not having to go to the mall sometimes so its easy for me to pick up a few cute tops, boots, jeans or a dress online. Now I just told myself I need to stop but now its time to think about spring/summer. uh oh.

Yes I get this all the time! I don't take offense or feel as if people are being too opinionated or invasive. There are people I work with who may not know me personally but have seen me around who say wow you look great you don't plan to lose more do you? or People who know me well who say you look good right there don't lose anymore because you are a nice weight and you still have great curves you don't want to lose that.
My mom feels like I should ignore everyone lose as much as I can because why else go to this extreme to have surgery without achieving the highest weight loss possible.
I feel like I'm a good weight too but I know I want to lose a little more just to have some wiggle room. I'm 5 '4 166 pear shaped size 8-10. 160 would be a max weight 150 would be a reach weight. 140 was my original goal but now I don 't think I want to go lower than 150 lb.
So all that matters is what you think and feel. let them say whatever I take it as a compliment that people think you're getting too skinny lol! I've been wanting that problem for years.

    Alex,
I am a big believer in private property, and you invested time/money/talent creating a working site such as this, I do considerate "private property" not public domain. So, I do respect your right to make editorial decisions.
That said phrases like "safe spaces" in the current political/cultural environment are now "trigger" words to me. (Ironic I'm using that verbiage). It does leave a very bad taste in my mouth.
One of the most endearing parts of this online community was the frank adult discussion on a wide variety of topics. That's probably what has brought me back here more often than I really should. As a whole, I have found the conversations to be of higher than average quality. It is always interesting getting the perspective of people worldwide, as well as those from NYC and major metropolitan areas and the handful of us in flyover country.
I have always had two reasons for actively taking part in this community...first was to try and give back and help others because I sure needed it early on. Second was the wealth of knowledge I would not have ever found on my own because I would not have known what to Google.
I'll keep an eye open, to see if this place is still worth my time. Frankly, I have enjoyed the tough love comments and while I am not looking for drama, I've never seen anything excessive. There are plenty of other boards which I have been part of that have more than their share of trolls, but this one has not been one to my way of thinking.
Since I am not privy to the PM's I have no idea of what is so bothersome, but I really have enjoyed the contributions of those who have been banned and that is why I am publically offering a sincere wish you would reconsider. But as I said this is your project and investment.

I won't be deleting any accounts. You are more than welcome to unsubscribe from our emails and go your merry way.
The straw that broke the camels back was a group of weight loss surgeons, bariatric psychologists, and other integrated health members that approached me recently at a weight loss surgery conference I was attending. They said they love suggesting BariatricPal to their patients but were very concerned about some bullying that was taking place. They didn't feel it was a "safe" place for their patients. Many of our members ended up becoming overweight because of the bullying and trauma they had suffered earlier on in life. It's quite sickening that they should be required to re-live the same trauma while seeking "support" online!
I opened up an investigation a few weeks ago and what I discovered was nauseating. There are hundreds of private messages between some members that discuss strategy on how to bully or make fun of other members that disagree with them publicly. At the end of the day, we're an online support group and everyone needs to learn how to play nice. If you can't abide by the rules, you're not welcome here.
If this was about $, I'd keep things status quo and wouldn't ruffle any feathers. I promised myself that 2017 would be an awesome one for the BariatricPal community and our members. If you're not happy with my decision, you are more than welcome to follow the members I banned to the other online communities that are readily available to you.

Candygyrl got a reaction from TexasguyEP in How are you eating at 7 months out ?
I am at 7 mos. My nutritionist gave me the indication I could eat what I wanted as well. Within reason of course. She provided me with a list of typical fast food restaurants and food suggestions including their calorie content, Protein etc.
She reinforced the importance of pairing my carbs with a Protein and encouraged whole grains whenever possible.
It really does depend on your goals. I am trying to slow my weight loss therefore, I would allow myself a Taco if I want one. I have eaten tacos. I can usually only eat 1. Preferrably I make my own. I use the tortilla shell but I may use ground turkey, extra veggies (lettuce/tomato), a little cheese and sour cream. Then that would be it. I wouldn't have another taco for weeks if I didn't think about it.
I think about what I've eaten up to this point. I feel that for the most part I've developed some pretty good habits so I try to stay on track with those principles. Eating every 3 -4 hours. Protein first, then incorporate veggies and fruits throughout the day and in between meals along with other snack ideas like nuts, cheese, yogurt. Along with getting in daily fluids. No meals after 7 except special occasions which fall every blue moon. I still can't eat very much and I don't try to. If I was only able to eat a portion of my salmon and broccoli, I put it away and have it during another meal. I don't try to wait 45 min- 1hr and then finish it off. I can see people getting in trouble this way. it can lead to overeating. Walk away, wait 3-4 hours have it for dinner.

I think you have valid concerns. I lost over 100 lbs in 10 months and have the skin issues, hair loss (it's growing back) and some sagging in the neck. I feel and look SO much better! I've added weight training to my workout routine to help build muscle. I will eventually look into plastic surgery but I want to maintain a goal weight for at least a year before. I'm not finished losing but here are some pics.
