  1. How long post op are you? I've read lots of people saying that this surgery is a tool and we must use it to assist in making the lifestyle that we need and desire. I am 8 weeks post op and although only small amounts.. I have found I can eat any kind of food. And that scares me too as I fear what I am capable of. I guess it's something we will have to work at every day. Good luck x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Hi everyone... I know it's a big NO NO but... Just wondering if anyone is able to explain the reasons behind no soft drink after gastric sleeve? I can't seem to find an answer. Is it damaging to the new pouch? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post-op diet at work

What everyone else said... Hehe But also don't be afraid about people not knowing about your surgery. I was so nervous to tell anyone as it's such a personal choice. But I think in the end be proud of who you are. You made this choice for your life and your happiness! I personally chose to just get it off my chest and tell everyone as I struggle with the idea of hiding things and couldn't be bothered with the work that takes! Haha and I feel a lot better for it, you will probably find people are more supportive than you realised. And anyone who isn't - is not worth your time and mind space! Good luck getting back into work and the rest of your journey xox Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Lots of walking! That moist chest can definitely turn into pneumonia!! It's best to be sitting upright and moving as much as possible. Not just for that but to prevent clotting post op! Walking I found also helped the discomfort I had and I agree with the lady above who suggested getting off the pain meds. Once off them I didn't feel as Woosey and light headed and things just got better from there. Good luck xox Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    PPI's forever?

My doctor gave me a script for the first 4 weeks post op. They ran out a few days ago and so far all is ok. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hi everyone.. I am 5 weeks post op and having the following problems with my medications... Gastric upset from the elevit multi Vitamins My contraceptive implanon seems to no longer be working as I've had a period for the first time in 2 years since having it in place. And I feel my anti depressant is no longer effective. I had been feeling ok with them before surgery but have now slipped again mood wise since having the surgery. Has anyone else had complications with their medications post surgery? I'd love to know more. I am visiting my GP tomorrow but would love to know if this is a common concern? 7. I took lactulose to help with my bowels when constipated And when too watery you can get great fibre supplements from the chemist to help thicken your stool. I use Benefibre and it is definitely tasteless. I'm very fussy about flavours and textures and I find this very easy to take. It can be added to foods and drinks too so you can take it anyway that's easiest for you. fruits and prune juice are also very good if you don't wish to use medications. 8. I didn't have to do any pre op diet either. I did try to cut out a few things like take away food and Coke as I was over doing it with those. But there's no reason you can't enjoy a few last splurges before hand. I still did that and have managed just fine. I think because the first few weeks I haven't felt like overeating anyway so it's not been as big a challenge as you think it would be. Not that it's easy just not as tough as you think. 9. I seem to have stalled after week 2. After a huge loss in week 1. So far I've been advised this is quiet normal. I had been freaking myself out that there was something wrong with me- so don't stress. It seems to be very common to happen even at an early stage! Best of luck with your journey x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm 3 weeks or and did the same thing except that it did make me sick. I was also allowed to try carbs at this point but just felt it was too much for me. The pain was so uncomfortable until I was able to dump it. Lesson very much learnt that was the first time I'd hd that problem since surgery and it was in my opinion just down to my stomach not being ready for that food group yet. we will get there! 11. I'm unsure how to reply to a specific response. Thanks ladies, it's a relief to know it can be normal this early. Thank goodness it's not a diet or if have been off the rails by now! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tounge gunk

You most likely have oral thrush. I had this about a week after my surgery. My surgeon said it's very common. Between medications and being dehydrated it changes the natural flora in your body causing the thrush. You can buy over the counter medication from your pharmacist which clears it up in around 5 days x Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Ted hose

I only had to wear my teds for the first two nights. As long as you are up and moving they should be fine to remove. Of course if you have a history of DVT or have been advised my your doctor to wear them for a loner period then follow their orders. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. Hi.. My name is Gemma, I had my gastric sleeve done on the 17/05/2016. I had a huge 7 kg loss in week one, then only 1kg loss in week two and now I have lost nothing at all in week 3. I had heard some weeks you can have this, but I didn't think it would have happened this early on. My intake is drastically lower than anything I had previous to surgery. As well as a complete switch in the types of foods I am consuming. I have made sure to stay away from sugary drinks etc so I really don't understand why this has happened. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
