  1. If you're on any medications bring them with you. Not just the names and doses but the actual medications. When I went for my last appointment they went over the size of each pill and the PA was able to tell me which ones I would have to split, which I could take whole, etc. Most of the rest of my appointment was mainly going over what I could expect on the day of surgery, and then signed a bunch of consents (not all, a couple had to be signed day of surgery). It was a pretty easy appointment but I imagine it varies from surgeon to surgeon.

    Does anyone regret surgery

I had surgery on 12/19/16. I am currently going through a period of surgery regret. It's not because of not being able to eat large quantities anymore since I didn't really do that before hand. It's not about not being able to drink since I don't drink. For me my regret currently is because of two things mainly. 1. I'm losing too slowly for my taste. I feel like I butchered myself for nothing since I could lose faster just by eating low carb. 2. What weight I have lost seems to have all come from my boobs. I am not pleased with how my body looks already. Will I forever regret the surgery? Doubtful. But right now that's how I feel.
  3. I have a question for everyone who uses this. I don't, never have, but I'm getting desperate for pain relief and willing to try anything at this point. I'm also in Colorado so I don't have to worry about needing a medical card. Since I started my pre-op journey in June my back has hurt worse and worse. More weight I lose, more it hurts. Usually starts hurting by early afternoon and by the night it spasms so bad I'm in tears. I'm working with my doctor about it but she won't prescribe pain meds (just take tylenol and use ice/heat... yeah, doesn't touch it at all). Even the oxycodone I was given after the surgery didn't touch the pain. Could marijuana help? I'm so freaking desperate.
  4. Yes, I will be talking to my own surgeon about this, but in the meantime while I wait for my appointment I want to ask a question. After your VSG when were you cleared to work out? I don't mean walking nor do I even mean running, I mean actual working out at the gym circuit and weight training?

    Cleared to work out?

Thanks for answering. I see my surgeon on the 20th and I'll be a little over 4 weeks (almost 5 weeks actually) at that point. I'm REALLY hoping he'll clear me because it'll be another few weeks after that before I'll be able to get up there to see him (he's a couple hours away from me). I'm itching to get back to weight training. I have instability in my ankles due to numerous injuries over the years so I can't do much walking and I feel so mushy right now. I want to get back to feeling in charge of my body instead of stuck doing nothing. I have started doing body weight squats since that doesn't affect my abs, and I'm considering getting hand weights and doing bicep curls and things like that, basically ANYTHING that doesn't touch my abs.

    Cleared to work out?

Did you have any weight restrictions at that time still?

    Any Colorado sleevers?

I didn't go with Dr. Metz but I believe he is through Parker Adventist hospital too. If I'm right then you're lucky. I went with Dr. Long at Park Adventist and it was a wonderful experience. I loved that hospital so much. I actually felt pampered at times. (Well as pampered as could be while still in pain from surgery. lol) ETA: Oh hmm, looks like maybe he doesn't go through Parker Adventist. Weird. I could have sworn I saw signs for Dr. Metz's weight loss classes at Parker Adventist when I was there for Dr. Long's classes.

    Taking pills, how far apart?

10 minutes apart? I was never told that. I just had to break my pills into a bazillion pieces and take them one at a time. Even in the hospital they never had me wait in between each of them.
  9. Request sent. I think I did it right, it'll come from my old business name, Playing With My Bubbles.
  10. Sample pack #1 is gone. Are you still interested in #2 @@Alexis99?
  11. I'll let you know if they don't end up taking the top. If they do are you still interested in the bottom alone?

    Insurance

I was approved on Medicaid in Colorado. Easy requirements and easy approval.
  13. I'm at the point where I'm feeling like this surgery just isn't meant to be. I just want to give up, but I really really don't. 1. I am losing medicaid at the end of the year. This is definite. I may or may not have other insurance by then, no way of knowing for a while now. There is (was) a slim chance I could get the surgery done in December IF all the stars aligned up just right (already had two weigh ins with my PCP, so if those counted I might be able to get in by December if the surgeon's office accepted those weigh ins. 2. I was supposed to meet with the surgeon, dietitian, and counselor on July 21st and get everything started. Got an email today that they have to reschedule me. I have to call tomorrow to find out when. 3. I was already considering going to Mexico with my tax refund if I had to, but I don't want to do this. I need my tax refund for other bills. But now I may have to do this anyway. 4. I'm having trouble getting info about how everything works for surgery in Mexico. I have severe anxiety and can't make phone calls. But I get one line answers in email. I'm frustrated. I'm pretty sure I want to use Dr. Illan but I need more info. I don't even know yet how much it would cost at my BMI. He's already talking about needing a $500 deposit but I'm not doing that blindly and I just can't get any answers. I'm frustrated and sad and crying and I don't want to give up but I feel like everything is against me. *sigh*

    Keeping Food Warm

I know already I'm going to have the same problem. It's one of the reasons I always used to eat fast. I can not stand hot food that is even just luke warm (I microwave EVERYTHING even if it literally just came out of the oven), and cold food that is getting close to room temperature (I've been known to pour milk into Cereal by placing the bowl IN the fridge so the milk carton doesn't have to come out at all). It's part of my sensory disorder. Hopefully it's not as severe for you. I've joked with hubby that I will have to eat my meals standing at the microwave and just reheat between each bite.

    Editing my signature

Thank you so much. I was wondering if it had something to do to the ticker being already in my signature. Glad to know it's being worked on.
  18. I already have a ticker in my signature and would like to add: HW - 368 SW - 332 CW - See ticker GW - 175 But when I go to save it it errors and says I can have 0 URLs in my signature. Other than the ticker I'm not adding a URL. I'm pretty sure I've seen other sigs with both tickers and text lines... how do I do it?
  19. Are you allowed to mix in protein powder like Genepro or does your surgeon want you to get in all the protein through foods alone?
  20. Hi all! Joining this thread late but my surgery was also on December 19th. I LOVED my surgeon and the hospital. It went great. Now that I'm home and still dealing with full liquids I'm not doing so great. So very tired of sweet drinks, and I hate soup, always have. This has not been fun. Really looking forward to purees on the 2nd. Well, okay not really, I have problems with textures and pureed texture is one that makes me gag, but I can have mashed potatoes and unsweetened applesauce, so that'll be nice at least.

    I'm calling BS

I'm 9 days out and I want to want it, I really do, but omg my belly is still so sore! I don't have bruises but it FEELS like a giant bruise. Hubby tries to play with my boobs and the added sensation is just too much for me. So sad! I hope this doesn't last too long.

    Dec19 is my date

December 19th was my date as well! *high fives* How are you feeling?

I just want to give up

Surgery went well. It's now 8 days out and I'm still in pain though. No where near as bad as when I had my gallbladder removed though so that was nice. It was a wonderful hospital and felt very well taken care of the entire time. Currently I'm at the stage where I would KILL to be able to CHEW something, but I won't. I start pureed on the 2nd so at least that'll be a little better.

I just want to give up

I've been approved! At the final class I learned I also had to have a letter from my PCP (previously told no, I didn't need that) so it took a little while to get the appointment with my primary and get the letter sent over. I was submitted to Medicaid on December 1st and DENIED December 2nd. Why? Because my PCP's letter was too in depth so Medicaid didn't consider it a final clearance letter. I immediately called my PCP and she actually called the surgeon's office and worked with them directly so to write the letter exactly as requested. I was resubmitted that day (Friday the 2nd) and got the call yesterday (Monday the 5th) that I was APPROVED. Best of all there was still a surgical opening on December 19th, the last day of surgery for the year. I got it by the skin of my teeth but I got in this year! This has been such a crazy and stressful journey but now it's finally almost over. Well, this part of it anyway.
