Hi Guys,
I was sleeved on 5/10/16 & I'm almost in wonderland!!! Things are going really well...THANK GOD! I have a small situation, my family's Insurance has recently changed from BCBS to UHC and our particular plan does NOT cover anything related to Bariatric Procedures/Visits. It only matters because it was time for my 6month post-op check-up (delayed due to work schedule and doctors office schedule, etc.)!
So what do you guys suggest. Thankfully, I called my insurance company to check and make sure my follow-up is covered.
So what is typically done at a 6-month post-op other than checking my weight and ensuring I'm on track with my weightloss?
I had my physical with my primary care physician a few days before 6 month post op date and I'm still well and healthy.
Help me out sleevers...

Thanks, these are the things I like to know before hand. If my insurance is being charged for things I don't need, that worries me.Yeh, I was dubious about them as well especially when they called me and offered me like 6 other products to go through my insurance for approval.
I did get four cases of shakes ..wow... and scar cream which is actually something super potent I'm afraid to use but tge one thing that really bothered me is that they offered me bariatric Vitamins and I said no, because I had planned to get them from my nutritionist via my insurance...they asked me again..trying to talk me into it and I still declined.....
Well, when my packages arrived from them, it included a large bottle of bariatric vitamins!!!! Now normally this would be good but to me, on put off because I specifically told them no thank you and yet they had to put the request on the doctors prescription and he signed it. They called me from the company only mentioned the shakes and cream bit I still got Vitamins too....that's kinda shady to me!!
I am happy to have like $100.00 in shakes even though I subsequently learned my stomach is displeased with sucralose so I an drink them on emergency...oh well
Anyways thats my two cents

I'm almost 6 months out and almost 60 lbs down... I think ppl that don't see me often notice immediately. Those that see me daily/weekly started asking at about 30/40 lbs down?

Has anyone used them? Want to know if this is legit. I would love if my supplements and Protein shakes are covered, but I'd also like to know what they're NOT advertising if there are any hidden catches to insurance covering my shakes and Vitamins.
Thanks,
Sharee

Thanks, I still have a lot of natural cushion back there, but I'm so glad I'm not the only one.Yes I definitely share your pain so to speak - I find sitting for long periods very uncomfortable both in my backside and shoulders, I guess I'm just bonfire than I used to be and I no longer have the additional padding I did previously. I've taken to having a cushion on my chair in the office but even that doesn't solve the problem

Hi All, I'm 5 months post-op and have lost a total of 55 lbs. I have noticed in the last few weeks my butt hurts if I'm sitting for an extended amount of time. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm glad you asked, I was just about to ask myself! 5 months post-op and typically range between 850-950 calories here lately. Wanted to make sure it was normal!

I have tried many... Premier Protein has been the overall winner! chocolate and Vanilla are my go-to flavors. I have tried others but they just aren't as yummy!

2-4 weeks recovery for sleeve. Went back to work 13 days post-op....took things slowly. I'm a chemist so we move around a lot! Needed lots of naps for up to 8 weeks post-op.

Congratulations! Job well done Daniel!Hey friends!
One year ago I started my journey to health & fitness. I began at 504 lbs., and currently weigh 232 lbs. I've lost 272 lbs this year. I'm going to Celebrate with some plastic surgery in the coming months.
I live outside of KC, MO. My surgeon was/is tremendous, and this forum has been also been so inspiring.
I've gained insight and perspective as you've shared your journeys with me...so, I thought I'd share back! :-)
All the best to each of you!
Daniel

I initially told my physician's office I was interested in going home the day of surgery as well. I changed my mind the more I thought about it and I'm glad I did. I felt so bad, they kept me an extra day. The pain was too much for me to focus on walking and sipping Water. So I went from "send me home day of surgery" to just let me rest so I can go home. Day after surgery was 10x better.

That's typically what happens now when I order sides. ThanksI was given one during my hospital stay. I won't use it because even with the larger portion I can take it home for several other meals.

Lol! Agreed! No, I order from the appetizer menu or take home leftovers. Not interested in discussing my medical history with complete strangers.

Yes, there are bad, bad ppl in any group of ppl. Don't relate their meanness to their skin color....they are just meany weenies! ???? Typically mean ppl are very tender and are mean due to so many insecurities. I see right through it...It bothers me at times, but I usually know the real deal without them saying it...
I'm glad you aren't racists...because I'm nice and I'm brown! ????

Oh. Yes, you are right..see I didn't even think of that! Where are you located in the US? I'm trying to see how popular this is. I'm in NC and my friend who recently had a bypass has one as well. I'm really private about my surgery so I only foresee myself using it, if I ever have to, with my family. I don't think I'll ever use it while on a work lunch. Thanks!I haven't tried mine, mostly because it allows me to order from the kids menu and its a little hard to find healthy things on the kids menu.

Don't share anything personal with her. It seems she has issues and likes drama just like so many ppl at so many jobs. Keep playing your music and stay positive. I'm so private about my surgery very few ppl know. Like, my family and 5 of my closest friends maybe....It seems like you are a nice person so I'm happy your "boo-thang" is there to keep you smiling as long as 'D' doesn't poison her! ????

Ok, great. So pre-existing may work for UHC now that you mention it. All of my blood work, lab work was done and all appeared to be WELL! BCBS has been billed and paid for the surgery that was in May, however all of my treatments weren't grouped together for an extended amount of time. I'll investigate more!
