JM80TT got a reaction from SiSSi829 in What's the every day difference? Band to bypass
Thank you so much for your responses, they've really encouraged me... I'm just waiting on my RNY surgery date. I can't believe I've put up with 10 years of stuck food... wishing I could eat fresh fruit, a carrot stick, an apple! So sick of 'stuck face' and excusing myself from the table.
I had my band emptied (after discovering a massively dilated oesophagus) and I've managed to lose a little weight and loved enjoying apples, strawberries (OMG they taste so good) and chicken again... can't wait for my surgery date to get going with this weight loss!

And now I'm here , waiting to go to sleep so that I can wake up tomorrow and start a new chapter in my life ! Excited ?? Yes .. Nervous as to what to expect in the future ?? Yes ... Happy to get this band out ?? YES !!! I can't wait to see you all on the other side !

JM80TT reacted to fits_like_a_sleeve in Hungry feeling all the time!
I've had TRUE HUNGER since 3 days post op. It's very frustrating to have others tell you it's "head hunger" and there is NO WAY it could be real hunger. My dr confirmed that there is a small percentage of people who will experience hunger and appetite right away. It's unfortunate luck. But it doesn't mean you won't be successful! My hunger is easily controlled with tiny meals often. You just have to make it through liquids! Hold on tight and don't get frustrated! And if you KNOW it's true hunger like I did, don't let others make you feel crazy like I did.

VERY! But by day 3 and the pain not moving I was begging for him to do something... my parents are both nurses and they suggested it... not saying it was comfortable but the pain was worth the relief ???? Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

JM80TT got a reaction from locjewel in Question about dumping
So... I'm 9 years post - band and awaiting a surgery date for RNY - I didn't realise I had any issues apart from GERD until we did a fill under x-ray/fluro and found a massively dilated oesophagus ????, all of a sudden it was empty band, a worried surgeon and talking 'other options'.. I've never been so miserable!
Anyway I'm getting all set for the revision and I'm fine with the potential complications. .. BUT has anyone had a dumping experience at work or in public - that's my only fear...

I'll never be a 'normal' guy..
    I'd look weird...
I mean weirder than I look now as a fatty...
I'd have this gigantic, bulbous head on a skinny dudes body...
Aint nobody got time for that...
So as far as the (ridiculous) BMI goes, I'll always be obese...
    And I'm ok with that...
Coz I'll be all hot and sh*t..

Hi daisygirl10. .. when I had post surgery gas pain I had my husband pat firmly and quickly all over my back (like burping a baby but all over) it really helped move it. The pain was in my shoulder and under my ribs Sent from my SM-G900F using the BariatricPal App

JM80TT reacted to Vickie23 in 6 Months Post Op & so happy
I had surgery 6 months ago, and the first 3 months were a little difficult for me. I was nauseous, I couldn't keep food down, it was basically trial and error and to be honest very frustrating.
I am still coping from time to time, rarely but it does happen. Sometimes I try new things, I like to play it safe, but little by little I've been trying new things or eating things I was used to.
Overall I am very happy. I have lost a significant amount of weight, it's coming a long and I couldn't be happier. I have been a big person my whole life, I never knew what it was to be thin, I know that at 202 lb I am not thin, but do I feel beautiful.
This Mother's Day I wore a dress, and I felt like a new person. I have been feeling great. I have energy to clean my home, walk, I rode a bike after about 10 years. I am incredibly happy.

I turn 30 in 8 days, and I am just so excited. I feel like a breathe, I can go out and do things, I want to go out and do things. I, Victoria bought myself a black dress to wear for my 30th. I feel like a different person. I am truly happy, when I first had the surgery I was sad because I would always feel sick, I would question why I did this to myself. I also had to deal with the fact that when I was upset I was able to eat my feelings away.
Today I deal with my emotions, and eating is one of the last things on my mind. I'm so happy!!
We made a huge decision having this surgery, and I hope we all get to where we want to be!!!
