    Is my sleeve too big

Forgot to mention too, that you will also notice a difference in how full you feel when eating full-blown solid food....liquids, pureed, and even some soft foods will be in and out of your new stomach in a fairly short time.

    Is my sleeve too big

Everyone's restriction is different, and your restriction will vary too. Sometimes mine is very noticeable (so that's when I use it for the tool that it is and I listen to it), and other times it isn't as tight for me, and that's when I rely on what I've learned about portion control and making sure I limit my intake. When the nerves start firing again? Also will vary, but I would think most people by 6-12 weeks out are able to feel fullness and/or satiety. But as a rule, I try to stop eating before I'm full, and stop when I'm satisfied.

This soon after surgery, it's not unusual to not feel "full." The nerves in your stomach were cut, and the stretch receptors are going to take a bit before it starts registering in your brain again. I feel that most people who claim to feel "full" right after surgery aren't really feeling a physical fullness so much as they are just not very interested in eating, which is also totally normal after surgery. Until your nerves start picking up and sending signals again, measuring how many ounces you are eating is the best way to make sure you don't over do it.

    Hey Short Ladies!

I'm 5'2" and have had luck this time of year finding capri pants for work at JC Penney, around $30.

    Can my stomach stretch?

Funny....I was just watching some of his vids last night. I used to before surgery too, but I like that he has ones you can learn from at different stages both preop and postop

    Why will this be different?

I totally agree with the set point making this different. Also, like you said, you know what to do or you wouldn't be in this spot...I completely understand that feeling. But for me (I've gone up and down my whole life, more up than down unfortunately), it's been the combination of the mental willpower to change, as well as the physical restriction...if you use your tool, really listen to it, allow it to tell you to slow down, to stop eating, to not put whatever in your mouth...respect the tool, and it will serve you. I had my rny 6/2016, and for me, going through the preop process, and surgery, I made it such a huge deal in my mind so as to never, EVER forget what I actually was willing to put my body through...to keep it alive. Without wls, you only have your mind to tell you what to do or don't do....but when you add in your body to dictate as well....it's a powerful combo if you let it be. Makes sense too....after all, the brain and the body...they both need each other to survive. Best of luck, and I'm glad you're searching for an answer to a really good question.

Employer BCBS doesn't cover bariatric surgery

I applaud your determination in finding a way to do exactly what you knew was the right decision (and yes, a life-saving one at that), but I'm so sorry you had to take an economic hit for it. You're absolutely right, it's ridiculous and should not be legal to exclude such a scientifically proven intervention for weight loss and the comorbidities that go with it. Even more maddening that insurance companies will gladly pay for things like Viagra (sorry guys, as much as you think your life depends on it, it really doesn't), but balk at saving lives. Bad side effects

I could be wrong because this was a long time ago that I remember reading this, but I believe the more sugar you consume, the stinkier the "outcome". Your normal bacteria in your gut (the guys that keep you healtht) get as excited about sugar as a kid at a birthday party, and the sugar puts them into high gear producing....gas....stinky gas and poop. Take away their sugar, and they start behaving again. Also, if you get constipated, your waste just sits, getting more water pulled out of it and it sort of ferments...so again....stinkville. Try to remain regular too if you can. Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

    BCBS AL Insurance setback

My BCBS only required 3 months of weigh-ins, but mine is through the Fed employee coverage...I did all mine, 2/22/16, 3/21/16, and 4/22/16...no probs with approval. Am hoping you have the same outcome, best of luck! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App
  11. I do Premiere protein shakes which have whey isolate protein, and typically have no problems....until I drink them too fast....then yes, runs will come on. I just try to go slow on them, and it's all good! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

    Need help choosing procedure

@sne0104....sorry for yet another post....forgot to mention I had also had several surgeries prior to my rny (gallbladder and appendix out, and c-section delivering twins), and honestly, the adhesion pain I suffered with from my c-section almost 16 years ago....has been totally gone since my rny. Forgot to ask if my surgeon actually did some ligation of them, or if they just "relaxed" from the gas stretching my abdomen. Will see if they come back, but for now am thrilled to no longer have that pelvic pain from them. Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App

    Need help choosing procedure

FYI, If you're curious how my weight loss has been, I started out with a goal to lose about 110 lbs (I'm 5'2", HW was 236 (Feb 2016), SW was 221(June 2016). CW 157, for loss of 79 lbs from 1 year ago, and 64 lbs in 8 months since surgery. I started out dropping quickly, then after about 2 months, it tapered to about 6-8 lbs a month. Not super fast, but I'm ok with that, and still losing. I want to get to 125, but would be cool with 135 (with excess skin, I can deal with 10 lbs over goal). It is a very personal decision, so your doc is right, it is up to you (my doc was same way, put me in the driver's seat on making the decision, said she'd be happy to go with whichever I felt would be best for me). When I started out the whole thing, I was all about vsg, totally thought I'd choose that. However, after my first one-on-one meeting with my NUT, I was thinking perhaps gb was the best decision for me, reasons: I wanted the max benefit if I was going to have a wls; i already had gerd, didn't want to risk it getting worse with vsg; after years and years of losing weight and regain, i felt the gb would give me the strictest tool to lose and maintain the weight loss. It just all of a sudden clicked for me that gb was right for me, so that's what I did. Now 8 months out and absolutely NO regrets about my decision. My restrictive tool works as intended, it's allowed me to rework my relationship with food (it no longer rules my life and every waking thought), and I feel amazing. Except for the "reminders" my pouch sometimes gives me....sometimes I'd almost forget I had a surgery. And I feel very lucky in that when I had my 6 month labs checked, all my vitamin/mineral levels were totally fine (even though I'm not 100% at taking my supplements), iron was good, etc. Only thing low was my prealbumin, which can be an indicator of malnutrition....but, that's pretty much what the surgery does, prevents intake of a portion of calories and other elements. As long as I continue to feel and look great (I keep hearing tons of comments about how young and healthy I look now), I can live with a little malnutrition, lol. Best of luck with your decision, surgery, and recovery! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App
