    Post op gear

So. My surg date got moved UP to Aug 1. I really would like to know if it is allowed to wear some sort of bra post op? I hate the thought of people in my room and just letting the girls out... I know i prob wont even give a rat's behind after surgery, but for whatever reason, its been on the brain today.
  2. I am having the rny on Aug 1. 12 DAYS! My preop appts are this Friday.

    August 4th surgery date

Oh man. Looks like I go first! I go in on Aug 1. Got lucky to get my date moved up from Aug 9.
  4. I was very naughty after getting my nutrition appts over with. And my surgery ended up being pushed out 2 months because I had gained 7 pounds. And now that my surgery date is set st Aug 1, its still hard to not get out of control. I weigh myself every day to make sure that I am still at the proper weight.

    At Long Last!

Holy Cow! Surgery date moved UP to Aug 1st!!!!
  7. Started this process last November, and I finally have my surgery date. [emoji1] I am set to have a rny at the University of Iowa hospital on August 9th. My surgeon is on vacation in June...so i have a while yet to wait. But having a date makes it so much more real!! Are their any other August folks out there?
  8. Going to St Louis for a Cardinals game. Then my son takes the field for a high school game right after that. How cool to be able to watch a teenager play on a MLB field! Just hope my big rear fits in the seats...ugh.
  9. Hi Dana, my rny is on Aug 9th. Im also super nervous but also very excited! Its been a long road.

    Pre-op frustration

I know how you feel RoseyM. I thought the same thing...if I could stick to the diet, I wouldn't be in the program! Its tough, no doubt. Keep going. The first week is the worst. Be proud of your progress. It took time to put all the 'extra'on, it'll take some time to get it off too. You can do it!

What made you get a tat?

I have three butterflies on the top of my foot, one for both of my sons and one for me. Our initials are in the details of the wings. I also found a pic of a sleeping angel on a cloud, from her toes hang 2 stars, for two important people in my life that I lost too soon. This I have on my left shoulderblade. I want another, and will reward myself when I hit my healthy weight!

    Today is the day

You are doing this FOR your family AND yourself. You stand a much higher chance of leaving your baby too soon without surgery. You will come through just fine, and in a month or so you will be well on your way! Many Blessings to you today. You'll be great!

    Today is the Day!

    Good luck everyone!
  17. I may have jumped the gun. Ive gone ahead and purchased my post op vitamins. But i see that several people had troubles swallowing pills and have to use chewables. Is it because you cant take a big drink to get the pill down or is it something?

    Extremely Nervous!

I just scheduled my rny, as well as my pre and post op visits. It finally feels real, and I am quite nervous as well. But it is all going to pay off!
  19. Deep breaths! All will be well. Best of luck, keep us posted!

    How can I prepare early?

I am scheduled for August as well. I have invested in small containers for leftover food portions, a good heating pad for post op pain, but not much as far as post op food goes. I have broths, and protein shakes that I enjoy now, but everyone says that your tastes change. I hesitate to get much other that a few things for the first few days.

    At Long Last!

Thats so true. I work from home, so he and my little dog Scarlett are not used to being alone. And i would worry about them a lot. Thanks for the response!

    At Long Last!

Ooo its getting real now! The University just called to schedule pre op appts!!! Maybe this is a weird question but I have a very attached Springer Spaniel, Clyde. I wonder if it would be a smart idea to kennel him for the first couple days home? I am a bit afraid of being accidentally jumped up on. He is the kind of dog that is very intuitive, he will know I dont feel well. But after a couple days in the hospital he will be very excited that i am home. My teenaged sons will be there to help me with eveything, but it might be easier to kennel him?
