    Barium Swallow After Surgery

I had it. And it was horrible for me. The tech said I needed to drink the 4oz of liquid pretty quick but after just having surgery and only drinking 1/2 oz at a time, it hurt. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Soup?

I'm 6 months post op - but still soup is a weird one for me! It's just the whole concept of soup. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Soup?

It has been ingrained into our heads since surgery not to eat and drink at the same time and to wait 30 minutes after eating to drink - well.... Soup??? To eat soup is to eat AND drink at the same time. So, do you guys stay away from soup in general or do you just drink the broth first and then eat the "chunks" (if applicable) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Glad to hear positives about Dr Houseworth! I'm getting sleeved by him next week, Nov. 3. I was a little nervous that he didn't require preop diet, but sounds like everyone has done just fine! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App I was wondering about a preop diet too. How quickly after your approval were you scheduled for surgery? I have to wait until he's back next week before I get my date. Good luck to you!!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App I was approved on Oct.10th, their earliest date was Oct. 25th, but I couldn't do that so I took Nov.3. I know the waiting is hard! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App So very hard!!! I really appreciate your posts. Please let me know how things go for you. This is very exciting Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App I had Dr. Houseworth too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Oh yay! Care to share your experience!?! Preop diet? How surgery went? I'm open to anything at this point! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App I'm 5 months post op right now. Surgery was May 23, 2016. I wasn't required to do any pre op diets. I did have to do 4 months of nutritional counseling, lab work, and various physical exams. I've lost 101 pounds so far. It's been good! I've had no issues except my gallbladder needed to be taken out 2 months after my WLS. Dr. Houseworth is great, but honestly I don't interact with him much. I'll see him for my 6 month checkup, but other than that, I've only seen him 3 times. 2 for prep op and then on the day of surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Conflicting info!

I just want to thank all of you for commenting. I took everyone's suggestions to heart: I added more Protein, increased my Water, and reduced my carb intake even more. And, I'm happy to say, I stepped on the scale this morning and lost 2.4 lbs! You don't know how awesome it was to see the scale move after a month of NOTHING. For the last two days I've been eating no more than 20g of carbs a day, and honestly, I think that's what did it. But everything you guys suggested was so helpful! Hopefully the numbers continue to go down Thanks again!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gallbladder removal pain

I had pain for a month after my gallbladder removed too. It was from an internal suture pulling on my muscles. Once that suture popped, I was in no more pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thank you for the kind worlds. I did lose most of my weight in the first 2 months. I understand stalls are normal, but such a long one is playing games with my head. Hopefully it'll break soon... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    To many stalls

I'm just like you. I'm 4 months post op and currently on a 1 month stall. I actually posted something very similar the other day This week I've been working on upping my Protein and Water... hopefully soon I'll see some weight loss. But I understand how frustrating it is. When we take such an extreme measure to lose weight and all of a sudden the loss stops, it's horribly disheartening. I've been depressed quite a bit, but I keep praying it will pick up again soon. Stay strong, sister! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I do exercise. I strength train 3x a week for 30 minutes and cardio for 20 minutes a day. My carb intake never exceeds 40 grams, but I never get that much in. My diet consists of pretty much all Protein. Yes, I know that the VSG is just a tool, but working out and eating 900 calories a day should yield a weight loss. If I didn't have the surgery and was eating and exercising like this, I would lose weight. So the frustrating part is why not now? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That's what I tried today. I had a piece of toast this morning and some potatoes with dinner. I'm afraid to gain, but hopefully it will do the opposite and trigger some weight loss again. Anyone have any idea of how long it typically takes to see a change? Like a day or two? A week? Two weeks? Thank you all for your responses, it really does help to have a great community who has been through it all! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
