3 months Post Op .... Hair Loss

I have noticed more hair coming out lately, I was hoping to avoid this phase as well. As long as I don't get patchy, I'll be okay. 😨

    What are you guys eating???

I am with you on this! I always wonder how people get their frozen leftovers to taste better? Piping hot and fresh is the way to go.

    Setting myself up for failure?

This is a great question. We all have different reasons for getting as heavy as we did. Everybody seems to have a different idea of what brings long term effective weight loss. Some are successful, some not. I don't want to be on a restrictive lifetime diet. For me, the sleeve is an opportunity to work on different ways to deal with stress and make healthier choices on a daily basis.
  5. Pretty sure I had a gallstone pass last night. We had chicken fried steak for dinner. Saturday is my cheat day and hubby cooks them once in a great while.

A little while after eating I got this pain in the middle of my chest. It continued to get worse, no matter what I did. I got nauseous, sweaty, and the pain spread to my back. I wanted to die. Then all of a sudden the pain just stopped. I am terrified of that feeling coming back.

  6. Tipping is a big part of Mexican culture. If you are further down from the U.S. border, tip in pesos. We gave the equivalent of $1-2 U.S. for dining, drinks, cleaning lady, valet etc.
  7. I didn't weigh myself for the first week. Now that I am a few months out I notice a pattern, stall for 2-3 weeks, then a decent loss. Don't stress, it will come off.

  12. Captain's Log - Day 119:

My scale just told me I have lost a total of 50 lbs. today! I am only 12 pounds away from being under 200. 😁

Congrats! You and I have similar stats - I've also lost 50 pounds post-up and I'm waiting for 10 more to drop so I can hit 199! I can't wait - hopefully for both us it will arrive sooner rather than later.

    Self pay/loan

First I would make sure that your score has gone up before you apply for credit. Credit Karma gives you a free score monthly. Next, I would go to Mexico, for literally half of the cost. I paid $5000 plus flight.
  16. I felt the same shortly after I had VSG. I was also still hungry and craving sweets after surgery. I didn't feel much restriction, I thought maybe my sleeve was too big. I am almost 4 months post op, and am about to hit the 50 lb mark. I have no problem eating any foods: tough meat, salad, popcorn etc. you will feel restriction when you try cottage cheese or refried beans. Another tip is to imagine the food you are eating smashed in a blender. Carbs are usually soft and you can fit more, that's why dense protein gives you the best bang for your buck.
  17. I read something yesterday that really stood out to me... If you can't eat it responsibly, then don't have it in your home. I think this is great advice. You should have a veggie tray and some already cooked chicken breast in the fridge for quick snacks. My MIL cooked a whole turkey and brought it over when I had my first, I thought it was the weirdest thing 😕 But all I ate for the first three days home was that 🦃. I was glad to have it handy.

    January 2017 Sleevers!

You are killing it Denise! I am currently at 217. Which is basically the weight I would usually see and start dieting to get closer to the 200's, my "comfort zone". I can eat anything now and am trying to go with the everything in moderation approach. Good luck to everybody!
  19. You did this for you, forget about what other people think. Weight is a touchy subject, some people might not want to hurt your feelings. I haven't gotten many comments either. I generally feel awkward when someone wants to talk about my weight, even if it's a stranger making a comment while handing my drivers license back. Just weird... 😶

    Incision question

I would clean it with hydrogen peroxide and put some triple antibiotic on it for a few days. If you get any pus, I would go back to doc.

    Blew it this week

I moved across the country this past week and I am noticing my desire to use food for comfort is really strong. I ordered a full burger meal for lunch on the second day of the trip, I ended up eating most of the patty and 2 fries. I felt silly after, what a waste. Theses cravings are hard to deal with sometimes, but that's the beauty of the sleeve, it's much easier to get back on the wagon. 😀
  22. I eat every 2-3 hours and I always wait 30 min after a meal. I bring a large 32 oz cup to work and drink all day until right before a meal. I refill the cup at home and finish it after dinner.
  23. I was feeling sorry for myself because I've been up and down the same pound for a week. I did my measurements yesterday and when I look at the overall progress 3 months out, it makes me happy. I will get there, this isn't a quick fix. 😉
