  1. I think if you use alittle warm Water first with the powder it gets blended better. Then add some ice, cold water I'm not allowed the fruit in it yet myself. I start my pre-op diet on the 5th, have a ton of appointments on the 6th, surgery on the 19th. I'm getting more nervous as it gets closer. I joined a closed fb group called - Sept going down. For anyone having WLS in Sept. Check into it. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

    Any Sept. surgeries?

I'm September 19th as well. I live in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Someone did start a fb group for September surgeries already but I didn't write the link down. My liquid diet starts on the 5th. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
  6. I have the jitters also. My surgery is the 19th. It's not something to take lightly. It's major surgery. But I guess the risks of being overweight at this point are higher than the risks of surgery. Also it's really not a good idea to go out and eat everything you think you'll be missing out on after. I know it's tempting though. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

    What do you eat?

I have surgery on the 19th of September. I was told that for the first 3 - 4 weeks after surgery to mostly concentrate on getting my Protein in (shakes) and staying hydrated. Can have sugar free Jello, pudding, sugar-free frozen Popsicles, applesauce. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

Hello. My surgery is September 19th. Also gastric bypass. I start my pre-op diet on the 5th. My surgeon allows for 2 Protein shakes daily, 1 lean cuisine or similar food, 2 Snacks per day (string cheese, Greek yogurt). Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

I have 13 grandchildren and I also want to be in better shape physically to be able to enjoy my time with them. Our surgeries will be pretty close together! Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
  12. I start my 2 wks pre surgery diet Sept 5th. I've cut out all sweets (my big downfall has always been my sweet tooth!) and am down to very little caffeine already. I would normally have alot of coffee with sugar & cream in the mornings. Now I have a cup with splenda & cream and then a cup black. Also was a huge diet pepsi drinker and am trying to just drink Water. At the most I'm having 1 can of soda a day now. Ik the 2 wks thing will be difficult but I'll stick to it. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he patiently answered all my questions. He seems very nice. My surgery is Sept 19th. I have been working on this all summer and am both scared and excited. Stomach feels "backed up"

I haven't had my surgery yet (Sept 19th) but I was told not to worry about eatting for 3-4 wks after surgery. Just stay hydrated with Water and drink the Protein shakes. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
  15. Aren't you on a 2-wk pre-surgery diet? You seem to be drinking way too much Protein and you said you were going to add more fruits & vegetables? I'm going to be starting my 2 wks liver shrinking diet soon and was told 2 shakes per day with 1 lean cuisine for supper. Just curious? Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

    Today. Was. Rough.

I am still 4 wks pre-surgery and I'm just blown away that at 11 days post-op you even feel like cooking for your husband and going out to the movies! Really encouraging! Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

    Regards to what I need

Hi. I also am having gastric bypass surgery on September 19th. I was told for the 2 wks before to have a Protein Shake 2×daily and a lean cuisine or similar for supper. I'm sure every surgeon is different as to what they order. After surgery I'm sure maybe 2oz of a shake at a time would be about it if we're lucky. I've bought some things ahead but I'm not going to buy too much because what if you buy a certain kind and then can't tolerate it??? And then have to switch to a different brand. I've heard of that happening. Wish you luck. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
  18. I loved reading your post! I also am older than alot of people getting gastric bypass surgery, 61. My surgeon also encouraged me to have this surgery both because you tend to lose more weight and also because they have alot more long-term data on the outcomes. It's the bariatric surgery that's been around the longest. My surgery date is out there aways - September 19th. I'm wringing my hands as well. But the health benefits outweigh my misgivings by far. I am sure you'll do fine. Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App

I am 61. My insurance just approved gastric bypass surgery for me a week ago. Have not been given a date as of yet. I've completed all appointments & lost alittle weight like my doctor wanted me to. I'm feeling very anxious about if I'm doing the right thing or not by having surgery. My children (all adults) very much want me to do the surgery in the hope it will help with other medical problems I now have like high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, etc. I'm just concerned about complications from surgery & getting along alone afterwards. Also used food because I get bored alot by myself. Am I too old do others think??? Sent from my SM-N915V using the BariatricPal App
