Water water water....walk walk walk. Thats all i can say right now because everyones dr has them doing something different. I had surgery 11 days ago and im here to say my dr walked with me the entire process. From the 3 days i spent in the hospital, where as ive heard so many people being sent home the very next day or their dr didnt do another upper gi to make sure their pouch wasnt leaking. Good luck honey. Lmk whats going on Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Weight stall

Wth? Your surgeon has seen u 1, and good luck? Girl, im 10 post op and my dr is the greatest. Ive heard so many people went home day after surgery, my dr, 1st day of surgery it was nothing by mouth, 2nd day, they took me to xray to do another upper gi to make sure no leakage, once he reviewed those, they bought me my 1st tray of liquids which consisted of 1oz med cups. You had to drink 1 of those every 15mins to get your fluids in and you still had the iv in. Got up to walk the evening of surgery and everytime i could. Day 2 they took the folly out so u could use the bathroom on your own. Day 3, it went to cream of wheat, Jello, pudding, juice.....day 4 home if youve tolerated everything so far. Gives you his cell phone number if theres any concerns, pains, or not keeping fluids down so that he can call over to the hospital to get a chair ready for you a iv. His entire office staff is just like that. They see you every 3wks to change you into each phase and weight check. Then it will go to every 3 months then every 6 months, then once a year. I cant think of anyone else id rather had my surgery with. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Peer Surgery Diet

At least your pre diet plan included 1 meal. I had to do 14 days of liquids, Water and 3 Protein shakes per day. Thats it. But when i did get hungry, i drank some chicken broth. If i just had to have something, i ate some popcorn. I still lost 18lbs. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    What should I pack?

I was up walking to but did they not do a upper gi to make sure there was no leakage.? I dont care what anybody else say, im glad my dr took his time and make sure everything was tolerated. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    What should I pack?

That's very true. I am always on my phone. Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App 1 day? See, i dont like the fact that for the same surgery, so many drs have so many different rules. My surgery was last tuesday at 7am. They repaired a small hernia while in there but his schedule was 1st day surgery, iv fluids only, and lots of walking. 2nd day morning upper gi to make sure sleeve didnt leak, and i was then given 1oz cups of Water all day, lots of walking. 3rd day introduced juice, Jello plenty of walking. Home the next morning. And i appreciated the fact that he takes the time to introduce each step to make sure hes not sending you home to figure it out. Hell, 1 day may as well be a outpatient surgery. Youre not even taking anything by mouth the 1st day to make sure theres no leakage. But ok. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    Need Encouragement!

I was like you, and needed to be talked off the cliff, but im 1 week post op and ive achieved every obstacle that i came across over this 6 month process. The day after surgery for me wasnt bad and i was up and running 2 hrs after and i havent set down since. Ive had 3 csections so having to get up after that type of surgery wasnt uncommon for me.Getting my Protein in this week has been little to none. Ive been really tired and nausea but i just found this bone broth Protein powder to add in everything so maybe that will help me. I got the tasteless flavor so i can add it in food and everything so once im cleared fkr food, i hope to be able to get it done. Good luck Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    drinking protein shakes after surgery..?

Gordita81 im on the app also and i didnt see any of that. But regardless nobody still shouldnt be telling someone what they shouldnt be doing. Maybe she has other health issues. Im sure that a bariatric surgeon wouldnt just be handing out Weight-Loss surgeries. And plus she has to see mental health so maybe she wont even get past that if she just binge eating. Anyways, good luck with everything. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

  12. @@lehana and @@harmonylynn WELCOME HOME..... Thats what this sight feels like to me and ive only been on here maybe 3 months. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Great advice and yes, the support groups are great at the hospital but who do you call at midnight when you wanna go binge on the leftover pizza that the kids had while you had a salad....lol. ME, im always awake. Im a mother of 3 sets, yes 3 sets of twins and theyre all grown and gone their own ways now. Giving me grandbabies and i have to do alot of trqveling to see them all because most are military. I went through this process alone with help here but im 1 week post op and hunnies, the knee pains, and the right 1 needs total replacement, is really gone. Hw 298 Sw 264 Cw 232 Gw 160-170 Im 5'7. Just take it slow and take this process to learn and ask questions. Start practicing now on these tools that you'll have to live with. Stop drinking 30 before and after meals, small sips of Water. 64oz at least daily fluids, 80gm of Protein. Its alot and it was a mindblowing sight the day after surgery when you have nothing by mouth, and the next morning they took me to xray to make sure i had no leak and once thats done, they brought in these little 1oz medicine cups for you to drink water out of. You have to sip all day. You'll hear alot of things that help each 1 of us, but i tried following my dr and nutrition info so that i wouldnt get into any bad habits. What works for me may not work for yall. So if i tell you i can only get my fluids in by drinking with a straw. The dr will tell you that a straw is a no no. Will add air into your stomach. But maybe it doesn't affect me but i dont wanna tell you something thats gking to give you awful gas pains. Trial and error some things are. But take the time to just get everything they tell you in. My weigh in ...

You know this is not a 3 month process if youre going through insurance right @@mindi melissa. If youre paying out of pocket it maybe a little faster but any great bariatric surgeon is going to make sure you go through the nutritionist and other test which is about a 6 month process. My weigh in ...

@, great advice. @@mindi melissa, i just went through the 6 month process so im fresh to the losers bench. 1 wk post op. My weight has always been 145 because i was a flight attendant for 18yrs. 5yrs ago they dignoised me with progressive ms and every single medication they put me on had steriods in them. I went into a deep depression because its like overnight i blew up to 290lbs. Double knee surgery, back surgery, more drugs, more pain, pain, pain, weight, weight weight. I refused to stay that heavy. I went from a full B cup to a 52DDD. The weight of those babies made me have to have neck surgery. So my pcp suggested the sleeve surgery. I was asked to lose 15-30lbs. I started at planet fitness with a trainer, and the 1st 2 months i lost 2 -3 lbs and i was depressed. But my father told me the samething. DO NOT SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE. So i set my goal for 5lbs a month, and if i lost more, i was over the moon but if i just made it or just did 4lbs, i wasnt so upset. I walked even through the knee pain, and i stuck to my 2500 calories per day. My problem was the medicines so i weened myself off of all of them against drs approval. I didnt care. Yes, im in pain, but the pain was way more with the weight. I know this is reading like a freaking book but i just wanna be there for you girl. Stick with your bariatric pal counter app, journal everyday so you can see where you need to back off or add. Water WATER WATER. My problem we found out through the journaling was that i wasnt eating enough to burn the calories so i literally was eating all day it seemed like it. 6 small meals a day. 3 meals and 3 Snacks. High Protein. I ended up losing 33lbs. You dont wanna lose to much. Some insurance look and say if she lost 50lbs by herself she can lose another 50lb. So the 15-30 was achievable. 50lbs in 6months is going to be hard, and you wanna be ready once youve finished all your other tests so they can get your info to the insurance for approval. The 14 day fast wasnt as hard as i thought it was going to be. And now 1 wk post op is great. Hw 298 Sw 264 Cw232 Gw 150. That goal weight is my bmi, but i really dont want to get that small again. I think id be happy at a perfect size 8-10, not 5. Im 51 and a mother of 3 sets of twins thats grown and giving me grandbabies. I just like alittle curves. Found new protein.....

I ordered the pure. It has no taste so i basically wanted it to add in other things to get the extra Protein. Now i was doing infusions for my chronic fatigue syndrome, ms, and my arthritis. But it didnt help but for a couple of days. I read where tumeric in the natural root or the Vitamin helps so i started with the vitamin, and thats all ive had now in 6 months. Im only 1 week post op and i no longer need that total replacement that i was looking at in april. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  17. I have read all books, watched videos before i jumped into this. I woke up the night after surgery and this info commercial was on for this new Protein powder. While i was on my fast, the broth i drunk was bone broth. It was so good, it tasted like i had made it from scratch and not high in sodium. Anyways, this brand was on, its new. 20g of protein and it come in 4different flavors. Im trying the pure now. You canjust add it in whatever youre cooking, drinking, whatever. The pure is tasteless so i can just add it in my scrambled eggs. Hopefully tomorrow, he'll tell me i can eat something with some texture.....lol. ive never been so happy to get to eat some eggs. On Monday, i felt like i was at a stall because i hadnt lost anything. But yesterday, i passed by the mirror and omg,my stomach has just disappeared....lol. It was my own mirror and i was touching it like it was a trick mirror. Question???? Has anyone spouse left because they didnt want you to lose weight? I don't understand anyone that wouldnt want someone they love to be healthy. Anyways,I'm not sure how im feeling about my weight loss because im feeling very sluggish and tired. I cant get my protein in. Im not dyhrated, im sipping Water all day but its the Protein shakes i cant get down without them coming back up. And since im not at the stage where i can do scrambled eggs or nothing yet, what else can i do other than this bone broth? But i can only take like 4 sips before im cramping on the left side. Whats with the pain on the left side? It feels like my stomach is to tight..if that makes since. 2, 3 sips and im full. Will that change? Thanks so much......goodnight Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

Yes, my dr prescribed pepcid for me. Its not the over the counter. But idk the difference because idk the mg of the over the counter 1's. Zantex 150 is what i was using before the surgery lastweek. But i really havent had any heartburn i guess because i havent had anything to eat. Im still in the full liquid stage. I see him tomorrow for my follow up but each stage for him is 3wks. Im dying for some tuna fish with eggs.
