  1. When I was in pre-op I had to strip naked and they supplied me with three packages of antibacterial wipes that I had to wipe EVERY inch of my body with ... and it was sticky! Additionally, then naked with a gown and padded socks on feet. They told me they were giving me something to relax me in my IV while pushing me in the bed down the hall, but I blacked out. Never saw Operation Room. Never moved from bed to operating table. And yes. Woke up with a different colored gown on in recovery. Just a warning, ask relatives how anesthesia worked on them if you've never had it. I ended up staying 3 extra days bc I was so nauseous I couldn't drink, so I couldn't leave without IV (no use in becoming dehydrated at home and then returning to hospital for that). I was so grateful that they kept me there! I had no physical pain really ... a little soreness on the incisions, a little gas in shoulders. The nausea was the worst part of my whole recovery process. I barely used pain pump in hospital and didn't take any pain meds at home. You'll do great. Surgery is the easy part! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  4. Hi all - I was sleeved on 10/17. I stayed until 10/20 due to extreme nausea. I went into surgery at 251 pounds, gained a few pounds from IVs in hospital. I've lost 6.8 pounds since surgery (16 days ago), 0.8 in this past week. I actually gained 1.4 pounds (included in the 6.8 total pound weight loss equation) in the past 2 days. - I walk over 2 miles everyday. - I had my period when I came home from surgery, so I'm assuming it's not womanly hormones effecting my weight loss. - I'm within my Protein range of 60-75g of protein. - I drank 11 cups of approved fluids one day, and 10 cups the other day. - I ate 13 carbs one day, 21 the next. - I've had 30 grams of fat, and 6 grams of Fiber. Are these the culprit? I lost more weight each week before surgery drinking fluids all day, with no food. 4.16 pounds a week average, totaling 25 pounds in 6 weeks. I'm whining and complaining! I read this book about the sleeve from Dr. Duc Vuong and he states there is no such thing as a weight loss plateau - it just means you're not doing something right (after ruling out hormonal or medical issues) - either not exercising or eating slider foods / empty calories. My daily diet consists of Protein shakes, one hard boiled egg, 1-2 oz. of canned tuna, no more than a tbsp. of mayo, and cauliflower. I started a new job on Monday, but I'm not stressed out from it! Please make me feel better and advise me when my weight loss efforts are going to start working! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sweaty mess

I'm always hot, too ... but I have been for a while. I live in Orlando, so imagine what it's like to go grocery shopping in the air conditioning and sweating in the aisles ... so ... I sleep with a fan blowing on me, and I did that in negative degree weather when I lived in NH ... Again, it's probably just hormones releasing and your body adjusting to it. 7. Hello - So my body/stomach will feel like it's contracting for 1-5 seconds quite often (several times an hour) that is painful (but quick). I don't feel like something is necessarily wrong ... but just seeing if anyone can relate? It happens more often after drinking something. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liquids

I pretty much don't drink Water without them - but not the tea kind. I use Walmart's Great Value brands such as "orange, strawberry, banana" and "cherry limeade" - they're my favs but they have Plenty of flavor to choose from. I buy the large packets, and mix 1/5-1/4 package per 24 oz. water. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I feel like I've read people posting that gum can't be chewed during liquid diet. I wasn't told that by my surgeon. Why would you not be allowed to chew gum? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My weigh in ...

Best wishes @@mindi melissa. I will pray for your success. What I have learned through life experience, it is FANTASTIC to set goals. But when I set goals that are too high, I fail and end up depressed from my failure. I have taught myself to make high achievable goals, and then I can rejoice if I exceed them. My most recent example is that I desired to lose 20lbs a month after surgery - every month. I now have realized through this process of research during pre-surgery, I should set my goal at 10 lbs. I don't want to get depressed and sabotage my weight loss journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    My weigh in ...

40 lbs in 6 weeks doesn't seem very healthy to me. But, you have to burn more calories than you eat so ... take it from there. I lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks doing all liquids. Protein drinks less than 6 grams carbs and 3-4 a day. Exercise, exercise, exercise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
