    STALLS

Great post! Just what I needed to remind myself! Thanks for sharing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Straws

I'm almost 7 months post op and have been using a straw since probably 2 months post op. No issues, my surgeon is ok with it. I get in a lot more fluids using a straw. Just my experience. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Vegas, regrets and a NSV

I know it's frustrating! Everyone stalls! Everyone heals and moves and different paces. Don't beat yourself up! You may be feeling better but your stomach is miles still swollen inside and will be for probably two more at least. It will get better.. I promise. When your swelling is gone you'll notice the difference in how much and what you can eat. Likewise, the stall is actually because you aren't eating enough calories. I did the same, and Doctor said if I was getting too few (under 900) my body was storing the fat. Makes sense! Stay positive, you got this! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    What to look forward to

Oh there's so many! I'd second all of these! Mostly, as a woman, crossing my legs, fitting in a stadium seat (or any seat) better, not getting so winded so easily, and....sex! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Everyone is different I suppose. I did well with mashed potatoes (which was allowed during soft foods stage) I also love and do well with eggs. Great protein! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. You all look so great!! Keep it up! I'm 4 months out and down 60lbs myself! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. @@adurrette89, that's just crazy! I don't think anyone should lose that much that fast. You're doing great! My Dr said from day one their expectations were 1-2 lbs per week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. Agree, if you're not getting enough calories, your body is storing the fat and often why you'll stall. Best recommendation, don't weigh yourself daily. It'll drive you nuts! I limit myself to once a week and can see real results then and I'm less stressed about how I'm doing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stomach stretching

Agreed a lot depends on the types of food you eat, but also where you are in recovery. As you heal, the swelling in your stomach goes down and you feel as you can "fit" more. At about 8 weeks the swelling should be gone and you'll get a true sense of what your restrictions are. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    salad

I've done well and (love salads) always with a Protein though! Everyone is different, won't know until you try! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. You're pretty standard for 2 weeks out, in the next 2 weeks you'll start to feel as though you can take in a little more. I had hit a stall and my Dr said it was because I was taking in less than 900 calories still. 900-1200 per day is where I should be at now and it definitely makes a difference. Good luck to you! Really Regretting it.

It's completely normal to feel that way! I'd venture to say most of us did. Everyone heals at different rates but eventually you will begin to feel better! It will all start to fall into place and you'll be glad you did it. Don't hesitate to call your doctor during this time too! Best of luck, and stay positive! This forum is a great help also! We've all been there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I would think (hope!) your doctor has a good reason to keep you off Protein during this stage. I've yet to hear of a doctor that did that. Protein is critical. I had to drink Water based Protein shakes.. I liked the premade Atkins ones for convenience and they tasted better than most (some flavors) That's how I survived the clear liquid stage. I still never want to look at Jello or broth again!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. @@juneau My surgeon and team suggest 3 meals and 2 Snacks in between as needed. They suggest 90grams Protein a day for female, 60 for males. You need the protein to be successful. Also, recommended to wait 30 minutes between eating and drinking which I have found works well for me. I too had problems in beginning trying to figure out how to get enough fluids in. Also not to rely on protein shakes, just occasionally. They prefer getting your nutrients from whole foods as much as possible. Good luck to you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pain

It is normal, there's a deeper stitch there. It lasted a couple weeks but gradually got better. sleeping was the hardest for me.. I basically slept in a recliner so I wouldnt toss and turn because movement while laying down hurt so bad. I only used my stronger pain meds first few days and switched to Tylenol. I imagine ice and heating pad might help though I didn't use it. Just limit your movement and don't lift anything heavy, let it heal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Bites

Definitely depends on what you're eating. Also keep in mind your stomach is still swollen and as swelling goes down you will begin to feel like you can take in more. The time frame will vary person to person. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Tail bone pain

Great feed here. I am 3.5 months post op, down 58lbs and I too am dealing with ass pain! I've also notice some lower back pain come back and stick around longer than usual. All part of it I guess! This really helped me wrap my head around it though, need to keep moving and exercising! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I'm 5 weeks post op now, and I cannot tolerate the chewable Vitamins. I'm looking for peoples favorite pill form mulitivitamins (preferably with iron), and Calcium with Vitamin D. Some of the ones I've seen are SO expensive compared to others. Others are huge and some not so big. Thanks in advance!
  21. I'm 3 weeks post op, and on soft solid foods. I've been trying hard to follow the recommended food options, but need to branch out. Any suggestions? My post surgery booklet says I can eat soft baked fish now, but tuna doesn't come into play until week 5. Anyone know why that is? I would think tuna is a soft solid? Getting burnt out on Soups, mashed potatoes, and eggs. Recommendations appreciated!

    Pain

I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I had a lot of concern with the pain of the lower/bigger incisions. My Dr. said it as normal, and that bigger incision is where they stretch to pull out your stomach and where they put a deep stitch in. It was about 2 weeks before it really subsided. Now there's barely any pain, and even find myself turning on my stomach in my sleep with no discomfort. There's hope! It's normal!

    As of today?

I am 3 weeks post op, have lost 18lbs. I lost 15lbs just before surgery just from the pre op diet. Not easy, not going to lie, but getting better each day. I know it was the right choice for me!
  24. I was concerned about this also. I am 3 weeks post op now and it is getting easier to drink my fluids. Just takes some time. My Dr. said to remember that all the fluids your eating/drinking during the first couple weeks count. Its not just a Water goal. So 64 oz is the goal, but your jello/broth/popsicles/protein shakes etc. all count.
