  1. I'm 24 days post op (sleeve) and in the past week I've started having the worst hip pain at night. If I sleep on my side, that hip will be excruciatingly painful in the morning. Anyone else experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I keep seeing so many responses that just say 'ask your nutritionist'. Does that mean everyone has a nutritionist? Because I don't. I was self pay and insurance won't pay for anything related to weight loss, even nutritional counseling. I did one appointment a couple weeks before surgery to go over the basics, and I have a binder of nutritional information, but that's it. I am now finding that I have many questions, and am thinking I may just need to suck it up and pay out of pocket for at least one more appointment. So tell me, how often do you see yours? What kind of things do they help you with? Any tips on what to look for to find a good one? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'd love to hear from some of you who stopped needing CPAP after your weight loss. Did you just stop on your own or did you do another sleep study first? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No More CPAP?

Thanks for the replies! I'm thinking I might already be able to give it up. I'm surprised to think this already, at only 7 weeks post op and 36 pounds down. Sounds like others saw a change early on too though, so I think it's time to talk to my doc about it. Yay!!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I'm almost 7 weeks post op and am happy to say that vacation is going well! I was worried that it would be difficult to manage fluids, Proteins, and Vitamins, but no problems yet! I successfully navigated a large family reunion and a dinner out, while still keeping to plan. I did eat one new thing today - chili made with ground buffalo meat. It was tasty but very spicy! It's the spiciest thing I've eaten since surgery, and I'm happy to say my body still tolerates spicy food. Anyway, here are a few things I did that helped me stick to plan: 1. Packing for vacation included packing food, drinks, and vitamins. I brought a small cooler with foods I can eat, just in case. I also brought several bottles of Water and some crystal light. 2. I write down everything I eat. That's hard to do on vacation days, or really on any busy days. I have started using my iPhone to help with this process. For example, I tell Siri to set a reminder that I ate a deviled egg. Or drank 8oz of water. Later, back at the hotel, I was able to look through my reminders and make sure I had written down everything in my food log. 3. I carried a small container of my necessary vitamins in my purse. They were easily accessible, so I didn't forget any despite the full chaotic day. 4. I started the day with a Premier Protein drink (30g protein), just in case I forgot to eat enough protein throughout the day. How weird it is that I now sometimes forget to eat! That's all. Mostly feeling happy that my sleeve and I can manage vacations just fine. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low carb products

Okay, I'm more than meeting my Protein and Fluid requirements and will be starting to transition off the soft food stage. I know to avoid bread, Pasta, and other high carb foods. But, I'm curious about alternatives. What's your take on things like low carb tortillas? Is low carb pasta a thing? What's your favorite noodle alternative? And do you think it's a slippery slope, so it's just best to avoid these products? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Not yet, but I'm anticipating it from my mother in law next time we go visit. Worst food pusher I've ever met! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Does anyone own a Fitbit?

I recently got a Fitbit charge and I really like it. I love that it also tracks my sleep and how much awake and restless time I have during the night. I'm really trying to improve my sleep habits, so that's a nice feature for me. I also like the app, and that's where I track all of my steps, Fluid, and food. 9. Not really. I've never actually drank one, even before surgery. I do, however, really need some advice on my low energy level. Most of the time, I am just so exhausted and I feel like I'm failing at so many things at the moment. I keep forgetting to do things, I've dropped the ball and let people down several times this week, I'm grumpy and irritable with my kids, and I really want to sleep. Like a lot. I'm only 6 weeks post op, so I know my body is still recovering. I've mostly been happy since surgery, with no regrets, although part of me is now regretting doing this right before the kids started summer break. They're driving me crazy. I regularly exceed both my Fluid and Protein goals, and I take the required Vitamins. My daily average is about 65oz of fluids, 75g of protein, and 900 calories. I haven't had any significant problems since surgery, just this lack of energy. And it feels like it's gotten worse this week. My husband says not to worry about it so much and to cut myself some slack. He suggests it's probably due to the heat, even though I'm mostly staying in the air conditioned house. Perhaps this is completely normal, but I think I'm just needing to vent and could use a little support and advice. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. I just went to Vitamin Cottage to pick up a few things to try, and I got some B12 while there. I find Vitamins to be very confusing. There are so many different brands and concentrations and combinations. There was B12 with Folic Acid, and B12 without. pills and liquids and dissolvable. And apparently even different kinds of B12. Here is the one I chose. Any reason I should have chosen a different option? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. You know, I haven't had any caffeine in over two months. Except maybe a glass of iced tea on rare occasions. I'm definitely not a caffeine junkie. Maybe I should be! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the recommendations. I'm going to add b12 to my daily routine and give it another week or two. If it's still a problem then, 2 months post op, I'll definitely get in to see my doc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. No, not on any blood pressure meds. It was quite low at my last appointment though, and I'm lightheaded and faint every time I stand. Maybe it's worth revisiting with my doctor. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I still can't tolerate milk, but I'm only 6 weeks out. Other dairy products haven't been a problem, just milk. I can deal with that, even if it never gets better. As long as I can eat cheese. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

"This was the best thing I ever did"

I'm 6 weeks post op and have not had any regrets! The first week was tough, but I just kept reminding myself of all the benefits. I'm down 30 pounds, my feet already hurt a little less, and I started back to the gym this week. I have so much hope and excitement about the future. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Ha! It's true. I'm almost 6 weeks post op and have been considering trying a yoga class. Seems like a nice low impact way to ease into a fitness routine. Well, I found a toddler yoga dvd at a garage sale and did it at home tonight with my 5 year old. The squatting poses hurt my knees, my top heavy body kept tipping over in balance poses, and twisty stretchy poses pulled on my incisions and hurt. I think I'll practice this a bit more at home before attempting in a public place... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Toddler Yoga Kicked My Butt

This sounds like me. I've always been flexible and can even still do the splits. I'm currently fat, flexible, and wobbly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Toddler Yoga Kicked My Butt

Now that's the kind of yoga class I need to find! Fortunately my gym offers all levels. There's even a chair yoga class for those with limited mobility. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Toddler Yoga Kicked My Butt

I think a waterfall sounds like a wonderful place for yoga! We don't have many around here (it's dry in Colorado), but I do have a Wii fit. It's been collecting dust for a couple of years, but maybe it's time to clean it off and give it a try. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Back in my boat!

That looks wonderful! I would love to get a kayak and paddle around some lakes here. For now, it's top of my list for what I plan to do on our upcoming Mexico vacation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What do you buy at Costco?

This morning was my first costco trip since surgery. I sampled some cheese, hummus, and veggie burger, and I was stuffed. Here are the items I bought. These will all be new to my sleeve, so I'm curious to see how it goes. - Premier Protein - mango quinoa salad - Parmesan cheese crisps - these Alaskan pollock burgers were buy one bag, get one free: - Fat Tire Beer Brats. My town is the home of New Belgium Brewery so had to get these. I'm not sure if my sleeve is ready for brats, but my husband will definitely love these. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Swollen still!?

I'm a little over 5 weeks post op and my pants are finally looser. I know I lose my belly fat last, but I was surprised by how long my stomach felt big. It was really just this past week that I started noticing a difference and felt more comfortable wearing button ups instead of baggy yoga pants. I'm still in the same size, but at least they're starting to get baggy! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Ooh, I like the taco idea. Haven't tried ground beef yet, but I can now, so that's going on the list for later this week. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
