Lactose intolerance - when did it get better?

So it seems I am now lactose intolerant after the surgery, which I knew was a possibility. For those that also had this consequence, did it eventually get better? If so, after how long?

    I still can't tolerate milk, but I'm only 6 weeks out. Other dairy products haven't been a problem, just milk. I can deal with that, even if it never gets better. As long as I can eat cheese.
