  4. Is it normal to feel a painful "ping" low in the asophagus even after swallowing only Water? I just had my third fill last wednesday. I never felt actual pain after swallowing before....only if solid food got stuck...but this "pain" is happening every single time...even after only a couple of drops of liquid. And it takes forever to "walk it off"...I hate suffering like that! I obviously have very good restriction...and I've already lost about 3 to 5 pounds (depending on time of day)....but thats cause I can hardly eat anything. Will the pain go away? What is the pain anyway?

    What's the "trick"?

:help: Hi, I got banded on Nov 18, 05. I'm short, 5'2", and started at 231 lbs. So far I've lost 23.5 lbs. I'm slow...I know, but yesterday I had my third fill....each fill was for 1 cc....so I have 1 cc left to play with in my 10cc band. The doctor said that my band will allow for only a trickle to go through now. Has anyone of you had a similar thing happen.....where you lost really slowly and then it picked up as your band was tightened to just a trickle? If your weight loss picked up only after several fills.......will you please let me know? I'll be anxiously awaiting your reply....I need to hear that there are people who were slow loosers first but then got the ball rolling. I'm kind of loosing faith and I need a boost. Help. Write with your tricks or tips or whatever...just write.

filled 14 days ago and still have trouble

I had my second fill 10 ago. I've come to the realization that if I don't chew each bite at least 30 times......I'll suffer badly. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> I hate to think of what goes on inside me once that chest pain starts....I think of things stretching, ripping, moving, slipping, eroding.......and that shakes me back to reality and makes me eat so verrryyy slowly that I grow bored with the food! <o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Its amazing how little I eat.....I often get discouraged by my food having turned cold<o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> Most of all I am terrified at each instant I swallow too soon by mistake (or because of bad old habits). When I know the bite is too big, or not chewed well enough, I just know that I’m hurting myself and I’m multiplying my chances of failure with this band.

    Looking for November 2005 Banders!

Banded on Nov 18, 05. Lost about 15.5 pounds. After the second fill, I believe the band will make me thin! Oh.....and I bought a commercial stairclimber to get my ass in gear too!
  8. I got one, pretty crappy. Maybe worth $1 from the Dollar Store.

    Amazed By The Difference!

Hi! I had my second fill two days ago. First day I didn't eat anything but a yo-baby yogurt.....because I didn't feel any hunger......and the second day wasn't any different. Now I drink milk just to give my stomach something to help it from embarrising me in public by rumbling inappropriately......but other than that.....no hunger! Is this going to last? Is this how all of you just started loosing pounds upon pounds of weight? I want to be like you.....I want to loose 10 pounds pretty much in the blink of an eye! I'm bursting with excitement! Go band! Go fills! Pump up my baloon with more saline!!!

    Hello

make sure you actually follow the advice of your doctor......go on the liquid diet about a week before surgery. It will make recovery so much easier...and teach you how to live after the surgery!
  11. Tomorrow marks three weeks since my banding. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> First week passed with little appetite...which was a great feeling......but was related only to swelling, etc. and not necessarily the band. This is where my meager weight loss probably occurred. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The second week my appetite came back.......and surprise....little restriction....the feeling of being full just isn't there.....so I'm starting to panic!<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> The third week confirms that I feel very little restriction.....I burp a lot...and sometimes if I don't chew extremely well I get the "hot potato stuck in my esophagus" feeling.....so I know the band is there....<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I was told I'd have a 2 ounce stomach after the surgery......so how is it that I can eat muuuuch more than 2 ounces? What the hell? <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Has this happened to any of you? Did it get fixed with a fill? Is it continuing for anyone? Please share! I really want to know why my band is not doing much...<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Thanks!<o:p></o:p>

    Lived through surgery...

Hey y'all Last Friday, Nov 18, Dr. Amy Martin of Commonwealth Surgical Group put in my Lap Band. I came home on Saturday. Today its Wednesday and I'm at work. I'm still in a little bit of discomfort...but with a little Percocet I actually feel like I'm going to make it. I have not been hungry, at least physically, yet. My stupid old habits make me think that I'm hungry...but I know i'm not. Looking foreword to getting thin. Drop me a line any and all of you Virginians.

    Surgery Tomorrow...Scared

Hi Everyone!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> I'm writing for the first time so bear with me. I feel like I know some of you because I've been following this web site for some time now. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I'm going under the knife first thing tomorrow morning. I'm scared. I'm scared because I have a wonderful husband and new baby boy and they mean everything in the whole world to me.....and if anything were to happen to me....well you know. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Can I ask for your prayers? I need all of you pre- and post-op's to ask God to let me slide in and out of the surgery without problems. I'll return the favor and keep all you bandsters in my prayers. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Its before noon now.....so I have about 20 hours to go. Any tips? Anything you want to suggest I do between now and when I leave my house in the morning for the hospital? Maybe I just need some minor encouragement and some pats on the back...<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Anyway.....I'm glad you guys are out there...just a click away....thinking the same thoughts about big buts, flabby arms...jelly bellies....I'm glad not to be alone in this.<o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Talk to you soon!<o:p></o:p>
  15. Hey! What horrible luck! I'm having surgery tomorrow... I thought I was prepared for everything that could possibly come up....but this is the first time I'm reading about a problem like yours. I don't know what I would do if I woke up tomorrow and I got that kind of news!!! What options did your doctor say you have?
