GinaCampbell, i just read all the posts about your WLS journey, so sorry you have to go through all this. i hope you will have a full recovery soon!!. I live in London, UK and i am also having my WLS done under the NHS. I am having my pre-op appointment on 4th Jan. After reading your story, i have to say i became quite nervous!! No one is guaranteed that everything will go perfectly for them. One thing you mentioned which i agree with you is that they do not give much information about the risks of surgery. You have to do a lot research yourself. i read (and still read) a lot before i made my decision to go for WLS and i'm in contact with people who've had the surgery done in the same hospital as i will have. I just hope and pray that this will be the best decision i will make in my life (and not, G-d forbid, the worst!!)

My mother had the sleeve a year ago. To be honest I was not super supportive at the time. After seeing how well she has done on it I am getting my sleeve on Tuesday. I regret not being more supportive at the time. Because of that the only people who know I am getting the sleeve is my mom, sister, husband and best friend. I am thankful that they are all but my sister are supportive. I also have a feeling my sister will next in line for the sleeve.
Your reasons for doing this are your own and no one needs to know.

This was such a good post for me to read! It was like several of you were inside my head! I had kept my circle of trust very tight until a coworker stalked my calendar. I thought my appointment was marked as private. [emoji849] So then came the questions and the unsolicited advice. This is the only reason I didn't want to tell my coworker's. I know I'm part of their gossip when I'm not around. But you know what? It's okay. I'm doing this for me, my children and my health. To hell with them if they think I'm making a bad choice.
