  1. Happy 64th Birthday dgnlp3022!

  2. Hi everyone, just joined today. my surgery is on Wed., Feb 20 and I'm excited! starting at 288 and hope to get to 150 by next spring. Married 36 years to a wonderful man, 2 grown kids and three grandsons. Sounds like I'm the oldest at 59!! I just couldn't be fat anymore. need to feel good again. can't wait to get back to walking and my elliptical. my knees and hips have been sore for a few years now when I walk. hope to get encouragement and help from this forum. Started at Shadyside Weight Management classes last March 2007, was approved by insurance in October 2007, last dr. appt. was Jan 28th when I finally decided to go with the Lapband. bypass seemed too radical and my family is much happier I decided to go with lapband. I'm with Dr. Courcoulas at Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh. Wish me luck!
  3. I'm in the "need-to-know" category. I've failed so many times losing and regaining+plus that I'm still worried this will be the same. my surgery is Feb. 20th and I've told immediate family and close friends. only a few know at work because I don't want the 20 questions every day! my support will come from family, friends, and forum! that's why I'm here now.
  4. Only 4 more days until my lapband surgery. Very excited now. Just discovered this forum and hoping to get support when needed. I've been reading the pros and cons in several different forums and decided to start in the Newbie area. I live East of Pittsburgh in Irwin, PA. Decided to go with Dr. Courcoulas at Magee Hospital. She's wonderfully sympathetic and a good listener. She helped me make this decision. I was at Shadyside Weight Management classes for 6 months going through the gastric bypass classes and changed my mind at my last dr. appt. Just too nervous about permanent changes in my belly. She agreed I needed to be comfortable with my decision. I feel this is my last chance at succeeding in losing a lot of weight. It's totally up to me. I don't want to die fat! I'll let you know how everything goes on Wed. GETTING DOWN TO THE NITTY GRITTY NOW! How do I add the tickerfactory to the bottom?

    Pittsburgh Banders

Hi all, just joined this forum today. My banding is on Wed. Feb 20 with Dr. Courcoulas at Magee. She's a really wonderful woman. I was signed up at Shadyside Weight Management classes for 6 months working towards a bypass. I got to my last appointment with Dr. C and just started shaking about it. She and I talked for a long time about the pros and cons of banding vs. bypass. I decided and she agreed on banding because it's NOT permanent. I feel good about that decision and hope to succeed in my goals. I'll let you Pittsburghers know how it goes next week! I can't figure out how to add the tracking info at the bottom of my message.
