Surgery in 2 weeks-- very nervous

I'm having mine 14 June. Getting very real now. I look at it as its only as good as I put into it. This is the rest of my life, not just a short term thing and it's a very big commitment. I've spent 25 years dieting to be healthier and smaller, I want the next 25 to be about living my life to its fullest. I too am being very private. I have one particular friend I know is going to judge me AND drop me when I am no longer the fat friend in the group. I just don't need people's negativity to affect my mindset. I'm nervous but excited too - but glad I've made this decision.

Really? A half ounce of chicken?

I just actually laughed out loud at this ^^
  5. Yes it is all consuming for me at the moment. I'm in New Zealand and it's a very different process here. I've had all my assessments done last month over 2 days and my date was booked. I've only been asked to lose 4kg 2 wks pre op but already lost 18kg. Very excited!
  6. I know what you mean about emotions. I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago and this week I felt like it was pms all over again. I cried in boxing Class I was so emotional. Just 3 weeks to go and eating just protein and veges already has caught up. At least there's no surprises post surgery huh? ????

    June surgery

My RNY is June 14th, 3 days after my birthday! I'll be on my pre-op diet then but I've been following a similar diet for the past month so it's not such a shock. I can celebrate next birthday when I'm healthier! I'm freaking out about getting my protein and water in post op. But I'm a bit of a planner so the unknown scares me. Nothing else is phasing me. I'm so excited !!

    Tomorrow is the day

I feel the same with a month to go. I can't even imagine what thinner will be like to help the nerves. What a ride though and uncharted territory - how exciting!

In need of a pep talk...

My surgery is next month and I am also being so selective who I tell. As you say generally the opinions are either not fully informed or based on a person they heard of , know, saw on Facebook once ... and regardless it's not them having it so it's not really up to them to comment. I have been warned of losing friends over losing weight, and don't want the added stigma of negative opinion on this tool I have chosen. Go us! We are willing to take this risk to improve our lives and futures !! Sent from my SM-G930F using the BariatricPal App
  10. My Surgery date is 14 June and waiting to hear about pre-op appointments. I've found changing my diet already has been quite easy. I'm not worried about the actual surgery, just about the right amount of Protein and Water getting in post op. That does kinda freak me out. Fingers crossed.

Why do people bash weight loss surgery?

I'm very interested in this subject. I am having bypass surgery in June and have decided not to tell many people (just a VERY trusted few). A) I don't want the judgement of those who dont understand or agree with WLS - actually I don't care if they don't, as it isn't them having it done B ) I would find it easier to tell people its none of their business than explain it C) I have one friend in particular I know will not cope with me losing weight, let alone that I have paid for surgery. Has anyone else lost friends over this subject?
