I had an episode which was so bad I was taking a bulking agent first. When that didn't work in 12 hours I took a laxative. Another overnight and no progress. Then a second dose.
It all hit at once while I was driving to church. It was bad.

I am 4 weeks post op. I agree on the Constipation comments. I have totally stopped taking pain meds because they caused constipation.

I like the Premier Protein shakes. I get them from costco or Amazon.com. chocolate is the best IMO.
I'm one month post-surgery today. It's worth it so far.

I'll give you some pointers about pain meds. Take them when you need them, don't when you don't. Sounds logical but it's harder to do than you think.
Pain meds cause Constipation and it can get bad. When you balance it all out, it's not worth taking any pain meds when your not in real pain.

Are there downsides? Sure. I enjoyed food, but that joy is gone. We don't eat at restaurants but we do go to the pier, and parks for walks instead. We get coffee (decaf for me).

Today is my one month anniversary. I'm glad I did it. I'm down 31 lbs.
There have been some immediate benefits. My back, knees and hips hurt less. I was experiencing some incontinence. That is markedly improved.

Hello,
I had my surgery in June 2011. I have been in mourning and in therapy since my S.O. committed suicide the day I had my surgery.
Long story, but here I am mentally ready to restart my weight loss journey--at 62yrs old.
Am I too old to start all over?
Is there anyone out there that would be willing to give my badly needed support? I live in RURAL upstate NY and am literally alone.
I made an appointment to see a nutritionist this Tues.. I thought that would be a good place to start, since I have forgotten almost everything that I learned pre-op, and I have a SEVERE allergy to soy and a lesser allergy to all other legumes.
I guess what I really am looking for is a friend or two. I need a friend right now.
Valentina
Your S.O. committed suicide the day you had Bariatric surgery? Unbelievable! Was there a connection? Did she not want you to have it? Was she so afraid of a change that she couldn't stand it?
My wife has been very supportive. I guess she worried that I'd die on the table, but I'm 4 days post up so that ain't happening.
Look, I was in dire need. Each month was a new problem: arthritic hip, back pain, knee pain, inability to walk over 200 yards. My blood pressure was creeping up, my diabetes was getting worse, blotches on my leg---the letters CTD kept creeping into my mind---"circling the drain." Man, I didn't have a choice.
Two and a half years at WW and stuck (yes, I attended meetings religiously).
I don't know what's at the end of this road, but I knew what was at the end of THAT road.
I'm 60. I'm not looking to be svelt again. I just want to be able to walk again. I want to go someplace and not be looking for the next place to sit down and rest. I'd like to be able to watch a movie to the end and not leave the theatre to pee. These are simple desires.

Keeping up with post op Water intake is a challenge. Check urine color. If it's orange you're not drinking enough. Pale yellow is what you're shooting for.

I can't concentrate while taking pain meds so I haven't felt like reading or even watching TV shows. Baseball works for me. No need to concentrate.

Well I am now 4 days post op. Haven't felt like posting until today, but I will.
I was treated well. The more I walked afterwards the better I felt. Same with breathing exercises.
I used to drink lots of Water. Now, Crystal Lite helps because plain Water isn't as appetizing.

No, not eating for sure. Don't want to be so close and mess it up.

Ok,
I'm trying hard to trust this new doctor that is coming on..... But the surgeon I originally had told me I would have to have a full liquid diet for 2 weeks pre op..... And that its dangerious not to follow the diet. In fact, if I didn't that he would know when he opened me up seeing that my liver didnt strink and wouldn't preform surgery.
Got the call I've been waiting on today to schedule surgery..... June 14th!! Yay!!!
But she said this new doctor doesn't require you having to do the liquid diet pre-op as we have to deal with a lot as it is....
So please please please tell me if any of you guys were told the same thing and if you had good or bad results..... I only want to hear from people that was told the same thing!!! Thank you!
