  2. My dr gives them to all his patients- Lovenox 2x day for 30 days. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  3. I get that from eating chicken or anything too dry. I was sleeved 7/27/16. Someone mentioned trying Papaya enzyme when it happens. They said that it helps break down the "stuck" food. I've tried it and it might have helped, but mostly I avoid chicken whenever possible. For me, when it happened, I tried to not eat solids for the rest of the day. It helped me feel better if I stuck to purée for the rest of the day. I refer to that as my Non Eating Day... HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  4. With a BMI of 47 you do not need any comorbidities with Molina. My BMI was 45 and I did not require any comorbidities for surgery. Molina required six months waiting period. During that six months I had to lose 5% of my bodyweight, go to 12 nutrition appointments, 12 visits to PT and 12 psychology visits and a monthly weigh in with my dr. During month five of that I was finally able to go to UW to meet with the team to start their prerequisites. It took me about 10 months start to finish from my doctor starting the process with my insurance company untill surgery day. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  5. At almost exactly a month out I had sudden severe pain- the ER ruled out gall bladder issues. They gave me some IV pain meds & a bunch of Fluid - felt better the next day. I was definitely dehydrated HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  6. I use bio-oil HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  7. Yes- mine was from a combination of the anti nausea patch they had behind my ear for surgery & from low blood pressure. It got better over the first few weeks HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  8. I'm 13 weeks out and still can't eat chicken. I miss it- but steak is my new "go-to" meat HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  9. My last appointment was to review all my Pre op testing, discuss the surgery & confirm what I wanted to do. No pics or anything else uncomfortable HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  10. I feel the same way. We need *a few* calories. I still use zofran occasionally. Just takes the edge off HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  11. I used coconut oil after my shower. I'm allergic to steristrips so I had to get them off asap. (My surgeon was ok with this) . I rubbed the coconut oil in as I was slowly pulling them off. First saturated the strips, then rubbed in between underside of strips and skin. It didn't hurt & the coconut oil is soothing to irritated skin HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  12. I was cleared for salad @ 6 weeks- but Nut told me to stick to kale or butter lettuce- more nutrition & easier to eat than romaine or iceberg HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  13. I drink a *little*regular Gatorade (usually diluted with some water) every now & then. I have restless leg syndrome so my dr suggested it to help with the leg cramps get bad. I don't drink more than 4-6 oz though cause it can cause tummy problems HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  14. I was given the OK for nuts & seeds at 6 weeks out. (Fruit with seeds @ 2 weeks) I eat popcorn during football games- but eat it slow cause it's easy to eat too much of it. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  15. I got that after surgery, it was gone within two weeks. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  16. There seem to be a lot of angry people here. I guess I assumed that since I have the kind of relationships with my friends and family that we can talk about things like this, like adults, that everybody can without getting their panties in a bunch. Even if it would have hurt my feelings when I was younger, maybe it would have gotten me thinking about my weight and health when I was younger. Maybe they have the kind of relationship that they can't talk about it. But getting up in arms about how angry you would be doesn't help her situation. We get it. You are clearly unhappy with your weight and very defensive about it. Maybe he was reaching out because he's afraid to ask or is ashamed that since he is a nurse and should know better,... And just because you have a conversation, doesn't mean she's going to critique him or tell him he's doing a crappy job. Maybe you can have a discussion where it is "how do you feel about your weight?" Actual adults can have conversations about these things without getting offended. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  17. Jane23 mentioned that her son asked her about her WLS.... HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  18. Personally, I think if he's asking you about your surgery that is a great opening to talk to him about his weight. I'm sure he knows he's gained weight. Maybe he's asking because he's interested in the surgery too? HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  19. Are you taking a PPI with the antibiotics? That helps calm the side effects of the antibiotics. Also- according to my gastroenterologist - testing at 1 month after antibiotics can give you a false positive- take the PPI for 10 weeks then stop it 2 weeks before breath test. By reducing the acid in your stomach, it makes it less likely that the h pylori can survive or reestablish itself. Since an ulcer with our sleeves would be catastrophic- it's super important to get it eradicated. ( tried every excuse in the book to not let it delay my surgery, but truly it would be negligent for our surgeons to do the surgery knowing we are in danger from this) HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  20. Just let it get soft & soggy before swallowing and you will be fine. If you choke to death on Jesus- it's your time to go. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  21. Feel free to message me if you'd like more info HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  22. I was sleeved 7/27/16 at UW. I met the surgeon in February. Started my prerequisite testing in march. Had upper GI, ph & swallow study, EGD & bloodwork. My EGD found h pylori so I had to undergo treatment for that (delayed my surgery by 3 months) Surgery was 7/27. I checked in that morning, the whole team was GREAT. UW has private rooms. They provide everything you need (even blistex & anti itch lotion if you get itchy) I spent an extra night (wed to fri) due to nausea. Post op, every dr visit you see dr (or NP) AND nutritionist. Also, blood work 30 minutes before your post op appointments. Some people need additional testing - like sleep study, cardiac clearance, or pulmonary clearance. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  23. I get a gurgle about half an hour to an hour after I eat. It starts low in my sleeve and gurgles up, almost like when you drain a bathtub. For me that is when my sleeve is emptying out. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  24. I used the Tria laser- yes, it was expensive, but I saved up for it & got it on sale. The reason you have to do multiple treatments with lasers is because your hair grows in 2 week cycles- the laser only works during the growth phase. So you repeat treatment every 2 weeks so you get it all. Tria only works on light-medium skin tones with dark hair - Which is me. HW - 283 SW- 238 CW- ?
  25. @@Babbs You don't seem to understand why this mother is allowing me to make medical decisions for her child? I'm not. At her mothers request- I am using the resources available to me to try to get more info for her daughter. Is she not capable? She asked me to ask on a forum that I have access to. You want her to join this forum just to ask 1 question? (When her friend already has access)... The father isn't in the picture. What I don't understand is why YOU are so offended that a person could try to help a child. If YOU don't deem my question worthy of your answer, move on. You have continued to question my motives all along... how about because I am a decent human being looking out for a child that needs help. I'm sorry that my reason isn't good enough for you.
