  1. My surgical team gave me an anti nausea patch behind my ear pre op. It stayed on until I got home. I woke up groggy but only mildly sore - like too many crunches. I never had any gas pain. But the pain PCA dilaudid made me super groggy. For me it was the next morning when I tried a lick of yogurt that was difficult. I had esophageal and sleeve spasms if the Water was too cold or too big a sip. For the most part it was a much easier post op recovery than I expected.

    I am six months today.

  2. I followed my surgeons plan... but it allowed me to have purée as tolerated immediately after surgery. I sure didn't slurp more than a bite at a time. I took it slow and some days didn't feel like having purée anything, but it was nice knowing I was allowed if I wanted to.

I was careful with what I had and did not have any complications.

  3. My surgeon said that the Vegas nerve lays near the stomach. It gets aggravated easily in the first few weeks. Hiccups were very common for me in the first few weeks, even now at almost 5 months I get them frequently. Usually if I have eaten too much though. (I didn't have any hernia repair)

  4. I have restless leg, it sometimes aches something fierce. When my calves start to hurt (maybe 1x every 4-6 weeks) I usually drink a 32oz Gatorade. It helps me....and since I can't drink the G2, the sugar in the regular one encourages a "pooping day"

  5. I live in Washington, but just spent three weeks in Maui. Three gloriously warm weeks! Although I did have a few times here and there in the evening when I would get cold, it was the warmest I have been since surgery.… But I had to come home to Washington. We're supposed to get snow tomorrow, I'm terrified of how cold I will be

  6. You are what, less than two months out? I had a hard time eating any kind of meats when I was only two months out. It does get better, my NUT told me to use a lot of gravy or Condiments. You need to make sure the meat is very tender. Sometimes we just have to wait a few more weeks before our stomach will accept it- even if it was ok last time.

I stuck with thin sliced lunch meats for a while before moving on to denser Proteins.
